The singer is Amy "Gypsy" Ravish. You can find this song on her CD "Enchantress." She lives in Salem, MA and is an absolute delight. We need more Witches like her! Smart, devoted, and real.
This is from a video that was recorded at Pagan Spirit Gathering by the Canadian Women's Film Group. I was involved with the planning of the circle. I and several of my friends were in this video. A still picture that the Canadian Women's Film Group took made it's way into Margo Adler's 2nd edition of Drawing Down the Moon. It was a picture of us getting our faces painted. It was a very special time. Currently I found where you can get all three of the videos. www.kinolorber.com/film/womenandspiritualitythegoddesstrilogy
connecting with energies through the use of a song is an excellent method.. music has always been something that i can connect with strongly and ironically i haven't incorporated it into any ritual or the like this video actually gives me some ideas :) so thank you for posting such an inspiring clip ^^ ---jen
I love that song, her voice is so powerful. Depending on the tradition/path of these pagan witches, there is likely a ritual being held for the men in the group in another location. This ritual most likely focuses on fertility and spiritual bonding with members of your sex . So don't feel left out guys, you get your celebration too. The male God usually has more focus in rituals that take place in Summer, again depending on the tradition, most paths keep the sexes in compleat balance.
Loving it!!! I don't care if my friends think I am wasting my life or calls me Satan behind my back. How could anyone ignore something so enchanting??? Blessed be.
Who are you to judge anyone?! Concentrate on the way you live your OWN life and how you treat others. I hope to laugh and dance with you in heaven someday. Be Blessed!
@lawnsausages the face painting heightens the ecstatic power of the ritual as it is applied to the face, being smeared on, then anointing the face as you chant together ;)
PS the exact book title I was referring to was this: The Divine Feminine by Virginia Mollenkott. Despite two less -than -favorable Amazon reviews, it is a very good examination of Biblical reference to God as female.
What a beautiful circle of woman , What a powerful high prestess, I love the tune to that chant , what chant is that? I nevver heard it before. merry meet merry part and merry meet again!
Whoops, sorry, I hit the wrong button on your other comment! I wanted to say that the song is called "Lady" by Gypsy on the cd Enchantress. And it IS a very beautiful song!! )0( Bright Blessings
oh this is wonderful! I trying to find an all women circle in my area but it is so hard. I am a dianic wiccan but belong to no circle or coven right now and watching this video makes me want to be! Do you have anymore all women's ritual videos? I think I might have to start my own =)
And they exchanged the truth of God for lies, and they revered and served created things more than their Creator, to whom belong praises and blessings to the eternity of eternities, amen.
By the way, stefanie, congratulations for your respectful position in this discussion. I always rejoice to see christians behaving as such and pointing their beliefs without attacking others. It is unfortunate to see so much intolerance from those who follow a Master of peace... ...and it is a relief to see that such intolerance exists only in some of them, not in all. :)
@astridkitty1212 Wait a second. If you mean anything sexual by this, I did NOT mean it that way! In this case, the face painting is meant to be a NON-sexual anointnment, like hugging someone who is JUST your friend.
Fascinatingly enough it was Roman woman who started Christianity moving about the empire. Early Christianity was more female friendly than allot of Roman practices. (I hope this doesn't get put into the main thread where it becomes non-germane)
i lvoe how you pagan people are so close to nature. i might never be a pagan and stay agnostic, but very much respects to you. you spread peace, and that's what it's all about.
well yeah I know that. I understand what you mean though, and in partialy I agree. but everybody has flaws in what they say, even your saying "dont call a horse a pig" (I know you were pointing out a fact with that) but words were also created. who is to say what a horse is, it doesn't matter how we say the words because it matters on what we mean by them. No matter how much someone tries to point out something someone else will have an argument.
Why is it when I do an Engine Search for images of Wicca women I get an artist rendition of beautiful women but if I throw the word "real" into the search there aren't any. Why is that?
I come from a Jehova's Witness family, so my mom was kind of hateful toward different, but thats what I liked so I have come into things where I believe in spirits, and energy, Nature. I wouldn't call myself in a religion or anything like that, I'm myself whos in tune with nature and spirits. but I love to listen to chants, and other things like that. I really enjoyed that, great voice ^_^

And I do want to thank you for being so concerned for everyone's souls.
(Truely not meant with sarcasm!)

Why is it when I do an Engine Search for images of Wicca women I get an artist rendition of beautiful women but if I throw the word "real" into the search there aren't any. Why is that?
@punkprincesskj there's a whole bunch of Wiccans in the Pacific Northwest
I come from a Jehova's Witness family, so my mom was kind of hateful toward different, but thats what I liked so I have come into things where I believe in spirits, and energy, Nature. How do know if your a pagan or a witch or what ever it is called? How do you know if you are a wiccan or not? if you can answer this then please do
Blessed be to all )O(
beautiful ,I wish I was a woman so I could join in their ritual.
By the way what is the name of this song ?
beautiful )O(
Any person who listens to the beauty of this woman's voice and finds it to be madness/blasphemy, has something profoundly amiss with their soul.
So as long as someone's voice is nice, their beliefs must be valid.
Makes sense.
Oops--sorry! Thought you were commentingon the vid, not the fundie. :)
Blessed Be )O(
