- Johannesburg is considered the most uranium-contaminated city in the world. Waste dumps from around 600 abandoned mines sit next to residential communities, blowing polluted dust into homes and contaminating the soil and water supplies. To get a sense of the sheer extent of the problem, Martin Boudot and his team of researchers investigate. Equipped with a Geiger counter, they uncover some dangerous realities.
Director: Martin Boudot - Zábava
A French journalist coming all the way to detect and analyse environmental issues, and the department doesn't even bother to attend to it. Cases, petitions signed but all falls on death ears. Some not even aware but most decide to discard it. Disappointed and disgusted with my country 🤮
everything we see is what they want us to see. I remember there was something so big that SABC and ENCA never ever reported on. every time I bring it up my comments get removed automatically
so issues like these will never make it on our media. Issues that affect the youth will never make it. but you will see a Smirnoff and brutal fruit advert 20 times before you go to sleep in the evening if you watch TV. which most south africans do between 5 and 9pm
This is disgusting!! Shame on those companies!!!
This is a great documentary. I hope these people get real justice but i wont hold my breath.
Responsible is corrupt government.
These mines should be held accountable. Thank you!
The ANC doesn't give a damn! Thry are csptured and like all governments they divide and exploit humanity. I send all of you love and healing.
This companies are so irresponsables 🤬😡😡😡😡
They only care about their own interests not the people communities that they do mining in least for the environmental damage
We have A LOT of pollution in our cities. There are a lot of fires too.
Same thing here in Evander mpumalanga😢😢
Great work keep it up please 😊
Would be great if your documentary production company can also do a segment on Haiti next... Particularly regarding the ecological disaster resulting from France demanding timber in compensation for the loss of their colony... Many western colonial industrialists have to answer for the ecological exploitation of the formerly colonized nations.
PURE GREED
bro im watching this video and im not even 1km from the mine dump
move if you can bud
So if you live at the foot of the toxic mine tailings you are sick and if you MOVE AWAY, you DO NOT GET SICK !
staying to fight will not help you get better, leave that place soon before its too late.
It's not by choice they live there.
As you saw these are poverty conditions.
Finding a home somewhere else, let alone a solid house is impossible as homes don't buy themselves.
As mentioned in the video, there are over 250 of these dunes, meaning the wind WILL still blow it into the air for everyone.
The solution is for the mines to better deal with their waste. If authorities push them, believe me, the mines WILL come up with solutions.
Yes no choice bt any1 first priority ts 2 b alive.i guess 4 me i ll rather b alive dan dead having choices
4 me i ll Move a way 4rm da area with my poverty.dan dieyn having no choice
Hello everyone from Thailand.
Hello from Los Angeles, USA.
Typical of South African leaders, always clueless, it had to take a Journalist all the way from France while we have fully qualified personnel in our environmental department, what are the people in that department doing?
This documentary was embarrassing to say the least..
oh wow
nice
Africans need education and democracy
Africa is a continent consisting of many different countries, all of which vary in how democratic they are. South Africa actually has a strong democracy since apartheid ended.
Africa is not a country 😒
Dis verskriklik
Africa is the center of human tragedy in all the world today, as various contemptuous colonial empires of old Europe begin to withdraw and hand over self-rule to the original inhabitants of the various states and tribes of the continent.
It appears it will take thousands of years for the trauma of apartheid racist domination to be undone, and until that happens, if ever, it will be a nightmare-- because the return of power to the subjects of white racist empire will for a long time simply repeat the abuses they endured, since those abuses became the currency of power, and nothing better can easily appear now.
This is the ghastly outcome of imperialist colonial empire everywhere in the world throughout history, and it is completely predictable and completely inevitable.
Lol
Not thousands of years, only a few decades are needed to reverse the effects of apartheid. South Africa hasn't been free for long enough. Just give them 20 years and they'll be an excellent country when people start voting for their interests.
