There are two magic buttons on the R25's, I only showed one in my video. I'm not saying I've never had to replace a reset switch but it is very rare. Not a normal wear item. Should you suspect a bad reset switch best to take it in to your local Riccar dealer. The bad reset switch may be a symptom of another issue.
@@ClassicVacuum I have one of the older Riccars that take a type A bag.... Had the vacuum for 15 years or so. Definitely the thermal...they are a moving part...and to test you still have to remove the motor which is a poor design in my opinion...Could have easily made an access panel.
Getting to the motor is easy when your are a vacuum repair guy :-) The R25 motor is much easier to get into than the older Riccars. One can get in there with with out taking of the nozzle.
We have a Simplicity Wonder P.2 Tandem vacuum cleaner and it just quit working. Bag had just been replaced and been used several times since it's replacement, but bag is no where near being full( I'd say less than 1/4 full). It quit working without warning (no noise) and there's no reset button that I've found. It's a cannester style. What could be wrong?
There is a thermal reset in this machine. The vacuum should start working again after a few hours. If you have picked up any fine powder this could cause the bag to need to be changed even if it is not full. The Full Bag indicator should show this. Check the filter behind the bag and the HEPA filter. Those should be changed once a year. Also you may have a clog in the hose, wand, or the neck in the power head. Start by changing the bag and run the machine with this hose disconnected. Add the hose, then wand, then head. Watch the full bag indicator and listen for any change. This will indicate the location of the clog. You could also have a machinal issue with the motor. If you can search for a local Riccar dealer here: www.riccar.com/where-to-buy
what a pain in the butt! I can only get thru about half the house before it kicks out on me. Yes, I have pets, but there is really NOT THAT MUCH pet hair, and the hose is not clogging. I can't believe I spent so much on a vacuum that has such a stupid feature. It is NOT HOT, not at all...I can touch it anywhere and it is barely warm.
It's quite possible that the reset itself is faulty. The part it's self is in expensive and should be covered under warranty. Find your nearest Riccar service location here: www.riccar.com/where-to-buy
Thanks for the video!! Question. I’ll be purchasing a new Simplicity Hepa upright vacuum. A local guy said there have been issues with the steel roller being out of balance and that I should go with the one with the composite roller. Any thoughts. I think he said it was a different brand name then simplicity.
I've not seen that with my inventory. Any issue like that would be replaced under warranty. Riccar is a higher grade than Simplicity, they are manufactured by the same company, Tacony Corp.
I would recommend the vacuum be taken to your local Riccar dealer, or vacuum repair shop if there are no authorized Riccar service locations. It sounds like your machine will need more advanced troubleshooting to find the issue.

Sure enough. Clog by the roller where the dirt first goes into the vacuum. Cleared it, hit the reset button. Good as new.
