The original was shot on 16mm, blown up and matted for 35mm prints. Home video versions of the original were cropped back to 4:3 from the matted 1.85:1 35mm prints. We now see the full 16mm frame for the complete film for the first time.
I was watching the Martin Scorsese doc about George Harrison last night, and they had some footage from the Get Back sessions in it (obviously pre-Peter Jackson) and it’s incredible how clear the remix of the sound is, it was nearly impossible to hear the dialogue in the old version of the footage
Wow, the improvement is remarkable. For example, look at Georges hair at the 1:14 mark it looks an indistinct blob in the original version and you can see the individual strands in the improved version. Greatly improved video definition in the new version and that goes for the audio too!
For me, that movie was dark and grainy, even when I saw it in the theater. Back then, the film distributors must have made 2nd and 3rd generation copies of it, to get wider distribution. Either that, or the original footage was 16mm, like the Concert for Bangladesh film.
It was 16mm, then matted to get from a 4:3 picture to a 16:9 picture. The home video release was further cropped to 4:3 from the 16:9 matting. This is the first time we get to see the film in its full frame, and not zoomed in.
@@DLZ2000 It's wonderful that they still had the original edited master film, and not the reduced prints to get extra imagery. I know that EMI made sure all the Beatle stuff was archived, or we would never have had the Get Back documentary. Looking forward to seeing it.
Get Back was done without duplicating any footage from Let it Be prior to the rooftop shoot and Paul’s piano songs which could not be performed on the rooftop.
@@ianderbyshire7931Yes, I know I rented a official release VHS version in the 80’s. Then at some point the movie vanished. Hope the new version is released on blu-ray. I have Get Back but would buy this as well.
it was released back in 1970 but the quality was poor, this was released for the first time in 50 years. that's where you're getting released for the first time from.
Still don't see the attraction/hype for this. The whole reason it was shelved for over 50 years was that it was supposedly, a depressing look at the growing acrimony of a band about to break up. Enter the 2021 3 part documentary (which I still haven't seen) that showed, ostensibly, quite the opposite - the band having fun. The lighting was better, the atmosphere much lighter. So the rehash of "Let It Be" is going to top the 3 part documentary?? Right!
I think theres no 'original copy'. What we already see before is bad vhs bootleg copy from the theatre release. Alas i don't see it in theatre when it first release . So i cannot compare. Maybe better from the 1970 version or looked the same as in theatre.
@@VITOLINOBOSS where is what? The title of this video should be: NEW Let it Be vs VHS Let It Be. The original film looked much better than the crappy vhs copy shown here as "original".
@@elmerseiscientos that's exactly what im asking you, where was the original film and why did we had to wait for Disney to release it publicly 50 years after? 😅
@@VITOLINOBOSS I assume that the original film was stored along with the rest of the film that Peter Jackson rescued and restored for his documentary. Fortunately, the restoration of the film Let It Be has been done respecting the original texture and colors, as Lindsay-Hogg requested, better than Jackson's documentary. The reasons we've had to wait 50 years for this are beyond me.
Different. Though not that different. And honestly the aged analog look on original gives it a nice nostalgic feel to it. In the end this upgrade not necessary.
so much more cleaner, and the sound is much more loud which is awesome.

It's crazy what technology could do these days
probably one of the few Disney W's of the last couple years
The new film looks likely yesterday, makes me a bit melancholy to think it was over 50 years ago when I was a kid.
0:33 REALLY highlights the improvement by showing things that you couldn't even see!
Hope they also put it on blu ray

the clarity is amazing.. major difference!! they did a great job.
VHS copy I bought over 20 years ago was barely watchable. So glad we got a beautiful re-release.
I just watched this. I enjoyed it.
どうやったらこんなに画質が良くなるんだろう?素晴らしい技術だ.
Must renew my subscription to Disney for a bit, though I hope this comes out on blu-ray

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!!
Thanks for the comparison. Major difference. I was waiting for this for years and am happy that they didn't mess up and make it wide screen
Thank you technology for making this possible
Can you upload the Disney documentary to Google Drive please, in Spanish sub, greetings from Argentina
Yes please that would be great
There's things in let it be film not in get back. Lib should be watched first then the get back which is bonus footage.
I hope they do this on "Imagine"
*Apples / galaxy ultra*
I love Paul McCartney ❤
Don't need to put an apostrophe for "thanks".

Yeah right😅just my bad Englinsh
I’ll be ready for the bootleg DVD of the new print, which WILL get out regardless. You don’t mess with Beatle collectors. You’ll get your hand bitten.

HOW do they restore the detail like this?
By having the original 16mm film.
Scanning the original film and cleaning it up
magic!

What's the difference between Get Back docu and Let It Be Docu?
Get Back was done without duplicating any footage from Let it Be prior to the rooftop shoot and Paul’s piano songs which could not be performed on the rooftop.
Get back is basically let it be but longer
They had some same footage from twickenham and apple studios, but not so much
Paul sings Let It Be and Long and Winding Road without interruption .Really missed seeing that in Get Back
Viva a tecnologia
So obvious difference!
What do you mean by "original"? It's released for the first time, so everything until now is bootleg.
It had a theatrical release in 1970 and a VHS release in the early 1980s

Did they use AI for this as well?
Believe so
MAL was used to enhance the audio quality, technology not available to the public. The 16mm film was restored by Peter Jackson and his team.
