Do you fish barbless when you fish for these bulls? It is vital when fishing for them with crankbaits and jerk baits to do that at a very minimum, if not just fish single hooks. Awesome fish, glad you got into some 👍
Yes all hooks on the rapala were barbless, hook popped right out when he was in the net! I'm typically always catch n release so I always pinch my barbs on flies and lures! But thanks for support, tight lines!

I am 14 and from Pocatello Idaho. I have never caught a bull trout. What is the name of that creek.
Good video. Clickbait title gets thumbs down. Scenery gets 2 thumbs up. Using too light of rigging, causing too long of fight and broke off fish gets 2 thumbs down. Multiple species with respect shown to even the lower gets 2 thumbs up. General fish handling, 1 thumbs up. Lifting Bulls out of the water, is illegal most places, so 2thumbs down. Keeping the name of the creek to yourself 2 thumbs up.

never went fishing for bulls before but love streamer fishing. how do you know what rivers to target? what rivers get the best run of spawning bulls
Look into the main streams bull trout migrate up or live in and then look into the tributaries off the main river, and you just might find a bull or two🤘

Can I ask which Boise River Fork is this, the middle or north or the south?
And might I add, that big bull trout is a catch of a life time, Wow Great Catch!
Trout Man 007 I'd assume the North fork. He posted it in the summer and the bull trout migrate to mountain streams during the summer and in the valley in the winter.
@Conner, thanks for the info. And yes, that was my first guess since the IDW has a weir there, but the fish counts are higher above Pine, so still not sure. But this did inspire me to do a little research and I learned a lot about the entire Boise River Drainage, the key element for me is the catch them before they migrate into the smaller feeder streams to spawn. But it’s still crazy to see a fish like that caught in a creek that small, I have been fly fishing for + 50 yrs and it never gets old!

In idaho you're not allowed to keep bull trout anywhere because they are protected. I caught and cooked a rainbow trout in this video.

Jenson Yonker I would recommend the Kootenai River. Someone caught a State Record Bull trout from there this year.

brenden's north west outdoors "Full" is an understatement. But if he is visiting I'm cool with it. It gets Idaho tourism bucks. What is great for the economy. It also makes great entertainments watching people complain about 30 degree weather.

It should never take that long to get them in, even the larger ones unless you're using super light leader in which case you have no business even targeting them. Get a bigger net. learn how to fight larger fish. learn how to net fish. smh.

Should be cooking more of the fish. It’s not like catch and release puts no stress on the fish
you shouldnt be fishing with treble hooks in those water, single barbless only, its the law. let alone two of them treble hooks. way to treat those beautiful fish like that, and i hope you seriously learn to keep our backcountry healthy.
