We went back to the Secret Trail and accomplished it this time! 3rd Time is the charm! We wheeled our daughter's 1993 Jeep XJ because our XJ wasn't ready to be wheeled yet.The Secret Trail is a bypass for people to cross from Western WA (Greenwater) to Eastern WA (Easton) via dirt roads and river crossings. The road and bridge was washed away years ago so 4x4's found an alternate route, a secret trail not accessible to many. And only available during the late summer months.

Today the Goat is my daily driver, driving like a champ! 💪 It was extremely Smokey that day we filmed but fortunately it has all cleared. 😄

The Secret Trail!!!! I love this series! Yalls filming is amazing! The scenery is so beautiful there! And yall Conquered The Secret Trail!!! So awesome! Plus yall crack me up with yalls commentary back and forth, one heck of a team!! So glad that yall made it so close to yalls trailer before the brake cable locked up, that would have been brutal in the middle of a creek crossing! I thought for sure yall broke a spring perch or U bolts when you first showed the tire, but so glad yall could just cut the cable and get it home. Great Job!

Duddie's Adventure - I would like to get rid of the ‘93 so we don’t spend money for “Dualing XJ’s” 🤣 But Joe wants to keep it... for now 😉 And it technically is our daughters but she likes her other car better 🏎💨 😂

Looks like maybe your U-bolts were loose and hitting the diff like that might have sheared off the center pin or it was loose enough to slip regardless and that last articulation it slipped far enough to pull and engage the parking break. Only guessing cuz this same scenario happened to me years ago. Let us know when you get around to looking at it. Unless you have already! Either way, always fun to just watch you two interact with each other!! All couples should have this much fun together!!

And we were definitely thinking we were in for a long trail repair before we realized it was an easy fix (at least to get it back on the trailer)

When you thought something was wrong,heard noise before the rock on rear,why not get out and check it out,enjoy watching 👍
We actually pulled off because it was overheating and we did look it over. It looked okay. I just didn’t include it in the video.
We knew when we got it home we would have to really look it over.

I think you guys should consider some handheld radios for spotting and truck to truck communication. I have been really happy with my Midland GXT1030VP4. I have the yellow & black which make them easy to see & they are waterproof which is super handy in our climate. They do require a GMRS license but it doesn't require a test, it covers your whole family and it lasts 10 years. I think they would fit your needs nicely. I got them as a placeholder between my CB and Ham but I've found I just grab them all the time. I also have some old Motorola FRS radios that I can give to non-licensed folks and communicate with them using the GMRS on FRS channels.
We actually do carry radios with us. We use them sometimes when it’s just the two of us. And honestly always end up saying “we should have used the radios” . We mainly use them when we go out with a group so we can communicate between the rigs.
@@GoatOffroad Yeah, my wife and I have done this for over 20 years and only just started using the handhelds this year. What a difference - much less yelling, repeating, etc. We're clearly slow learners.

The drone is a Phantom 4 Pro V2 (version 2). It belongs to our friend Wilson so he allows me to use his footage 😄
So happy we could limp the ‘93 onto the trailer! That could have been a lot worse. So yes, Blessed! 😇
We’re doing great and Joe will finally have his hip replacement surgery later this month!! His chronic pain has got to go!!

You know what they say 3rd times a charm...
So what actually broke? Looks like either the spring hangers or the axle u bolts that hold the axle to the leaf springs.
@@dieseldirt3994 Hopefully fixing that won't be too much of a pain. I know one ton chevy axles aren't fun from personal experience.

Sorry had to comment before I watched the whole video. That trail looked easy. Nothing that I would not have taken in my stock 1979 SJ 45 through. Just giving you crap. That is a cool trail. 7:40 in the video reminded me of what I did in Tahoe in the 80's. Snow covered road and hit the diff. Said this was not good. Tried to back out and hit same rock. Except it hit flat instead of going over. Tried to get out of the Jeep. To much snow, had to climb out the window. Found the rock and had to go forward. Made it out with out ANY recovery gear. Young and dumb. TC and can not wait to see your next video.
John Bango - yes the trail was easy- Then! The 1st time we came it had gotten late and the sun was setting. And we were alone. The 2nd time we came the water was too high for our vehicles to cross.
So yes, this time everything was easy. The conditions were just right 👍
Good job on your recovery! The U-bolts were loose and when we hit the diff, the center pin slipped out and the axle went backwards.
Luck was definitely on our side!
@@GoatOffroad Been there done that with the u bolts. My dad took us out 4x4ing January 9, 1977. He snapped the u bolt on the front axle on a rock. Had a friend bring a new one up. It was the wrong size. He ended up chaining the axle to the spring and drove it home.
How do I know that date? It was the day that the MN Vikings were playing the Oakland Raiders in the Super Bowl. Being kind, could have used worse words, I was upset that I had to go with everyone because I liked the Vikings.
To make the story even more strange. This was outside of Phoenix AZ. The friend now lives outside of Bonney Lake WA. And no, I had nothing to with her moving here or vise versa. I have not spoken to her for over 40 years.
I believe it was this trip that I had bent a spring u bolt.

September 2020. We were surprised the water was so low that late in the year. Love that you're building an XJ with your daughter!!!!

How narrow does this trail get? Would it be passable with a 92 Chevy short box extended cab?
It gets real narrow right before the river crossings. The Jeep barely made it. And it’s constantly eroding
Well, first is was to dark. Then to much water. Finally made it through the trail but now fires have closed SR410 at Enumclaw till the end of October and can't even get to Greenwater.

I think it is probably harder going upstream. Could have been a little deeper and we would have been okay. But being in the ‘93 for the first time off-road it was probably best just how it was.
