They gave 3 speeches in this Assembly.
This was filmed before their 3rd time speaking at the UN general assembly. This performance was part of their message to the youth as COVID was winding down
BTS spoke at the UN 3 times. 1st time in 2018 but only RM spoke but it was an excellent speech, the 2nd time was in 2020 but it had to be done remotely because of the pandemic but all 7 members spoke, and then finally in 2021.
They filmed on a Sunday so it was empty, but this was either right before or right after they actually Did give speeches at the UN (for the 3rd time in their careers I might add). This was their last all-English song towards the end of the pandemic, kind of to say we can keep going and sing and dance. There is an official MV for this as well and in it you see the people still with masks on and at the end they are pulling them off.
It was filmed before they gave their speeches.
They actually filmed it in the middle of the night (the part inside the assembly) after 17+ hour flight. A UN staff member tweeted about how hard these guys actually work. Everyone was tired but the boys kept shooting take after take till they were satisfied with every little bit of the performance.
They were there not just to perform, but mainly to give a speech to the UN to represent youth regarding the global sustainability development goals.
You were wondering how they would have access to the UN, here's how: between 2017 & 2021 BTS raised USD$3.6 million from % of LOVE YOURSELF album sales and LOVE MYSELF merchandise for UNICEF's global campaign to end violence against children and young adults. They pledged a further USD$1 million in 2021 from sales and individual members continue to quietly donate to UNICEF. UNICEF has not updated on the campaign since 2021, so its not clear how much this campaign continues to raise through BTS sales, but nevertheless is another example of their genuine engagement with real world issues. This is not a BTS publicity stunt, it is an attempt to draw people's attention to the work of the UN and its agencies, by partnering with a global music icon. Search for "BTS Speech at the United Nations" and watch RM making one of the most inspirational speeches I've heard in recent years. When people who don't know BTS ask me why they are popular, I send them the link to this speech. Watch the version on the official UNICEF channel as it gives the speech in full with no fillers by reporters. It is only 6.5 minutes long and is just great. As a group, they made two further speeches at/for the UN during global lockdowns.
When you remember how you felt during those gloomy pandemic days, you appreciate the breath of fresh air (literally) that this performance at the UN was. It was Sept 2021 and it was the 1st time BTS left Korea since early 2020. I felt like they acted like my travel guide, taking us around the UN building & grounds before finishing up on the banks of the Hudson (I assume?) with the New York City skyline in the background.
BTS always bring a delightful energy to their performances!
They recorded this before they gave the speech.
There is a Bangtan Episode on this it's like a Vlog about their preps for the performance amd and the speech.
There is a video on BangtanTV on the making of this video, how & when they shot the video, etc.
Yes, many artists have been given the chance to speak on various issues at the UN but this is the first time a group of artists was given access/permission to shoot a whole video in the UN General Assembly hall.
They have a Bangtan Episode of them preparing this performance. They did it in a short amount of time after arriving to the US.
Permission to dance was written by Ed Sheeran for BTS. It's one of my least favorite songs musically for BTS, but it has a significance as it was released during the pandemic, and that "bringing people together" feel was really emphasized with the release of the song, and it was really touching to see all the dancers with them during their performances. Their choreography incorporated sign language, so it also got a lot of attention for that as well.
They performed this before their UN speech. BTS invited the young Armys to share with them their thoughts about sustainable development goals for the world which BTS incorporated in their speech. So they became the spoke person for the youth to the UN😊.
The was written by Ed Sheeran, and fun fact "Permission to Dance" is an anagram for "Stories on Pandemic.
Тhe BTS song was filmed at night and in the morning. They gave a speech at the morning meeting after filming. At the UN, BTS was invited to perform twice (not to sing).
The dance contains gestures for the deaf, and it is a dedication to ARMY during the Covid period💜 Video explanation

I don't think dumb is the appropriate term.
Yeaaah.. THEY DONT NEED PERMISSION TO DANCE, even at UN
The architect planned this decades ago, so they designed 7 doors for each member 😂
Their UN Speech from 4yrs ago is what sparked my interest in BTS, they’ve given 2 more UN speeches since then 😌💜. They’ve also been to the White House, met with Biden and spoke to the press. 💜 Check it out?

So proud to be a part of this fandom loving the best entertainers in the world….,ever💜
You praised the complicated choreography, but you completely missed the live, high quality vocals they were nailing through it all
Seven doors, seven members. It was meant to be.
The girl seemed so excited she almost couldnt control herself wow
This was transmitted live from the UN Channel. They started with very serious speeches about youth and the difficulties during the pandemic and how to see the future in a positive way. This was by the end of the pandemic restrictions, but still on place
It was a pre recorded performance which was played after their 3rd speech at UN general assembly
Please react to BTS speech at the UN 2018
The hand gestures in the dance at the end are sign Language
Permission to Dance was written by Ed Sheeran and was given to BTS as a gift. BTS are the only artist ever that was able to perform at UNGA.
The girl in the middle seems really sweet. Hope to see her on more BTS reactions
Yeah she was so hype

Here is the 2018 UN speech they gave... Especially meaningful for young people!
The UN loves the attention that BTS brings to international causes.

전 존나 울컥했는데요ㅠㅠ
They showed the video at the General assembly (I can't remember if it was before or after their speech). If you watch the video of their speech, you see what looks like a little fanboying from some the of UN members when they walk off.
No hablo inglés y uso google de traductor por eso no se si alguien os dijo que en la coreo esta incluida la lengua de signos.
Siempre sorprenden con algo nuevo
Un saludo
💜
The part inside was shot at 1am, the night before their speech.
💜BTS 💜🇨🇱💜🇨🇱💜🇨🇱
💜💜🇲🇽🇲🇽💜💜
I tried to research and see if any band had been perform at the GA Of UN before…
7 doors !
This video was edited and put together within a few hours. Cool, huh? Also James Corden made a joke about them singing at the UN...........he got ROASTED for it. Death treats and so much hate. They did end up going on his show again BUT I think that James relationship with them was ended up a thing of the past. I just watched his last show and he didn't show clips of the times they were on his show. When they were on his show they were some of the highest viewed among his shows.
@@stephaniebryant9055 James Corden is a narcissistic a-hole in general. BTS just came to this realization late
Just happens to have 7 doors...
Thankyouu 🥰💜
No V , No BTS! React Fancam king's Kim Taehyung, please! His choreography is byond idols.
