Is this the BEST ISP supplied Router? The Hyperoptic Nokia HA-140W-B Fibre Router

- After joining @hyperoptic I was offered a FREE router upgrade! That seemed pretty awesome as I'd literally been with them a day... No I wasn't getting special 'influencer' privileges - they send out these Hyperoptic Nokia HA-140W-B Fibre Routers to customers who are on the highest speed packages.... Why? Well they have better WiFi performance than the ZTE one that was installed in the house.
But is the WiFi much better? We all know that wired connections are pretty much as good as it gets, but can I get 'wired' speeds over a 'wireless' connection? Well watch and find out!
In this video I unbox, set up and configure this Hyperoptic Nokia HA-140W-B Fibre Router and compare it to what we had before, and.. I think you want to see just how different things are.. (if at all!)

Thanks for useful vid. Lack of info on this router on the web, but this video convinced me its a worthy upgrade for our business.
Great vid kip as always ❤ 😊
Go back into the wifi settings of the router and change your channel bandwidth settings on 5GHz to 80 or 160 MHz, then watch your speeds go even faster.
Got the 500mbp package…doesnt seem to be stable via ethernet drops to 400..do you get same issue? With community fibre i would constantly be above minimum speed
80 MHz (highest) limits my download to 50mbps... Auto is nearly 400mbs.
Auto it is.
@@Argooh cause you have to have a compatible device to support it
Wow, that's insane how fast that upload/download speed is!!
It really is!
In other Asia countries, they are using 4GB upload and download speed at home already, western countries are slow
@phantom001 absolutely
Have you tried dissembling this CPE? Would be great to see photos of internals.
I haven’t!
You mentioned a bracket you bought for your Sky Q router would be in the description, but i can't spot it - any suggestions? I was going to buy a white shelf into the wall, but a small bracket would be a lot better
Hiya.. I removed the link because it's currently unavailable on Amazon but this is the one I used it on - amzn.to/3LQJKOC
@@kiphakes cheers - had a look at found some that look like that. I may pop up a shelf for it to sit on anyway, as I’m also thinking of just using my eero. I had everything installed last week but they need to finish something on the external line so I have a few more days before I can actually use it 🙃
Make sure you don't change the default SSID (keep it on broadcast), admin and wifi passwords mate 🤣 In other news, I think Community Fibre has a far better router. Not sure if they are at Colchester though, you got to call them.
What is WiFi range?
Do we need WiFi booster for other rooms?
Range was pretty good.. but I’d advise watching my video on the ZTE router if you’re with Hyperoptic
Hi you mentioned a link to the wall mount was that included?
There’s a video on my channel about wall mounting a sky router- it’s the same mount. 👍🏼
@@kiphakes thank you 😊
I rang Hyperoptic to upgrade from the ZTE H298A to this Nokia HA140WB due to latency issues.
Does this support Wi-Fi 6? The customer service rep said it did when I didn’t believe them. I enquired about potentially getting the newer ZTE H3600 but they said they have been advised not to send those to customers anymore due to issues ?
It doesn’t support WiFi 6 - I got the H3600 and it’s fine?!
@@kiphakes strange.
How was the HA140WB do you think it is a substantial upgrade compared to the ZTE H298A?
@curtis4643 yeah.. it was fine!! Just didn’t have WiFi 6
I am mad 😂lol 😂 it’s cause I think your great at you tube and love your vids ❤
That's very kind of you David!
@@kiphakes they are good and some of them are useful too 🤩🙂👍 look forward to the next one
@@kiphakes when I get time soon I am upping the subscription 🙂👍
I just got hyperoptic installed today, they gave this router today after i asked but i see in your other video there was another router they gave you when you asked, i also have the 1gb package
Is it worth asking again for the other router or is this one good enough?
So I think the Nokia doesn’t have WiFi 6.. so you won’t get the fastest speeds on WiFi 6 enabled devices.
@kiphakes I have spoken with them over the phone and they are sending the new router out and should be with me in a few days 👍
@@DazzyVRhey got the same issues as well, got 1gb installed but getting only 200/300 out of my router , called them and new router is on the way. Did you manage to get something closer to 1gb with the new router ? :)
@avian93 unfortunately not, I did a speediest just now and got 326 over wifi, with ethernet cable on my pc it is around 800
I am thinking of getting a good wifi 6e router soon which hopefully should improve things, personally for a 1gb line I would expect them to provide 6e routers which they don't and realistically all routers should be wifi 6 now not just when asked for when getting a high speed line.
It’s not in my area. We are paying 68£/mo for 120mbps. Bullshit. I’d rather get this but i can’t
Why does it default to low security? I'm just about to do the same as you, but the older ZTE was set to high security.
Honestly. I’m not sure, easily changed though!
@@kiphakes Yes. However, that seemed to stop Speedtest from working, but I'll have another look. I found some other things that needed attention. For example, I had to reset the DNS settings on my iMac, else I couldn't get on the internet using wi-fi. Also, I have set bandwidth and specific channel numbers for the separate 2.4 and 5GHz networks, and that improved things - especially the 2.4GHz connection. Hyperoptic had to re-enable my phone, as their servers needed to see the changed modem! All good stuff :-)
I have this router, but the speed dropping outside of the room the router is in is HORRIBLE! I have the mesh system as well, but I can’t get over 30mbps with them.. inside the room the routers in I am getting 300!
Pls I have one in west Africa i don't no how I use it and how I will buy Wi-Fi credit
Sorry, I've no idea.
Not sure why this video was recommended to me - I’m happy with my speeds but I’m still on the old router so it looks like I’ll be giving Hyperoptic a ring…..
Well I'm glad it helped!
CAT5e cables are good to 2.5GBe
Can you use your own router?
yes
I have Hyperoptics 750mb package. I would like a router that I can replace this Nokia one with. I want to use Wifi 6 with my PC... Out of principle.
Any recommendations? I am wrong in thinking that any new router to would require me using this Nokia primarily, then plugged new router into it?
Id like to scrap the Nokia altogether (power consumption and space)
Hello! Hyperoptic allow you to use your own router - so you wouldn't need it plugged in alongside the Nokia one. As to which one to use.. I'm not sure!
I believe there is a WiFi 6 router that HyperOptic are now supplying it's a ZTE one - someone mentioned it in the comments on my other Hyperoptic video. I'm gonna get in touch and see if they can send me it! :)
@@kiphakes Thank you. So I could get anything, say the TP Link AX5400 router and plug it into the hyperoptic port on the wall?
Exciting.
@@Argooh Yeah - I think you should be able to plug the ethernet from the hyperoptic point on the wall into the WAN on the TP Link AX5400 and it should work! I think there's some stuff in their help section about using 3rd party routers
@@kiphakes Thanks again dude. Subscribing.
new router theyre supply is the H3601 V9.1 V9.1.8P4_HOP got it today
can these use vpn ?
Honestly, I can’t remember- I’ve got a different router now
OPEN THE BOX......
That’s what she said
