I think the problem is that you are putting your finger in front of the string, instead try putting ur finger in the back of the string.
You may have put the string on wrong

If you mean get the string back around the yoyo when your done, I usually just put my finger at the middle of the yoyo and wrap it around that finger until it’s done, then remove that finger.

Are you doing this with a responsive yoyo?
No. Most tricks you cannot do with those yoyos, basically responsive yoyos come back to you when you spin/drop them and unresponsive yoyos just spin and don’t come back up.
@@Blued_Vrthis is a responsive yoyo. you can do tons of tricks on responsive yoyos it's just the advanced string tricks that are very hard to do on responsive yoyos and may not even be possible.

I don’t understand. I’m using a sage responsive yo-yo. I’ve got everything up to this point down to a science but as soon as I try this trick and I wrap the string around the yo-yo it stops. All the mechanics are right. I can’t goddamn make it spin any faster. Everything is straight and lined up too. As soon as there’s more than one string width in that narrow gap against the friction pads, the yo-yo stops almost immediately. Gd HELP.
Are you using the vip barring with shadowpads or the the regular?

I got a sage. It absolutely does not spin that long.
Same. I have a K2 crystal yo-yo and it’s amazing how long it was spinning for a responsive yo-yo. I got almost 1 minute spin time with out any string trick. But the sage only spin for 20 secs felt like I got ripped off. I bought the lube for it so hopefully it spins longer
The bearing in the Sage and the K2 are identical, which means the difference in spin time is just how the response is setup. We opted for a more consistent response in the Sage, which, while making the yoyo much easier to use because it comes back easier, can reduce spin time. The K2 has a much less consistent response because the response pads are setup to be wider. You can achieve the same feel with the Sage by putting in normal response pads... which you will do anyway when setting it up for unresponsive play. Our feel was if you want long spin times, go unresponsive. If you want it to be easy to use, go responsive. Or you can split the difference and go one thick pad and one regular pad to get longer spins but still pretty decent response.
Put the thinner ghost pads on mine. Less responsive and more room for stacking the strings in the channel. Have yet to mess with the unresponsive bearing however.

Most likely that means the string is pushing into the sides of the yoyo when you get it onto the string.
