one of my fondest childhood memories is eating bali prawns at this one fancy restaurant i used to go to sometimes with my parents. i would eat nothing else, just bali prawns. i moved away from that city more than 10 years ago but i still think of those bali prawns from time to time. i guess it's finally time to make my favourite childhood dish myself now! thank you for sharing the recipe marion!!
Happy Holidays To you and your family Marion! :) Bali Prawns are actually a dish which originated in Odisha,India. Bali here refers to the "sand-like" texture which you feel when you take a bite of the prawn. It's extremely famous all over the state and you did a fantastic job as usual making it! Lots of love
Thank you..I just realised that it's from.our state Odisha..thanks for the info
I did have Bali prawn for the first time at Puri, Odisha and fell in love with it. Had no idea the dish originated there. Thanks for sharing the info
Correctly said
Ya let's claim
I’m
After watching many videos. This is number one. excellent.
100% perfect, very organised and tidy.
Thank you ❤️
Whenever marion posts something crispy im all excited
Hello, Bali prawns are actually originated from Odisha, i have done some research on it and it does have connection with Bali Indonesia. Odisha had a beautiful navigation culture with Indonesia, Bali. We also celebrate our navigation culture on return of our navigators " As Bali Yatra". Typically Indonesia has food with rice and crispy chicken and prawns in sticks which is very common street food. Similar to that the authentic Bali Prawns are flattened and poked with a stick and those are crisp fried and served with plum sauce or something sweet and hot.
It is originated from Odisha and you will hardly find it in any part of India. But it also had some cultural relevance with Bali, Indonesia

Corn flakes crumbs are the best! In America we use it for chicken, like tenders or “nuggets” a lot. Or even a wonderful pork chop! Yum!!

This recipe looks amazing! p.s. Does anyone else notice how Marion moves in slow motion? I always thought it was an edit feature slowing down her movements, but in this video it is obvious it is how she actually moves. I find that interesting.
I was thinking, as I was watching, was how graceful Marion is while cooking.
I Love cooking with u and your mom
You should make Indian green chutney with adding little ripe raw mango you will love it we eat it with all starters
I love your channel! Think I'm going to try this coating for Fish and Chips! Just the fish! I had the BEST Fish and Chips in a restaurant in Oregon (USA). This could have been a very similar coating.
I like your thinking Martin... I want to try that with fish n chips too. 🙌🇬🇧

I made these before, and used them as part of a salad. It was to die for.
This is very helpful recipe thanks dear 😋 so yummy.... from Pakistan
I cook your food all the time
Will try this recipe 👆🏽
I just made these, they are delish! But I always have trouble with the coating staying on. Then I forget I suck at that until I make something again and then I'm like, oh... right... damn. LOL. I loved the sauce that goes with it, makes for a perfect balance.
These are amazing and large just like I love them! (I've been eating these for like 2 weeks😳) I just buy them frozen..surprisingly they're making these frozen ones very well now? They bring like 14-16...so I'm alone, and I get 3 servings out of the pkg😋
Will try 😂
Hello Marion thank you for your wonderful delicious yummy Recipe and thank you for your beautiful video and merry Christmas 🎄🎁 ♥️♥️🌲🌼🌼🎋💓💓🔵🔵🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺😍😍🌷🌹🌹🟢🌻🟣🟣🌟🌟💕💕💕💞💞💞💞🌸🌸😗🌼🌼🌲🌲🔴🔴🔴💚💚🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁💚💚🎄🔴♥️♥️💐😘😘💛💛💗💗💕💕💞🌸😗🎋💓💓💓🔵🌻🌻🟢🌹🌹🌷😍🌺🌺🌺😍🌷💞🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁💚🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄💚💚🎁🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲💐💚🎁🎁🎁🎁🎁🎄🎄
Believe it or not, my mom used Kellog's corn flakes for a breading agent back in the early 60's. A ything that was a 'quick fry' like thin fillets of fish, cutlets, and as in this case, shrimp. It won't work when used for long fry items like whole bone-in chicken parts. Corn flakes cook fast, too fast for fried chicken unfortunately.
Bali prawn is actually from a state called Odisha in India. ‘Bali’ in Odia means sand because of the texture of this dish. It’s an extremely popular dish in weddings and also available as a street food and most restaurants in Odisha. It’s one of the tastiest dishes that I know
Aha...At first , I though this from Balinese Food. I am from Bali, and never heard about this Bali Prawn recipe...Thanks for the info Marion. I would try this recipe :)
Another banger
Hi Marion, love your videos. Can you use this method with chicken?
Would love to see your version of spanish prawn tapas
It’s so true!!! Instant friend making recipe: turn up with something crispy and fried 😂
Wow...
Love your recipes!!! 😋👌This prawn recipe is similar to the one sold on Kolkata's streets and Bali/Bally is a small town on the outskirts of Kolkata.
😋😋😋
LMAOOOO That salad jibe🤣😂
Love this recipe!! Any tips on how to dispose the oil after frying?
I usually (first strain it if I want to use the oil again) save the bottles that the oil comes in. I let the oil cook completely and then pour it back in the bottle to dispose of it.
I would like to suggest that you should start using the word „marion-ating“ when marinating food with a close up camera eye-wink every time you repeat it. 😉
My mom use to do my brother and i. Fried chicken with the corn flakes breading
🤤
Luv the banana leaf, where in Aust is this available please
Love your cooking show . Can you show how to make fried cheese shrimp/lobster ..I believe is Cantonese style . Thank you in advance.
LOOKS YUMMO. I have a kilo of frozen cooked prawn, don`t suppose I could use them with this recipe?
My suggestion is to make kip smoor (Dutch-Indonesian dish). My Oma (grandma) would make this all the time and we'd call it Oma's Chicken. Every Dutch-Indonesian person I've met also all know this dish as Oma's Chicken haha.
👍🏻👍🏻👌
Damn,I make your Chicken 65 like once a week now, it's so delicious. Will try this one too.
Oh I love that one!! So happy you do too!
We ramped this up by using Birds eye chili powder instead of Kashmiri chilli powder.
