I remember we had those in my support company when I was in the Army, they flattened the Bivwac site for the main company when we did field operation. The operators were all being trained to operate them. We would load them on LCM-8s myself this was 1976. We also had the short boom cranes with the blade on front.

That's a beauty! D7 was very popular for building logging roads in the mountains of British Columbia.
That looked better than pushing around gravel at the shop.
