I have been feeling quite displaced from the rg community too. This 'old good, new bad' toxic mentality started to affect my enjoyment of the games, and that's just not it. Godspeed to you, Jake. I hope a brighter path lies ahead.
I feel displaced from the community too, but for a bit different reasons. Some of the new games are very bad, yet we have youtubers that never call it out, reviewers that will give it 10/10. Then there's a few small channels that on the other hand do call it out, but for the most part the big channels don't do that. There's no balance for me. Yes, calling new things bad automatically is bad, but the lack of criticism in the rg community is a problem on its own.

The racing community was so different in 2015, it kinda makes me sad how downhill it all went. I can’t say that was one of the reasons I left the community when it came time to switch my content’s focus to cars, but it was definitely a good idea. Seeing your channel grow and blossom these past 8 years made me feel like a proud mom. Some truly great times in those early days, and it was an honor to be part of The Hidden Story. Good luck, man. I remember seeing your soundtrack video on my feed awhile ago. And I was a bit skeptical at first, but I gave it a watch and man I was shocked. You actually LISTENED to the soundtrack and gave it some fair criticism, explained why it could be bad from a racing game fan's POV, while also explaining that there were actually some good songs, and you even gave some suggestions as to how it could've been better which hardly anyone does nowadays. Most people just use the same ol "new bad old good" mentally and it gets overused very quickly. But man you were different. Your video was fair wasn't one-sided like 90% of the other videos I've seen. I really liked that video so I ended up leaving a comment. To my surprise, you liked my comment. And you also pinned my comment which completely shocked me. I've never had a CZcamsr pin my comment before. I know it's not that big of a deal. But to me it was because it was my first time. It completely threw me off-guard when I first saw the notification. I loved the videos you were putting out this year. I thought they were really good. I also loved the way how you always presented your opinions/thoughts. You weren't too overboard or too harsh. You always explained why you either liked/disliked certain without bashing them too much. I actually agree with you on the mentality of the racing game community; as I've watched videos and observed comments I just find that a decent amount of players don't seem to understand what they want. They tend to be quick to complain about certain things in games yet rarely come up with solutions. The worst part? It's those comments that are the reason why perfectly justified complaints are overlooked. Don't get me wrong; racing games aren't in a fantastic state and developers are part of the problem, but it can get better with time and improvements to current and future titles. I can surely relate to the sentiment of everyone trying to be as angry as possible about anything online nowadays and it does suck. You're the only one I've ever seen talk about Forza Horizon 2 ending up being forgotten and that touched me a lot since it's my favorite Horizon if not my favorite racing game, period. I might not have agreed with all the opinions in your videos (Sorry, I unironically like Girlfriend. No, I'm not ashamed about it.) and that's fine, something unfortunately people don't remember nowadays. tbh after i stopped playing racing games as my main type of game last year ive been a lot more interested in more stuff and games, also i despise the state of the racing game community, people start throwing around offensive stuff just because someone doesnt agree that NFS MW05 isnt the best game of all time
I feel like the NFS community is not accepting of change. The Nintendo Direct for instance, when I watched it I was so hyped and after it the community was as well. Like the design change of Super Mario Bros. Wonder was new and fresh compared to the older New Super Mario Bros., but everyone was accepting. But for NFS Unbound, everyone hated it, and basically didn’t give the game a chance. I personally loved it, but it seems most people talking in public about it didn’t. And that’s one thing that bothers me about the NFS community, cause the game devs worked hard on it and are passionate about it, but the “fans” are just ruthless.
Super mario wonder is a good game, nfs unbound is not. Nintendo is innovating and making killer games every time while ea is being... ea. It's not the ''ruthless" community, it's the bad games. If developers started making good games you will not see any "ruthless" people any more. Millions of people can't be wrong
Hey, thanks for all the videos you made, I discovered this channel a few years ago, and I do like most of the videos you made most of your videos where it didn't feel like it was too biased or overhating the topic. Yes, I do agree that the racing game community has become very insufferable with them overhating the new stuff. Plus, it got even worse when Forza Motorsport won this year's best racing game award. At that point, I just don't care anymore and just move on.

Hey, thanks for all the videos you made, I discovered this channel a few years ago, and I do like most of the videos you made most of your videos where it didn't feel like it was too biased or overhating the topic. Yes, I do agree that the racing game community has become very insufferable with them overhating the new stuff. Plus, it got even worse when Forza Motorsport won this year's best racing game award. At that point, I just don't care anymore and just move on.
It was fun watching your videos since 2015 Jake, I don't even play racing games much anymore because it is clearly incredibly toxic now
