    Having a 13 : 1 at idle is good for a smooth idle. We're as mine has a big valve head and extractors which makes my idle lean. To fix this I retuned the distributer to idle at 14° and max out to 30°.
    Yours sounds pretty sweet, round town is always the test.

      This motor has 40x35.5 heads. This engine could definitely use some more advance at idle but that will be taken care of when I hook the crank fired ignition back up:)

    Man she sounds sweet! I’d love to do an injection setup, but my money keeps being spent in other areas lol
    Plus I have the carbs pretty dialed in so far. AFR gauge is key for fine tuning!
    I bet it would be run running back roads together in our bugs!
    Be careful on the serp belt and high rpm’s…. Ask me how I know 🙄

      Thanks Gary! You might get lucky and find one for a good deal like I did on this, but life does have its expenses and priorities(I traded a pair of weber 34ict, a pair of baby dellorto's, a set of hubcaps and 200 bucks) this is definitely far from a set of halfway tuned carbs, it just doesn't have the consistency yet but it's getting better I would like to hook my laptop up to it and see what I can mess up. 🤣 if the webers I had on it would have tuned to my liking I would have kept them till I went turbocharged. Oh man that would be a blast, too bad were on the opposite corners of the US. I've heard some stories of fans exploding, I was cautious enough that I put a welded unit in this when I built it, this engine only gets pulled to 5k when I'm hammering on it, it lost about 1k of upper rpm power probably due to the stock intake ends not flowing well enough

    • @VWJawbreaker
      @VWJawbreaker Před 3 lety +1

      @@V8N8T that’s true, you got a killer deal on that setup!
      If you’re only pulling to 5k, you should be ok with a welded fan but remember the serp belt doesn’t slip like the stock v belt. The reason your belt is slipping is due to the engine accelerating faster than stock.
      I found that the gates belt I switched over to is holding up, less slippage when I rev and is overall better than the continental belt.
      Wonder if you can port and open up the end castings but that would be a much longer down the road. Keep putting miles on it and posting videos for us to see.

    Sounds great!!! Would you by chance know the part number for the distributor cap that you have installed? I've tried looking for it with no luck... I know it comes on early Audis and Volkswagens...thx

      @@shantb7147 if you can find a way to send me your email address I can try to send it to you as long as the file isn't too large. You must use petg filament otherwise it will melt with Fuel vapors. This design was my last revision and so far the only flaw is I have a support stem that goes around the air cleaner stud and it basically looks like a cylinder under the hat, the edges where it connects should be redesigned so it flows up into the hat vs a straight edge. I have noticed a couple small stress fractures on the top of mine but not bad for 2 years of use. Do you have Instagram at all?

      Thank you, this setup can be bought from lowbugget out of California, I got this second hand and it was missing a few parts but it was originally bought from lowbugget from the guy I got it from. On my setup I made the air cleaner, bell crank linkage and fuel line, which all of those items you cannot get from lowbugget (he sells a cable extender, standard air filter, and different style fuel line)

    how much power did you loose? from dual webers? how is the bottom end pulling? any videos on 0-60?DID YOU LOOSE BOTTOM END OR TOP END?

    • @V8N8T
      @V8N8T  Před 2 lety +3

      I originally had dual 40's with 32mm vents. The bottom end has plenty of torque with both efi and carbs being a stroker but it did loose some power on the top end, those stock style end castings and center section are holding me back I think. It didn't loose a lot but before it felt like it would pull up to 6k no problem but now it's peaking at around 5200 even though I can hold it till 6k but it's not making any power up there

  • @saulsport
    @saulsport Před 2 lety +1

    Hello, I wanted to know what happened or how the supercharger that you put 3 years ago in a video you uploaded worked for you ... if it worked for you you preferred to remove it because it did not give you much power or increase in hp as opposed to making the engine bigger and Tell him what you have now.

    • @V8N8T
      @V8N8T  Před 2 lety

      Hi Saul, the supercharger is still on that engine I put together years ago and it worked great! The engine was basically a experimental engine that I literally slapped together in less than a week with all my old junk parts with the exception of new heads(it was a single port but the valve seats were going out) it was a 1641, stock cam, no idea what the c/r was, stock valve China d/p heads with single hi rev springs, stock intake. As far as power goes compared to the 2058cc stroker that's in my bug now I would say it was only slightly slower and it was only running 3.5-4 lbs of boost. I didn't have any sensors to monitor air intake temps or knock but I adjusted the carb to get my afr's right where it was happy and it actually got right around 25mpg. I still have the engine and I have plans for v2 of it but it will probably be a few years at least till I get to it and it will probably be going in my volksrod. If you have any other questions let me know
