Embarrassing ! They thought all they had to do was step on the ice. Bill Buckner can rest in peace. Biggest choke of all time. Out coached out muscled and out played.
I said from the beginning that the Bruins were making a fatal error by putting Ullmark as the one and only starter. They should have kept their winning rotation with him and Swayman. Once they messed with that rotation, the whole team also started to unravel. Took themselves too seriously and tried to over-control instead of just carrying on and enjoying the moment.
No..but that still belongs to Boston 2010. Lost 4 straight to Philly after being up 3 games to none and 3 -0 leading in game 7. Boston Stranglers Choke me baby 🤣🤣😂🙃
It was a total team collapse. They didnt play their game in one game the entire Panthers series. The defense couldnt move the puck or get the puck out . The goalies were horrendous and lazy and carless. This is what the Bruins do they choke!
Good point made by MM. Bruins clinch first overall March 30. Bergeron gets hurt in Montreal April 13. You know the playoffs are an endurance test. You know that injuries are going to be a factor. Why would any of the Bruin's top players be playing (or playing much) after March 30? Two weeks to rest those guys. Two weeks to rotate goalies and get the 3rd stringer a game or two (I stand to be corrected if they did that) . Two weeks to get 3rd and 4th liners and potential call-ups more minutes. Injuries are part of the game. Guys get hurt in practice, but in a nothing game? Why tempt fate?
Wth, Mike... everyone's had 3 years to learn, if not already, how to frame a video camera. Be prepared. Wear a collar. Drink your coffee to look alert. And sit upright and not stoop. The guy's got 20+ years sitting in wardrobe green rooms and watching tv producers line camera shots...
One strange thing about Bob, he’s lived in Canada most of his life and earned his living here yet he always calls himself American and as far as we know never applied for Canadian citizenship….. another Bobcat quirk
Do you think that because the Panthers squeaked in that maybe we underestimated them? We gave them a chance and confidence where they believed they could beat us.
You all have to give the Panthers some credit. Boston took two games on the road, was up 3-1 and then lost the next 3 of which two were home games for Boston. As of today the Panthers went up 2-0 on the Leafs with both games in Toronto. You always want to play your best at the end of the season.
Old Boston guy, watching since 1963, I played a lot of hockey, when your up 3 to 1 your supposed to win the series, but, a big but, if the underdog, like the Panthers, a win in game 5 can shift the momentum, then game 6 becomes loaded with pressure, you hold the stick a little tighter, you play not to make mistakes, that's exactly what happened, the Panthers were playing for their life, after game 5 I really felt it might be over, and that's what happened, now their on a crazy 5 game win streak, even though they got outplayed, the hockey gods have taken up residence in the Panthers locker room.
I had Boston getting knocked out of contention by Buffalo and Ottawa. They had a great season. But I didn’t expect a deep run. Whereas most crowned them Stanley Cup champions in February.
Great discussion, but if you expert hockey analysts want to look into the crystal ball ----- you're going to be having the very same discussion next week when Panthers knock off the Leafs (maybe in 4)! I can just hear it now---- "What went wrong with the Toronto Maple Leafs?"
Does anyone else see the pattern. Bruins were nervous, true. Their defence was not matching Panthers physical play. Ulmark stopped attacking shooters at top of the crease. Finally, you insert Bergeron and Kreijci ( both older and hurting, nowhere near 100%) into the line up against a young aggressiveforecheck and all of a sudden they can’t get out of their own end. Should have kept the injured centre out of games 5 and 6 , gibe them their swan song for game 7 if you want.
Bad management. Ruined the team chemistry. Injured key players. Tinkered with the goaltending. 1-they gave up a boatload of picks, including two first rounders, for “depth”, for “insurance”. Ruined the team chemistry. 2) If you’re concerned about depth and injuries, forget about the most wins in history record and rest the starters. Nope. 3) The goaltender rotation produced top results in virtually every statistical category. Why mess with it?
No Way did I pick Boston! I was totally right in my Call. I said if Florida gets in they are going to give Boston a rough ride and one team that will beat them. And I was 100% right!! 🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧
@@justadude2800 The team in front of him wasn’t really that good. He won it for them himself. They were outplayed and he saved them. Watch the series when you get a chance.

I never picked them. Of Course i'm not as smart as you guys. So I had to look at history, where not too many have breezed through the season and got a cup. Now in my limited Hockey knowledge I have learned that you can coach and improve a team, get them more motivated, when they lose some games and need to struggle a bit. Where as a team that hardly loses, is very hard to tell them anything they need to improve on. So you get to the end and the other guy knows you better than you.
Larry Robinson once said that back in 77 they lost a game after a winning streak of 18, and the only thing scotty Bowman did at practice is have them skate for 1.5 hour. The point is that if don't lose, you really don't know how to adjust.
The team that has the best shot at going deep into the playoffs is the good team that doesn't care about finishing first in the league. You can either win the season or win the playoffs. Too often the teams that have played hard for an entire season are banged up and exhausted come playoff time. It's all about peaking at the right time.
I didn't like how they finished the year. Should have been calling up more players from Providence and essentially throwing games in late March and early April. The wins and points record was meaningless and only gave an experienced coach like Maurice more ammunition for his locker room.
Tampa absorbed that lesson painfully but successfully. Maybe Florida did as well--even if they were fortunate the Penguins fell apart late in the season.
Had Marchand scored late in game 5 the series would have ended like absolutely everyone thought to begin with. 4-1 Boston. Now Boston’s season means exactly as little as Washingtons or Columbus or SAN jose. All teams with zero playoff series wins. The regular season is fun while it’s happening, but the second the playoffs start it is history that won’t even be spoken of again in the near future. Boston had their chance this year. One shot from playing the leafs, who they would have beaten. Nothing came out of the opportunity. Nothing.
Your Stanley Cup window is quickly closing , Bergeron..old , Marchand..old, both are slowing down ,and next year dont expect to repeat like last season . Jack Edwards is in therapy !
Unfortunately we were off to a disrupted start with that flu bug and it had an effect on game one and 2 and we never seemed to be able to come out of it.
For instance Russian goalies are doing nothing in the playoffs and it's not as if some German guy has even shown up for Edmonton. Maybe you should honk less and read more.
Maybe he has eye problems? He's not young anymore. Looks like there is a lot of light in his room. It took years to find the settings to relieve that.
Weren't built for the playoffs. Too soft with too many turnovers. Players (Bergeron, Marchant) ran the team with a figure head coach. Cassidy was too hard on the younger players. Wah, wah. Cassidy having the last laugh now. By the way, I'm a Bruins fan

Their goalie's hot at the right time also.
And Florida has carried that into a series against a team that is truly fragile.
When the trade decimated, basement dwelling, Blackhawks beat them,

They lost in seventh-game overtime. One shot the other way and all is good.

TSN turning point Marchand breakaway save.
Uhlmark and Bergy should not have played in game 5. It’s on the coach.
