When i was a model i was taught thus by a MUA. Most brands have extra inside. When you get close to the applicator pop out what's inside or scoop/scrape out and put with little pallete knife in a little container. Then apply with brush. Or finger 😊 handy for travelling too!❤

I mean, to be fair, anyone who likes a lipstick enough to care about that "extra product" would use it until it was down as far as possible, then use a makeup brush to get the extra. Even without knowing to push it up. I see people do that all the time. Trust me, the product has not been being wasted. 🤣 🤣
Not really -- YSL fills their tubes from the bottom because it's a liquid cream formula that doesn't have the waxy structure needed to solidify quickly, hence the hole and excess product. Other manufacturers use a mold and when the product firms up and solidifies, the lipstick bullet is inserted over the product.
