    Thanks for the feedback.
    The biggest problem with all the big truck orderering is they dont give you the list of options. The amount of options available are staggering for 49X.
    They have an option for a plastic storage thing for between the seats.
    Toolbox seat, 2 passenger bench seat with fold up for storage.

    The 3 stage engine brake in a t880 is a whole different beast. Your use to hitting a wall when you let off the gas you just have to get use to it.

    Hi Haleigh, this is Sven from Germany, I‘m also a hazmat driver (gasoline, all Kinds of Diesel ) and I really enjoy to see how this Works in another Continent. Our Renault cabover also didn‘t had enough space to leave your stuff, and here we have to do a lot of paperwork. Please explain how you have to log your driving/working/Not working Time, this would be interesting though. In Europe this will be logged via a smartcard which needs to be Inserted in a device within the Truck. I wish you always to be Safe and healthy and sending you Kind greetings from the northern Part of Germany (Hamburg area).

    I've had the same experience with the delayed shifting in the new cascadia with a standard 10 speed manual. There's a delay after you release the gas before it'll pop out. Just need to shift quicker from my personal experience.

    No issues with my new 49X, a bit bigger than yours, set-back front axle and 22,000lb steerable pusher axle 22,000 front axle with 425 floats. Not sure why you're having shifting quirks, I have the X15 Cummins 605/2050 and 18 speed manual, set up for heavy haul up to 200,000lbs +. I think you have the base interior, I have the premium with the leather seats and full compliment of gauges, as well as all the switches for PTO, strobe lights, loading lights, etc. So far, so good, liking the 49X so far, but I agree on the hood latches, I'm not a fan either. The only issue so far has been a glitch in the diff locks but the dealer fixed that and all good now.

      @@mikecowan5786 Not a cheap unit, but with all the options (polished aluminum, chrome, Headache rack with chain lockers, all the strobe lights and LED load lights) this tractor was in the $245k range out the door. All things considered, a fair price for a beast of a truck, no issues other than 1 recall for a sliding 5th wheel issue.

    I recently started driving 49x with DD16 w/ 18 speed transmission, and have the same complaint not being able to make a quick split from 8h to 8l. The engine has considerable torque so I will lug engine to 11 or 1200 rpm and then go straight from 8high to 7low or if grade is very steep even 6high. It allows plenty of time to make nice smooth shift and higher rpm lowers engine torque so if on icy roads it is less likely to break traction.

    Have a few questions.
    We are considering 49x with the DD16.
    We also haul around 100k lbs
    Do you know off hand what your rear axel ratios are?.
    Also, what type of fuel economy are you getting?
    Thanks Jordan

    That engine brake lever is three stages. If you have low reduction you might just be in the lowest stage. Switch it up or down to the next stage and see if it's stronger.

    Same problem with Volvo engine and 13 speed manual! Weak engine brake power on manual mode and decent on cruise!
    Open a case with Volvo N America, no engineer seems able to fix that problem so now I filled a lawsuit against them for “ safety issues “!

    What about the leg room? My company just ordered a 49x for me. I'm 6'3",and was wondering if I would have enough leg room. I'm in a 2016 pete 567 now and have good leg room. Could use a little more,but it is what it is.

    • @thedailywithhaleigh
      @thedailywithhaleigh  Před 2 lety +1

      I'm not familiar enough with your current truck to compare the two, and I'm under 6' so I'm not sure how helpful my opinion will be but I feel like my western star would be ok on leg room up until about 6' and I think it might get a little snug after that.

  • @krhoule

    I have a question about your splits from 8H to 8L. Firstly, the other splits work okay? Second, you said you have a problem going from 8H to 8L while
    Pulling a hill. Are you trying to make the split before you “need” to? In other words are you lugging the engine down to your shift point rpm and preselecting the shift and breaking the torque by touching the clutch or off the throttle? I am a technician and a driver, wondering if it’s an idiosyncratic issue with the truck or if there is an actual problem. Is it an Eaton 13 speed?

    • @thedailywithhaleigh
      @thedailywithhaleigh  Před 2 lety +1

      I think you may have miss understand because of how I worded it. All the splits work the same, I was simply using 8H to 8L as an example. The shift from one to the other regardless of which gear it is is very slow. So when you're on flat ground it's no big deal but in a scenario like climbing a hill loaded, it takes too much time for the half gears to shift and it's not really worth using them.

    • @krhoule
      @krhoule Před 2 lety

      @@thedailywithhaleigh and if I may ask, do you have another 13 speed to compare it to? Is there another 13 speed in the fleet that shifts better? Or one that you’ve driven before that shifts better or differently? If it’s every split that has the issue there could be a problem with the air system on the transmission such as a blockage or a sticking valve or maybe a problem internally with the synchro or shift fork.

    • @thedailywithhaleigh
      @thedailywithhaleigh  Před 2 lety

      @@krhoule All of our new 49x's are the same way. I do not believe it's caused by an underlying issue, it's just how they shift. They just shift a tad slower than would be preferable and I believe it's probably because they were designed to be automatics.
