Diana is a one of a kind. Nobody sounds like she does (She is 18 years old here in this performance from last September on Russian TV). She has many songs that will surprise you in different ways. I've listened to her for years now and have watched her rise. I listen to something she sings pretty much daily. We love her in Texas. 🤍🤠

She is special. She was 14 when I saw her for the first time. Can't describe how shocked I was by her voice.
This girl is utterly unique. The stage presence, the range, the emotive ability, the tiny perfectly rythmic swaying body movements, the witchy vocalizations, the overall shamanistic earth mother vibe, the haunting overtones, and that thunderous, rich, dark, resonant contralto. Her talent blazes like a supernova, despite her rather brutal start to life. She is bravery, perseverance, and soul power personified. I get emotional just watching her, never mind the otherworldly voice. By far, my favorite singer in the world.

Hello Texas! I've only been down there once, but still talk about the trip on a regular basis. Had such a great time. I've never heard anyone sing like she does. Such a unique voice which I just love. Thanks for listening to my reaction.
Diana is definition of talent
Diana's back story is heart breaking. Aged just 3 and with a broken arm, her mother abandoned her at a bus stop. She was taken to a hospital and one of the nurses eventually adopted her. So, thanks to a loving family, we get to see this amazing young talent who has only just turned 19. This was a competition and all those judges, also participants, are established artists, yet she totally amazed them. There is a great video of Diana aged about 14 on another talent show yodeling. Modern music is in good hands with Diana, Aurora, Angelina and Sigrid.
18 years old in this one that was filmed last year.
She is hands down the best female vocalist of our times, the things she can do with her voice are unbelievable.
If you are looking about to analyze the technical parts of her voice and what makes it unique then according to vocal coaches around the world she first of all has the register of a dramatic contralto (the rarest human register) but through hard work she has extended that to the soprano range, then she can use polyphonic sounds (she uses 2 different tonalities at the same time), she produces binaural sounds, that is an auditory illusion created by the brain when you listen to two tones with slightly different frequencies at the same time, this makes you feel goosebumps (She is called the queen of goosebumps a very frequent phenomenon every time you hear her sing ), her timbre is also one of her unique characteristics making her sound even deeper than the actual register she is singing, she is a master yodeler, her vocal agility is insane, she can jump up and down the octaves like it is nothing.
She can sing in many languages, English, French, German, Arabic, and of course Russian.
Lastly her stage presence is outstanding, she always gives 100% no matter if the audience are 2 or 2000 people.
Personally i am spoiled forever, after her sound i seriously find every other singer lacking.

There has never been anyone like Diana, she is a one-of-a-kind unique contralto with spots of polyphonic effect sounding like two voices at once. If you like Roy Orbison music a then young performer by the name of Chris Issac did a song called “Wicked Game”, You can hear the influence in the original song of guitar play in it. Well Princess Diana at age 15 did a cover of it that will blow you away. It’s how I got introduced to her over a year ago and gave not gone a day without listening to her songs as she has made and recorded so many that it will take you a while to react to them all.
If you want to go back to an older song when she was even younger she sang on this same show “This is a man’s world” that you will love as well. We both like and have seen Aurora recently and Diana Ankudinova is actually my #2 favorite. The guy who stood in amazement is Yusif Eyvazov, husband of world famous operatic soprano Anna Netrebko and an opera singer himself. What an honor to receive that reaction! The girl in red is Julia Parshuta and is also great and I love her song "Cinderella" on this same show.

Your reaction reminded me of my first reaction to this performance. I watched Diana's performances five years before this event, but nevertheless I was so shocked it is indescribable. She is not only a contralto, she is polyphonic as well, so you hear several different notes at the same time. I'll help you with this one, put up the closed caption and see what all these judges have to say about Diana. They don't comment like US judges, festinating and well worth it
Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in seven billion.

The judge standing on the top row with the beard and tears in his eyes is Yusif Eyvazov who is married to Anna Netrebko, both international opera singers. What does it say about her performance if she could move him to tears?

I absolutely loved your reaction and agree. I feel that her voice can take you to another place. She’s definitely my favorite. I am so happy that you finally found her. One of my absolute favorites from her is “The Closest Soul”. I love the sand art version and the song I believe was dedicated to her adoptive mother and grandmother. It is a remarkable, hauntingly beautiful and powerful performance unlike anything you may have experienced before. Diana was only 14yo at the time, it is truly world class (Please however find the original performance from “you are super”)

Diana is unique. An unusual voice is only part of her talent. She is called a shaman and an "old soul". On stage, she is transformed, very different from a girl in life =) On this show, in the first program, her words constantly made the participants laugh, because she spoke the truth too honestly to her face, this is beyond the bounds of politeness (without the desire to offend someone, of course). So young, sincere, she goes on stage and the audience turns out to be plasticine in her hands... or in her voice and emotions. When listeners try to find similar voices, they remember Shakira, Cher and Toni Braxton. Diana's voice is hers alone!

Diana, also called goosebumps queen, sang the cover of the cover of the song by Elvis Presley in the first episode of the competition 'Шоумаскгоон' (ShowMASKgoon). This was Diana's first adult competition in November 2021. She was the youngest competitor (aged 18) and wowed contestants and spectators with her first song.

The man who jumps up is the famous opera singer Yusif Eyvazov and husband of the world famous opera singer Anna Netrebko. He is the guest of honor and awards 9 points. Each episode has a new guest of honor.
The competitors have to assess each other and have praised Diana to the skies. They said of their performance: 'Diana has no competition on the show - she amazes with her talent - it's impossible to tear yourself away from her - you want to listen endlessly, they're in tears and they're even afraid to blink' .
8 participants (Diana cannot score herself) gave Diana the highest score (9). She won the first episode... and later won the contest.

You have just listened to what may be a true contralto. “Diana Ankudinova, A Russian National Treasure” (My opinion), I have been following her for a while. She is another very interesting story that you will discover. Wait until you hear “Wicked Games”, “Take On Me”, "Human" or "Rechenka" Even though it is in Russian you still feel the emotion behind it. I've heard her sing in Russian, English, French, German, Arabic and Spanish so far. No matter what language it is beautiful. The only one I can think of that is similar is Cher or maybe Shakira.

Great reaction! This performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course of the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles.

Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest is history.

SO.. yet another new singer for you to digest and dissect. Good luck dissecting Diana, my good friend. Rest assured, she's a one off. At least to MY knowledge. She has got what's called a POLYFONIC voice, essentially meaning that she's capable of singing two different lines of melody simultaneously. She's not the only one with that capability, even though it takes a larynx extraordinaire, but if you combine that ability with her insane range and feel, you get the one off that is called Diana Ankudinova. I have listened to quite a lot of her stuff, and I am subscribed to a Russian channel (and of course her own channel as well) which shows a lot of her not so well known work (at least to the western world.) IMO, this is where she shines the brightest.
I still remember MY first time hearing her, and I also had this FWT (arranged in a slightly different order) reaction. She had just turned 15 in that one, and it was also taken from a talent show. I'm sure the link will be blocked, so maybe try pasting 2018.09.05. "Derniere Danse" and see if that takes you there. As the title suggests, it's a French song (a very famous one at that) and she sings in French. After that I just HAD to dig deeper into her catalogue. Very intrigueing and special indeed.

Diana used very little means to completely alter the meaning of this song, considering her vocal capabilities, but she did so to great effect. It became the total opposite of the romantic Elvis song, depicting the dark side of love: I can't help falling in love with you although I know it is going to hurt me badly. That's what I am reading from the interpretation.
For your next reaction to Diana, I recommend 'Rechenka' (czcams.com/video/fEcvVINA304/video.html), a Russian traditional that she performed at a Russian talent show for underprivileged children when she was 14 years old. She has had a tough childhood and was abandoned from her abusive mother at very young age.

Everything she sings, she makes better. Diana is pronounced (DEE-ana An-ku-dee-na-va). Listen to how people announce her name before performances. Good Reaction. Keep watching. I am a Professional Studio Bass player for Top Artist, so I have heard it all, over the many years, but Diana is so special, She is the Very Best, believe me.
