    @Y.D.43210 Před 5 měsíci +1

    It was about time you did a video on xDelete :) I do however think you missed the one most important "issue" and risk with xDelete - that's the fact that the rear differential of RWD B58s is different (=designed for higher torque) than the rear differential of xDrive cars!! Especially for a tuned B58, driving and pushing it in 2WD mode puts a LOT of stress on the (weaker) rear differential, which has proven to lead to premature failures! Correct my understanding if I am off, but please do address this in your review, as this to me is a much bigger risk than the increased wear on the transfer case in the unlikely (or should I say stupidity-based... ) scenario with front wheels not turning.

    • @AlexDamian21
      @AlexDamian21 Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@gwspom yeah it's closer to rwd actually. No downsides so far but I will not use it daily because I have very bad tires ( p zero run flat 19 inch ) and I end up doing burnouts almost with dsc off . @stevensink5544 Před 4 měsíci +2

    Mr Kern I think you did a wonderful job with this video explaining the logistics of a tune like this! I also think it’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen! AWD in powerful cars has so much engineering behind it to in any weather any surface conditions always provide outstanding traction! As these cars get more and more powerful these AWD systems can put the power down! Why in any scenario would you want to disable that?? Xdrive works in road course situations in applying power to the correct wheel coming out of corners! It applies all the power to the wheels in a Drag Race situation for max acceleration! Anyone who bought an xdrive car bought it for a reason! Because spinning ain’t winning in any situation! X delete isn’t accomplishing what drivers want! They want their cars to perform like RWD cars but they’re still carrying all the xdrive weight which in my LOGIC if you’re still carrying the weight WHY not utilize it for your advantage!! Or just buy RWD platforms!! Pay extra for Xdrive pay for a tune to turn it off!!! 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

    Among 10 other issues that shouldn't be happening at 50k in a 640i, my transfer case is crapping out. When i emailed to ask what the xDelete timeline was for the G series, their reply email was "released just now." So feeling lucky, i jumped on it. No issues after 5 days. At least i can postpone the $12k transfer case replacement through the dry California summer/fall

    • @blablah538
      @blablah538 Před 4 měsíci

      @@B58_Albo No fault. No codes. Butt dyno detected choppy acceleration from a stop, especially uphill. Then noticed it all the way to highway speeds, though more subtle. Fluid change helped, but a FWD disconnection (and later xDelete to RWD) "solved" it entirely. Now to decide whether to make it BMW's problem (no codes: wink) or bend over and keep an extinct animal alive. One front axle already replaced, second CV boot has failed, driver door soft close took a shit, the rear hatch is manual past 8 inches, the steering column clicks a 11, and there are at least 2 trunk rattles and a back seat chirp. Good thing I'm lugging around 500 lbs of sound deadening lol. The shit we go through to even reach for a BMW touring experience in the US ....

  • @DNLSHPP
    @DNLSHPP Před 4 měsíci

    I believe there´s one misunderstanding. 2WD is opening the clutch in the transfer case completely. also doing burnouts and putting the car on a dyne in this mode should be safe. There won´t be any tear on the clutches. What xAutomotive writes in the support section is, that the cooling oil in the clutch may cause the front wheels to turn. but since there is zero connection between the clutch you would even be able to hold the front wheels with the bare hands.
    Sport 4WD is different. in this mode the clutch does close and it may cause failure when doing burnouts/dyno runs in that mode.
