      I can agree with your assessment of smart phones, but I guess you never heard of 'yellow journalism'. Human nature never changes. Give people enough power and money, and they always become corrupt. Being a lover of Star Wars, I'd thought you would understand that.
      As for freedom of speech...that's in the Bill of Rights so speech in public is guaranteed. Speech on privately-owned spaces isn't free, however. You don't get to tell other people how to run their own businesses.

    • @RoaryUK
      @RoaryUK Před 2 lety +11

      They weren't all horrible, some actually made a lot of sense, and it wasn't as if these changes weren't expected. In fact we've known they were coming since 1981 when Star Wars became ANH, with the promise of even more changes when (in Lucas' own words) "technology has a chance to catch up". But perhaps Lucas' biggest mistake was not so much the changes he made, some of which were terrible, but rather his insistence on not allowing the fans to choose the movies they wanted.

      @@RoaryUK Most of his changes were ridiculous and stupid their is no getting around that. But even if that's what he wanted to do it frustrates me to no end why he never made the original versions of these movies widely available to the public. It's like he wanted to erase those memories from everyone cause they interfered with his "vision" or some bs.
      Disney not releasing the originals is even more strange to me. I guess unlike Lucas' pride and ego, Disney simply hate the sheer thought of an unrefined and old theatrical production being next to their name. Everything has to be pristine, clean, glittery and solid. No wiggle room, no "caveman" methods of filmmaking allowed. It's either Blu-ray quality at the very least or nothing. It's amazing to me that the biggest franchise in history still doesn't have its own original versions available to the people who want to see them.

      @@stormcutter59 Not gonna lie, as a Disney Star Wars fan, I wanted to diagree with you about you're "they only want pristine" comment, but then I also realized as a Love Bug fan, you're kinda right. If it's not animation, they don't care about anything older than 15 years. They're so easy to forget anything they ever used to do.
      I do think though that for the 45th anniversary, or 50th more likely, they'll release 4K edits of the original, theatrical versions. But only to kill the advent of the "Despecialized Editions" because they want their money.

      Since VHS is absolutely obsolete by now, I don’t think so unfortunately.
      Heaps of people ask this about the rare VHS release for Revenge of the Sith which was only available in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Japan and marked the final time a Star Wars film had a VHS release. Australia and New Zealand were slow to take up DVD’s and a lot of homes had VHS players and tapes still.
