I absolutely LOVE that you went about this the right way and got permission from the business owner and were still able to keep it real and suspenseful since the staff didn't know. Bravo for setting a good example that people shouldn't do this to businesses without permission.

(after adding a stroke/glow to your text, rubbing it out wont make it look right as you can see) To do this, right click on layer then 'rasterize layer'. This means you will also rub out the stroke/glow and not just the original image.
