You know, every time I see this Cosworth in your videos, I’m fixated on it. Seriously, it’s just such a fine and beautiful example. Love your videos mate.
the reshell itself wouldnt be an issue for me either. my thought would be has the correct chassis number been stamped into the brand new shell, or was it rebuilt from an existing shell, which would make the car a ringer and therefore technically NOT the car its claimed to be! i have seen so many people caught out by that with reshelled cars. some people reshell them with 3 door 1.6l Sierra shells, which means they are no longer Cosworths BUT modified 1.6L sierras. yes they have all the parts BUT if the vin doesnt match what the car was built as, its NOT whats claimed. just a warning to all UK buyers out there.
Could people buy a new cosworth shell?then get vin stamped into it? Bc if it's another shell like from a lower spec Sierra then it should have that shells reg (and should still have original vin number and NOT this car's vin) this is classed as a ringer??
I've been trying to watch this video all evening, but had kids knocking on the door non stop because of Halloween lol Love it when a cars got a story, makes it that little bit more special and unique, especially one like that. Reshells are no bad thing in my eyes, it's a good thing it was saved.
Dude, I have no FUCKING idea of what he's even saying! I love the cars, I really wanted to watch this. But gawd damn, I can't under'fucking'stand him for the life of me. Does he even know that his tongue is supposed to be used for speech? LOL
Really enjoy your videos mate, brings back memories i was really into the ford scene late 90's early 2000's and managed to buy a 2wd saff and i re-shelled it into a 3 door track car. Greens, 3 bar, and a T34. Happy days!!!
You have one seriously nice car and as a young lad I would always day dream of having one of these when ever I so the mk1 cosworths you are so lucky to have such a special car and it could be a good investment when you retire as they will be worth a tun
Nice bloke , genuine person ,Nice cozzie been well looked after , and buy the way looks as if you took you bike test at Southwick same as me bike wise ... 🤣👍🏻👍🏻
Nice job mate,,, I remember when my mate JCMotorsports used to break cossies always remember a lovely 3door which he sold for not a lot I wished I bought one at the time I just made do with my series1 rs which I loved.
Mint Cosworth content your posting. Just a quick question I’m currently restoring a sapphire Cosworth and was wondering what sealer did you use for the underneath I want mine white as well ?
I lost my job in jig work in middle 90s when the cat right off laws changed its looky to find one like that that hasn't been deemed beond repair apart from C and D the rest get shipped abroad look at co part this country is a joke money to be made but they didn't make checks more stringent for quality of workmanship..good find nice job👍🏻
There must be quite a few similar Cosworth stories out there, i bought one with very similar damage (guy had overcooked a roundabout in the rain and slid sideways into a telegraph post at about 60mph) back in the 90's you could still buy Motorsport shells with no Sunroof so we reshelled it and changed the colour (ours ended up being red). I kept it until about 98 when i PX'd it against an Escort.
Great story. I had a less glamorous lamp post altercation riding shotgun in a really shite Renault way back in early 90s. Driver was going flat out in heavy rain and lost it at about 60. I saw the lamp post coming straight for my side and pulled my legs up. We rolled and knocked it over. My side of the car was basically gone, banana'd by the post. Woke up sat on drivers lap. I had some injuries but he came off worse- I broke his ribs getting shunted over to his side. Can remember bleeding all over somebody's white living room while waiting for ambulance. I got interviewed by cops in hospital - they thought I'd been ejected like yer man in the story and wouldn't believe I had survived the crash inside the car...
Adam Smith cool, why did you keep the reg of the smashed up shell and not use the reg of the replacement shell, just curious lol I always wanted one but way out of my price range now,
@@daz575 Exactly something not right here, can't use another cosworth shell then another cosworth reg, maybe is a brand new shell that didn't have any reg or vin? I think another lower spec Sierra shell was used and wanted to keep cosworth logbook,IF that's true then it's a ringer .??
I can tell you one thing, that car did not hit the lamp post at 100 mph, not a chance. Considering 80's Ford build strength, that looks 40-50 mph tops. Still bad enough obviously but nowhere near a ton.
had to work so hard to get my bike licence and vowed to always have a bike to ride once i passed which i have kept to so far, probably don't get the use out of it as i should but its always there when i want to have a blast however i don't own a cosworth lol

That rgv was nice would have been nice to keep alongside the sierra. I know a guy that came out the back window of a 300zx when he crashed, not sure you could say he was lucky though as he ended up with some brain damage.
I would rather have a re shelled car than a rust bucket . Thats what gets me with RS owners they spend to much time talking shit about people's cars and buying £750 parcel shelves to park it over a mirror at a show . Keep it nice and service it but actually drive it and enjoy it
Top story, top car...said it before, she’s a beauty mate! I also bought an RGV 250P brand new back in 1993, also had a Kawasaki KR-1 250 before that.. got to love a stroker. Got a ‘99 Fireblade now, but don’t use it much 🙈
A re shelled car is better than some bodge fix or cut and shut Let’s face it, how many people have bought a nearly new car that’s been in a serious smack and repaired without an insurance company or dvla ever knowing, there’s loads out there There was a red RS3 for sale earlier in the year in Surrey for 32k, when you look the reg up on google it came up at a salvage yard with the front torn off it and the side stoved in I hope nobody got caught out with that one!
Best story ever to a car and the lad that fell out the sunroof did he own a fiesta with 2 super chargers Lamborghini suspension Ferrari gear box lol shore I seen him on a video before lol 😂
Great history lesson on your car Adam. I remember in the early 90s buying cars from Simpson salvage and them having loads of 3 door cosworth shells. I'm sure they where 2k..
I bought 10 off fords at the time we used to repair a lot of cossies 2doors and saffs they were fully panelled doors bonnet etc they had the later mk2 floor pans in and a few extra strengthening fillets I am sure they were £500 and £252 no panels
Holy shit!! That's a proper mental story mate. Surely the passenger must have been bladdered to think that undoing the seatbelt, while going 100mph and sideways was a good idea haha!!! Lucky for him it actually worked out. In my hometown we had a bouncer plow a Cossie through a wall at supposedly well over 100mph (in a 30mph road going through the middle of town, a spitting distance from the cop shop!) in the mid 90s. Unfortunately the end result wasn't so good (at least 3 dead, from what I remember) all that remains is a half rebuilt wall and a plaque for the poor sods involved.
@@Adam151082 I'm sure they're a million times better than the Astra GTE 16v that I used to drive like a twat back in the day! You could gently poke the doors, bonnet etc and it used to flex, no front impact protection. I knew that if I stacked that at speed I was a goner. Still did it though haha! Those older cars were super light compared to today's motors though. Your Cossie weighs about the same as a modern VW Polo, things are safer, but they just ain't so much fun.
