You should totally introduce spring tails. they are tiny beneficial insects that eat mold, algae, snail poop, rotting plant matter, and anything that can harm your snails. There is a lot more benefits to them and are pretty easy to cultivate.
I put some wood lice* in my tank, and they kinda multiplied like crazy. Any ideas on how to fix this? *idk If that's their name.. but they're isopods I'm sure :>
@@ikarys1703 maybe you could just get them out with tweezers? (idk how to write it) if they live naturally where you live, u can just set them outside, otherwise, you can eat them, they taste like shrimps apparently.
Little tip to make the terrarium longer lasting- Use some garden rocks for drainage, then put window screen mesh to separate the dirt from the rocks. Home depot usually has all that stuff for cheap! Drainage in a humid environment is very important to prevent mold/rotting. You can also try mixing in a bit of sand, bark and dried moss into the substrate for a really natural look. Consider leaf litter and acorn caps on the top as well :)
I would put grounded up eggshells for calcium and good shell health(: mine also love love love lettuce and cucumber, if they have babies abt 30-50 come out so like I recommend if they do hatch put them in a separate container and enclousure than the big snails lol.
coconut coir and coconut husk bedding is pretty much ideal for just about any terrestrial animal, its soft, cheap, safe and holds moisture very well (i always add a bit of moss to hold even more moisture)
When I was like 5 years old I lived in Brooklyn. I found a snail on a porch in the sun under a bench, so I took it home. I loved that snail. I went home and made him a plastic habitat, decorated it, threw in a bunch of leaves, sticks and stuff (I had no idea what snails liked hahah) I moved to NJ since, but I still have never found a snail in the wild since that day.
It's true that there isn't a lot of information on snail care on the internet, unfortunately! I personally own my own Facebook group called garden snails where we share a lot of tips if you need any ^-^ I'd personally not recommend the mushrooms. Since they are a hard surface, they could fall from the lid onto it, and break their shells. You could also put some moss on it to make it a little softer. But all of that aside, welcome to the hobby!
Ive had 2 african snails before and i would always keep a shallow dish in with them because they like to bathe and drink from it. also i would always have a thicker layer of substrate because they like to burrow but they were pretty big so needed more lol. one last tip is to keep on top of the eggs because if you dont you'll be over run with snails in no time!
You should get some plants and vintage painting and maybe you could make your own vintage looking art prints and frame it. I love how your enclosure turned out!
My biggest milk snail is called tofu, and my smaller ones are Escargot and Scungilli. I've also got a couple little normal garden snails, they are Marvin and Frederick. My aqua snails are all variants of Gary- gariella, garriette, garrion, etc.
i thought your dog was a chicken at the beginning 😭 ive always wanted snails, and you just constructed the most amazing enclosure ever! love your channel!
I'm taking care of a snail that came in my supermarket lettuce haha! I didn't have the cold urge to kill it (I'm not vegan or vegetarian, but I have rare meat consumption, and I try to be aware of it), we named it Gary (we were super spongebob fans as children). Anyway, we just want to give Gary a comfortable stay until the day he (she/they) dies.
I get some snail food and a little enclosure for two snails and since I don’t have much money I just used soil for the bedding😅 and I put a stick and rock in it and some native plants in it!❤❤❤
African Lilly, if you see this. It looks like a farn.... But the african Lilly is absolutely unpoisonous for pets. My cat's are eating them like candy and they are fine. This plant grows leaves almost a 1,5 meter of length and do look pretty as room plants.
I love the video!! But if you get at least more than one decor item you can use the moss to cover it so it doesn’t do much damage if they fall. Hope this is helpful!!!
I love snails! I’ve had one named buttons for 3 years and she/he (they are hermaphrodites so they are make and female) are awesome! She/he has had a total of 108 babies (they lay like 25 eggs at once) they are a garden snail too! She has never been picky and enjoys everything!
I but springtails in with my snails. They are little cleanup crews that can help with bacteria growth in the enclosure. I breed snails and this has helped me. I have noticed that the tank smells less now that the springtails are in there
Ngl ive always found snails kinda creepy, when i see them i get scared the same way i do when i see a worm or spider lol. But now im really interested in keeping a few as pets, they seem like really cool little creatures
Snails and hermit crabs can live in Eco earth, which is pretty much the same thing that you have. Fish flakes are a nice snack and they can eat fruits and vegetables, just nothing with salt and no citrus. Citrus will kill the snails, and this is the pretty much the same for hermit crabs if anybody’s wondering..
You are an amazing pet owner and i love your channel! The snail enclouser it looks so cute and cottagecore (my aesthetic is cottagecore so i love it❤), loved the little mushroom detail😊🍄
My snails are arriving in 3 days. 6 common brown garden snails.(2 large, size of a quarter, 2 medium, size of a dime, 2 small, pea sized. I'm so excited. I love your snailarium it's really pretty. Mine is a critter keeper, plastic for now, but have rocks for the bottom, substrate and have been transplanting moss from outside in my woods for couple weeks, it's doing well. Have some smooth branches for them to crawl on, nd transplanted a little patch of clover.
depending on the snails you get, the one bit of advice! if they lay eggs, the babies can be very very tiny. i used to raise snails and i often ran into little escapees that would sneak through the air holes because of how tiny they were
what kind of loser gets a snail
The same kind that sits and watches me get the snail❤️ thanks for the view

I literally named my snails portebello and cremini after this comment.
PLEASE that's so cute
I wouldn't, it might start people thinking about escargot...

DON'T PUT ROCKS IN A SNAIL GARDEN
Rocks, a snail could go up it. Fall down and crack it's shell. Had one die because of that, do not recommend.
@@Bloopscreatoroh I found out, they mean at the bottom of the cage. A window mesh to block, then substrate to drain the water, that comes down.
Maybe something like Almond and Cashew, you know like types of milk since they’re milk snails... 😂
Omg, I love this idea! Yes! ☺️
Love this!
i like the name %2
Oat!!
wait theres cashew milk???
Your pets running around in the back make me so happy
Since they are milk snails I would recommend naming them Almond and Cashew, ya know for almond milk and cashew milk.
My boyfriend said snails are not pets, I play with them in the garden. I will be showing him this video. I’m going to get myself a snail!
