Legends in the Kaiso (Calypso) business!!! Lord Pretender- Alric Farrell (1917-2002) the "King" of Extempo- singing extemporaneously (off the cuff). As the Mighty Sparrow once lamented "He could think fast." The master of Social Commentaries- Dr. Hollis Liverpool (Chalkdust). It was because of Dr. Eric Eustace Williams (1911-1981) that he found his passion (love) for history. Known for songs like "Brain Drain" (1968) "Let The Jackass Sing" (1974)- where he is singing about Dr. Eric Williams himself, "Three Blind Mice" (1976) where he sang about Williams, Kamaluddin Mohammed, Errol Mahabir, Michael Manley etc... "Chauffeur Wanted" (1989 Calypso Monarch) where he "cut up" Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson (ANR Robinson). In recent times he has material like "From Naipaul to Shame" (2002) "Ah Lost Roy" (2002) & "75 cant go into 14" (kind of double entendre- double meaning). David Michael Rudder from Belmont- who is remembered for his music from the brass band Charlies Roots (1986-1990) with Pelham Goddard. Material like "Bahia Girl" (1986 Road March) "The Hammer" (1986)- tribute to panman Rudolph Charles (1938-1985). He too is known for his social commentaries "Haiti" (1988), "Song for A Lonely Soul" (1989) "Ballad of Hulsie X" (1995) "Madman Rant' (1996) even "High Mas" (1998) and his most popular song- at that time "Trini 2 The Bone" (2003) with Carl Jacobs. Long live the Calypso artform & tradition- when these artists pass into the ages this artform (musical expression) is dead....

@@perceyfranklin3598 Calypso/Kaiso originated from the African 🌍 grios (storyteller), who would lament on everything- issues of the day. Aside from this documentary, you should look at Calypso Dreams (2004) which was done in Trinidad 🇹🇹 & a TV programme entitled Calypso Showcase (1992-2000) presented by Alvin Daniell.
