    This video doesn't have NEARLY enough views. Every organ player should watch this at least .01% of the number times as it's by viewed altogether (right now a ridiculously low 40,386). So, 404 lessons for each of us... Get started! And those 15 folks who hit the thumbs-down icon obviously have severe hand/eye coordination issues.

      Thanks a lot for your kind feedback. For the thumbs-down-clicks I don't mind; and maybe people swiping on touch-inputs might accidentally hit a button, it happened to me a couple of times already ;)

    What kind of partitures I have to study if I like to play this style?

    • @henningdampel
      @henningdampel  Před 3 lety +3

      Well it's a mix of many techniques combining voicings, scales, patterns, arpeggios, playing outside, using rhythmic variations etc.
      First I learned blues pentatonics, then had drums lessons for 5 years, then studied a Jazz book by Frank Sikora ("Neue Jazz Harmonielehre") and trying out a lot. Going to Jazz Jam Sessions every week playing standards pushed this further. I guess this style is individual and it took me a lot of years to play like this.
      If you want we could discuss that further on Facebook or WhatsApp or ...
      Let me know if youre interested in lessons :)

    • @henningdampel
      @henningdampel  Před 5 lety

      What exactly do you mean with chopstix sounds?
      I know a lot of things about harmonics theory and scale techniques (though I still have to learn a lot!). Of course thats also important. This and a good rhythm feeling and being able to control the instrument is also essential for playing things like that.
      I'm always open to share my knowledge if you have any questions!

    • @henningdampel
      @henningdampel  Před 2 dny +1

      I have never played a Kurzweil, unfortunately.
      But I have a Roland FA-08: Bad internal leslie simulation, but sounds good with Neo Ventilator.
      Nord has a very good internal leslie simulation.
      Of course for live playing, I would never use my Roland for organ sounds - it has no drawbars.

      Make sure you have the leslie rotary setting on the right side on and the percussion on the left side too. It should sound the same unless your amp or PA is crappy.

      That's a Hammond's extension: the 73 model doesn't stretch out any lower, as it would not be a faithful simulation.

    • @horowizard
      @horowizard Před 3 lety

      @@andy5178 The fact that Hammond Organs have 61 note manuals doesn't matter. If you watch the video at 1:43 he's splitting the keyboard and using a Rhodes sound on the lower half so he needs the extra notes to complete the run.
