      If you were Age, could you bring yourself to afflict her? Naw you'd rarely show up to work on those days. "Sorry, can't make Betty White older this year, I've got a cold."
      Actually, at the end, she does a certain distinctive thing with her voice and her smile that give her age away. she briefly turns into Shirley Temple, and you realize oh yeah.. she's.. Shirley Temple's age. actually slightly older. And that is how 30s kids learned to smile and giggle I think.

      I got it today, January 17, 2022, Betty White’s 100th Birthday. I went to her birthday movie at the theatre today, and sure did cry, and laugh, and enjoy every moment. Especially Betty feeding Bruno the Grizzly Bear marshmallows and getting hugs from him, and her singing along with herself, with a little glance up to her beloved Allen Ludden.

    I love Betty and religiously watched Match Game when originally broadcast. What bothers me about Match Game is that this was about the closest America ever came to the British panel show concept, which we abandoned but the British perfected.

    My mom was addicted to this game, would listen to it on the radio while picking us up from school. (NB the local CBS affiliate simulcast on 87.9FM --this was before satellite radio, kids). How old is this particular episode? 1) Watergate was a topical reference, 2) five hundred bucks was a LOT of money, 3) "Penny Lane" was still recent enough that it was not an instant cultural reference, and 4) No Charles Nelson Reilly.

      Match Game started in the 60's, this particular episode was filmed in 1974. Blankety Blank started in the UK in 1979.
