Wow! These little gems keep popping up. That was marvellous and Ralph Emery, the host died just a few weeks ago. Great to look back on all these interviews and performances, so thank you for digging this one out!
Another informative interview. Always learning more about this talented man. He seemed to have such a friendly personality no matter where he was interviewed and had fun doing them as well. He could do any kind of music. Loved him and miss him still. Del Shannon will always rock on!
It’s funny, I’ve heard Del use his British accent before. It’s almost like he forgets what country he was in during interviews. You can hear him at the beginning when he says December. Del was a great entertainer and a fine man!
I wish he could see that runaway has over 17m views on youtube, even today he still has such a strong fanbase. Maybe if he'd known how popular he still was he might have been with us today.
The sad part is that Del didn’t see a lot of that 6 million records sold cash. Artists were routinely exploited back in the day and the music business is full of snakes. Del was too gentle of a soul for the likes of most of those crooks. R.I.P. Chuck. Thanks for the memories 🎸
Del was a great a singer, way underrated, and I loved him and his music!
