As a deaf dude I can assure you that the whole texting thing is easy. I can see text of course but I can't hear what you say to me on the phone so I have a version of TTS (Text To Speech) installed which converts what people say to text in a live environment ( yeah I know it's weird that it's still called TTS as in my case it's the exact opposite but hey tech companies are lazy fuckers & that term's been around a while so they just class it as a sub variant of it). So in Stevie's case texting would be easy as he'd just use the version that converts his own speech to text & reads out any text received.

Haven't you ever seen blind people contour the faces of the people in front of them. He can tell a lot through his touch. Blind people wouldn't say they are disabled, neither would deaf people. It's only people who can see and hear that imagine the hardship that would be.

it's possible. but i also think there is a great misunderstanding in having a physical disability like that, especially sight. they say to paraphrase, when you lose one, all the others become stronger. you notice scent, and sound at a higher level. you have a minds eye along with an imagination. and a sense of self. you may not know what you actually "look like" but you can feel your body, you live within it. so you can extrapolate what other human beings must "look" like. this kind of sht is way deeper than most people with all their facilities can imagine. and even a lot of them with all facilities are literally dotards in comparison, like they can't even navigate all that they have effectively.

Vibrations and air pressure location are whack af. Knew a deaf guy growing up that would go hunting without hearing aids, and his reasoning was that he would have a far easier time picking up the scents of animals, and could differentiate between what type of animal simply based on what he was whiffing. Dude was also able to pinpoint rabbit burrows, even if they were obscured.

Some of the things presented in the video are Very easy to explain (How can you tell someone wearing big dark glasses is looking 'right at' something? You can't. I was the only one brave enough to speak to him and fairly screamed out “hey Stevie, welcome to our movie” because I guess because he was blind he was also deaf. His bodyguards were startled but to their credit they immediately saw I was no threat and Stevie warmly held out his hand and shook mine and we spoke for a moment just small talk as you do. Then they all left. I got the impression he could see perhaps light and dark and maybe big objects etc because he easily navigated the set even with all the cable and light stands and the like. I met Stevie Wonder a few years back when he was being driven around downtown Baltimore city i guess just viewing the city, I later learned he was in town for a show. He was with a young woman who I also later found out was his daughter. He actually pulled over and got out just to take pictures with all of us on the street after an older woman noticed him when he rolled his window down. So I luckily got to meet him. He was incredibly nice, extremely generous with his time, posed for every picture with every person who asked, he was WAY taller than I expected(well over 6ft.) and DEFINITELY blind as a fuckin bat!

I knew a man when I was 13 who was totally blind. He was an auto mechanic, one of the best in the county. The only problem he had was sometimes he drop his tools. If he couldn't find them, he get his son to help him. If he was home from school. If he wasn't his wife helped. And the best small engine repairman in the county, didn't have arms. Some people don't let things hold the back from doing what they want to do.

How can he see timing markers and other visual things that are required to do most jobs as a mechanic? How can he see the level of liquids are at the required level? How can he check for damage that is visual despite it being the majority of things that need checked? Being a mechanic is like 50% visual and checking things by eye. I don't disagree he could replace parts on a vehicle but there is no way in hell he could find the problem to start with unless it was incredibly obvious damage. I am not trying to be nasty but lets be realistic, blind people can do a lot of jobs, car mechanics is not one of them. Things like spotting rust in places you cant reach is essential. A lot of damage is not easily accessible to be felt by hand and requires a torch even for a person with 20/20 vision. You could not even be a good mechanic if the room was too dark let alone being 100% blind.
