Earthbag home in Tiruvannamalai

Second part of this home : • #EarthBag Home Reloade...
This 550 Sq Ft (52 Sq M) superadobe home we have done with in one and a half month as an experiment with different methods is located in Tiruvannamalai. We made around 1000 earth bags using soil from the site. To produce 1000 bags it will take less than 15 days with 2 men and 2 women.It will cost less than baked bricks to do this 1.5 feet thick walls. We used different plaster, mortar paste mixes made out of Prickly pear juice, aloe vera, tamarind seed,Haritaki, sticky rice juice, tapioca starch etc and with a touch of tailored coconut leaf roof.

So beautiful. I lived in a village in the early seventies. Kabistalam. I was a Peace Corps volunteer and love that area. I miss India very much I have been back a couple of times to visit my friends and family in the village. I received and learned more than I gave. The most beautiful experience of my entire life.The Indian people there are so ingenious and creative with wonderful ideas. No wasting of the any materials everything seems to be used. I wish, now that I am 70 years old that the Indian government would let me come back to live my final days. I will always have the most fond memories of The Beautiful People the whole area the culture and of course especially the wonderful food. I enjoyed the idlis, dosai, and sambar more than anything.
