- Harry Chapin's "Taxi" (1972) and "Sequel" (1980) are brought together as one song, blended nicely together in this combined remix for a complete extended version of these two Chapin classics.
I hope y'all enjoy it.
I make no claims on/for this video. I do not own the images or music. It is solely for entertainment viewing & listening purposes.
You just made a 73 year old man. Listen to these two stories twice in a row. I had the joy of seeing Harry sing several times in Toronto. After each time I listen to him, my eyes seem to get damp. The age I am born not long after WW11. We were taught by our parents to never cry. But somehow I think this would be an exception. Thank You
You cry with your bad self. I am from LI where he passed on the LIE. Great storyteller bad driver. Such a loss of talent. Have a great rest of your day.😢
This brings me right back to 72' and all the memories. Courtesy of Harry Chapin ♥️. Harry...you are missed RIP
I heard Harry 4 times and was never disappointed. His stories were always poignant and reflected the truth of the emotional core of our lives. Everyone could relate to his stories. Singer, storyteller, humanitarian. A short life well lived. RIP
my beautiful mum told mi listen to taxi sequel this afternoon as she just recently found this 1one.... mum says "I cried as I listened to the words" I cried wit her in a way as I listened now.... how's these songs grow wit you in tyme.... thank you!! 'S2S2'
I first heard Harry in 1976 in Arizona on the radio. Didn't know who he was then. Then while in Germany and living in a barracks I heard him again through a door. I recognize the song, it was Taxi again. So I met the guy and he introduced me to Harry and his music... I been a fan ever since. That has been 43 years now. I've heard a few interviews, but have always enjoyed all his music. I'm sure the Good Lord has been enjoying his music ever since!
a classic forever and ever
RIP Harry - 42 years ago today.
You were correct Mr Chapin . Maybe you predicted your end when your last words to your Sequel were Only time will tell? In less than a year after writing these beautiful songs you found yourself on a highway passing a semi. You were a wonderful storyteller. I think you would have had a long wonderful career. Thank You Mr Chapin .
AMEN !
Thanks Harry. EPIC song. Rest in peace. You left us too soon.
One can only imagine what Harry could have produced if he had the other 30 years he deserved
That song still gives me chills to this day awesome story 😍
What a great folk song and singer with all of his songs.
A song that hits too close to home ,as you see my name is " Harri" and my ex wife and my son's mother was named " Sue "
She unfortunately passed on way too early , years after we broke up .
One of my biggest mistakes and regrets.........she was a registered nurse not an actress
Farewell My Lady ,will will always miss your gentle smile and kind Heart ..........Rest in Peace my Lady !
your not alone, .a lot of us look back and see regrets. its suppose to be a learning experience but it still hurts
I'm so sorry.
Me to
People don't realize that there was going to be a third sequel verse to the story, but as we all know, 😢 time ran out.
Getting to be all the good story tellers are gone and now it's just screaming and banging 😢😮.
RIP Harry 🙏 ⚰ 🙏.
Saw an interview He did for a Pittsburgh PA TV station it was in the back of a taxi on his way to perform !! I'll always remember him that way rip Harry
For those of us this age, how do you not dream when you hear this song? It brings together his earlier work with his later. Superb beyond words.
So many miles...too many Sue in the rear view mirror. The road goes on. Miles to go. 1 day I will feel strange and thirsty and pull into a highway diner for a beer. When I sit down and notice my old friend Harry on a bar stool next to me. A smile will come over my face and I will know the road is over. No roads cross the sky. Save a bar stool for me brother.
Time can never erase these memories...thx archangel
I heard Harry sing this in the summer of 1980 in the Bay Area. It was rather surreal and he relished wowing the audience with Sequel there. After the concert, I waited in line to have Harry autograph my album. I was a 22 year old earth mama and he looked into my eyes, smiled and said, "I don't want to regret not kissing your lips", then he kissed me sweetly. Maybe I looked familiar, it was the 4th and last time I heard him perform. RIP Harry. I'm busy trying to act happy.
some people are takenway to soon rip harry
What a beautiful memory.
Lucky woman with a great memory !
Beautiful memory and I am so happy you got to experience this. Tickets are so expensive now that you almost have to mortgage something to see any of them. The artists that started out on their own terms and playing in different venues for 35$ to see them, these were the ones that promoted and paid to have their own pressed. Cody Jinks is this artist and he even said he wouldn’t do this to his fans. Well check his tickets sales now, 500$+ just for one ticket. And I have bought all of his albums because he was making it in his own way and on his own terms. And my granddaughter at 15 yo discovered him around the time I invested in a vintage system to play these vinyls on. If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t buy anything else from him.
I was fortunate to see him and his band in 1979.I will always remember my wife called on the day he passed and where I was.RIP Harry
.my Brother turned me onto Harry Chapin back in the 1970s, been listening to him ever since.
When a beautiful voice sings a beautiful story you have Harry Chapin.
Nicely mixed, thanks!
Thanks!
The absolute best way to listen to this tale. Harry hit the nail on the head with this very eloquent story. Running into old friends and/or lovers after a time is so bittersweet
Yea I ran into a ex I Haven't seen in 30 years we dated for 3 years she looked tired and worn out it was awkward and I had this song on my mind walking to my car its strange how you never know !!! She said I'll Facebook friend you but I knew it wasn't happening that was a year ago !!! Still waiting Gina !!!!!!

Yup. As Harry says, "you never can tell and sometimes it's just as well". Sometimes I'll listen to this and "Same Auld Lang Syne" together. Then the Moody Blues' "In Your Wildest Dreams" followed by their "sequel" "I Know You're Out There Somewhere".
@@fredhutzler9472 I get the same BS. Don't feel bad. Women want honesty, but they can lie.
Wow this is such a wonderfully sad & poignant, and wonderful orchestration too
Perfect . Thank you J.G Soriano .
It was my pleasure!
Probably one of my favorite songs.....
Great song
My pleasure!
In 1975 I had to write a paper for a high school English class. I played Taxi over and over and turned it into my paper. Got a B+ only because it was a little short in length. With this extended version I could have pulled an A. I often wondered if the teacher later heard this song and my paper popped up in her head as I closely followed most of the song. Thank you Harry, rest in peace. It's a great song and I like the remix even better.
Really cool story David, class of 75 😎
lmao. i did this in 1969 in HS. senior yr english. I penned out Cream's Tales of brave Ulysses' and got an A-. Except the class laughed as it was popular and when the teacher asked they said my gf helped me. today the pisspots would urat u out. thanks for the memory.
One of the greatest masterpieces ever written. I have tears listening beautiful!
This is a wonderful story in your own right. I hope your teacher did recall your paper. I can see her in her car with tears rolling down her cheeks when “Taxi” comes on the radio. I love this song and I had the pleasure of seeing Harry perform “Taxi” in person in 1978. My brother learned to play it on his guitar because he knew how much I loved it. Plus, it was really fitting. I give you ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for your paper. Have a great day and I hope you still listen to one of the best story tellers of all time.
@@amyduckworth4796 Thank you Amy. We miss these great artists. Wish you the best.
So fortunate to have seen a live performance with Harry
Harry was one of my favorites . Even sniper they all have a meaning and a joy to listen to. ........
I don’t know about Shakespeare. “It is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved.” It sure does hurt. Some regrets will always be painful. Learned and trying not to repeat. 🙏🏽
Loved this. Beginnings & Endings. Only time will tell. Thanks for sharing!
THANKyou!! A wonderful song; and the orchestra sure adds to it remaining etched in my ears for so MANY years.
Very kind words.
Well done - Thanks.
Thank you. I hope ya enjoyed it.
Harry , you are Missed !

Thank you.
Very nice! Thanks
Your very welcome!
....at last I like myself.
Beautiful, I hope life is treating you well J.G. Soriano
I was hoping there'd be a video with both of these brilliant ballads back to back. I plan to share this in Facebook groups devoted to Harry in 40-year commemoration of the ever-so-tragic day.
I would have hoped he could used a 1080 bit rate.

Wow this blew my mind.purs you right ware you were and are. As well as transporting to that time in the story. It's shame thing are so impersonal now aways. But wow to come full circle with another human being is an extremely rare thing. And the way he tells it us even more so. Magnificent is the any word that comes to mind.
Terrific. Thank you.
Thank you! And you're welcome.
Thanks for this!!
Your welcome. it was my pleasure.
One might cower in fear and shame, another may be moved to conquer an unknown world, the same one stashed his dream for some other day, some other universe, when he was hers
DB-oh so true. Always loved all his music. Kinda went to the 'back burner' 4 a few years!! No one makes music like that anymore. Hope to get a replay on 'my scene' soon!!
Anyone remember seeing him at the Pinecrest Country Club in Shelton Ct back in the 70's? Seen many a great show there
He always reminds me better for see him before it gets to late
Dear Harry, Was Sue the one that got away? Hmmmm.....
think I'll stick with the original...didn't care for the sequel...I loved Harry...grew up listening to him...
You're Very welcome
Good luck with it.
There is somewhere I must go. Someone to see. Just once more.
I heard someone else cover this song. I thought it was theirs.
Why does Harry think Sue was "acting happy"? How would he know?
What songs do Jewel interview
Hahaha!!! Cool ya poor guy got wiped out in a vw😢
Many relationships ended like the first one. There was no need for a sequel.
