    Celpip reading test is unnecessarily challenging. It is more of an IQ test with riddles than reading. I think celpip should focus more on straightforward reading skills testing rather than guessing games.

    If one of the statement happens in one of the paragraphs, but that statement is incorrect. Should we choose E or the paragraph?

    hey guys!! Help would be appreciated. In reading Part 3- few statements looks like an inferring statements from the paragraph. How do you approach these?

    • @CELPIPOfficial
      @CELPIPOfficial  Před 2 lety

      Hi Jayasri. Reading Part 3 asks you to match nine different statements to a particular paragraph in a four-paragraph passage. If the full idea that is discussed in the statement is located in paragraph B, for example, you would select "B" as your corresponding answer. If the statement is not discussed within the reading passage, you would select E as your corresponding answer. You will not need to infer details to complete Reading Part 3. Instead, identify keywords in the statements, and then look for these words, or for synonyms and paraphrased ideas, within the reading passage. (Your answer is based on locating these ideas within the text, so you will not need to infer anything). - Brandi

    Hi there,
    I have a query regarding grammar usage in the CELPIP writing task if you may help me with it. Could we follow any style guide, such as the Oxford style guide, or is there a Canadian style guide that needs to be followed?

    • @CELPIPOfficial
      @CELPIPOfficial  Před 2 lety +2

      The CELPIP test assesses day-to-day language skills. You must paragraph your writing correctly on the test to maximize your score, but there are no requirements around particular style guides. It is helpful to use Canadian spelling patterns throughout your writing since this is a Canadian test, but provided you are consistent with whichever spelling pattern you choose (e.g., British, American, etc.), it will not impact your score. Your overall writing score will be based on the quality of your content details, the accuracy of your language use, and the completeness of your response. Please review the Performance Standards for assessment in the link below for further details.

    I would like to ask one thing I have purchased a package from the official portal, and before that I was practicing through CZcams videos, at that time I was scoring 9 in both modules, Listening & Reading respectively. Nonetheless, after purchasing a package I started preparing from that package, and my marks got reduced to 6 in both modules, I found that the difficulty level was indeed high. So, in a real exam, the level would be really high as same as the practice tests that are given in the package, or would be easier? Any ideas, please reply. Thanks in advance.

      @CELPIPOfficial  Před 7 měsíci

      Hello. Yes, the practice tests are designed to mimic the actual CELPIP Test. Kindly go through the question-by-question analyses of the Listening and Reading choices available in the package to understand more about what to expect and how to increase your score.

    Could anyone tell me why on the last questions about "if dragonflies inspired new vision technologies"; why we cannot choose option "D" based on an inference question/answer?
    P.S. In my first practice, I had chosen option "E"; however, I was doubtful why "D" wouldn't be a good option?

    • @CELPIPOfficial
      @CELPIPOfficial  Před 2 lety +5

      Hi Alberth. In Reading Part 3, there will be no inference questions; your goal is to match the 9 statements from the right side of the computer screen to one of the paragraphs from the reading passage on the left. (The four paragraphs from the passage are labelled A, B, C, and D). If the entire idea from a statement is discussed in a particular paragraph, you would select the letter of that paragraph as your answer. There will be times, however, that only part of the idea is discussed in the passage, or perhaps the idea is simply not discussed at all. When this occurs, you would select the answer "E- not given in any of the above paragraphs." The example that you are asking about states that "dragonflies' eyes have inspired new vision technology." In paragraph D, dragonflies' vision is discussed, and we read about the number of lenses they have in their eyes to help them detect motion, but we do not read anything about new vision technology. As a result, it would be incorrect to select D as the answer, since the statement is not entirely discussed in this paragraph. E is correct because the idea is not discussed anywhere in the reading passage.

      Hi Dakshita. We recommend the CELPIP Accelerate Reading & Writing online course. You can find it at www.celpip.ca/prepare-for-celpip/study-materials/study-materials-celpip-g/. We also recommend watching the Reading playlist here on CZcams for some really great tips from Brandi.

    You spent lots of time reading to come up with general ideas for the paragraphs and you want us to do so in 10 seconds? I don't think this method would work.

  • @user-wh3oe3ep2h
    @user-wh3oe3ep2h Před rokem

    27:27 difficult to agree...."all" means "must". I think there should not be an inference problem like this because it involves an examiner's own thought and subjective interpretation too much. Please do not exclude or ignore 'several months' in paragraph B.
    This can be A or E because of paragraph B.
    I think Reading (part 3 and 4 are the worst) and Listening should expand a range of full marks due to this problem.
    I can't believe that I should play this unreasonable and absurd game. Ashamed...
