  • Paradigm Mini Monitor v2 Tweeter Replacement
In this video, I'll be replacing the original tweeters in a set of Paradigm Mini Monitor v.2's that have quit working. Both the box and the new tweeters need slight modifications so the speaker will sit flush in the box.
    Original Tweeters: B3TWHF-TIM-070
    Replacement Tweeters: BC25TG15-08
More info on the replacement tweeters:
Peerless by Tymphany (formerly Vifa) BC25TG15-08 1" Fabric Dome Tweeter 8 Ohm
    www.parts-express.com/ Part # 264-1442
    www.parts-express.com/peerles...
These specific tweeters were chosen, because:
    They're 8 Ohms
    Handle 100 watts
    Are 1" dome
    Fit in the preexisting hole
And lastly after fitting the above mentioned criterion, they had the widest range of frequency response 1KHz-20KHz

I would highly suggest taping off the driver/tweeter portion while cutting to avoid getting metal filings in it. This is a smart and simple fix. I love Paradigm speakers. Their whole line is phenomenal.

Replacing the original tweeter with a different tweeter is unlikely to sound very good without modifications to the cross-over network. But better than no tweeters at all! :)

ENG: Also you should have cover the tweeter with adhesive paper (protect from littles particles when you drill or cut)...
ESP: También debe cubrir el tweeter con papel adhesivo (protéjalo de partículas pequeñas cuando taladre o corte) ...

ENG: Before you have enlarged the space/Surface for the new Tweeter, you should have removed the woofer (so as not to damage it) as a precaution. You could to have raised the level where you would install the new Tweeter (with rubber band/cloth a few millimeters thick or a thin piece of wood), the Tweeter would be over the edge of the woofer, without having to enlarge the hole in the box original acoustic and don't cut new border of tweeter...

Rather than cutting into I used a big O ring to mount the new tweeter .25" over face.

Nice vid, I love Paradigms. Where did you get the detail screwdriver sets? I could use some

That set came from Walmart, at around this seasonal time period. They were sold as kind of last minute gift ideas close to the tool section. This year I picked up some similar cases of tools, but was a drill bit set and screwdriver bit set.
Or if you mean the second set, with the tiny bits, they came from Walmart also, just in the regular tool section.

Couldn't you just buy the vifa diaphragm voice coil and put it on the original teeter assembly bolt it to the original faceplate and remove the "plastic protection" from the original faceplate so it didn't interfere? If memory serves, the vifa diaphragm sits perfectly on the teeter assembly, and I think vifa made the tweeters for paradigm in the 90s se series

You're more than likely correct. I have no experience with changing voicecoils and such though. Too late now, I ended up cutting the faceplate to kinda fill in the gaps of the box. At least I didn't modify the enclosure acoustically :D

PZ means pozi-drive. Usually just called pozi.

ENG: And the second part?. When you need change Tweeters, you have to changes both tweeters (both speakers)...
ESP: ¿Y la segunda parte ?. Cuando necesite cambiar Tweeters, debe cambiar ambos tweeters (ambos altavoces) ...
