UPDATE: I've had a bit more playing about with the A78's camera and I wish CZcams allowed for image posting, because I think the images are self-explanatory.
However, I will have to stick with words. So, at normal resolution or 1x, ie standard wide angle, the camera is fine, in fact as far as some beach scenes I made go, I'd say bloody brilliant. One hiccup is handling. I more than once accidently tapped night mode or video without realising it when attempting to snap a pic, so I obviously need to pay more attention, or maybe Oppo need to reconfigure their screen for clumsy buggers like me? Ditto for finger over the lens! Gotta watch that! 😂
Colour processing for landscapes is fantastic at late afternoon and direct sunlight. The coolness I mentioned in my earlier comment was almost entirely absent from more recent exposures.
I discovered that the lens can be taken to 10x by nifty finger scrolling. YES! Except... NO.
At 2x the zoom is just... okay. There's a little blurring but not too bothersome. Shifting up to 5x and things become noticeably noisier. Beyond that, it's a case of "How do you like your worms?" At 10x, the colour processing remains okay but everything else is an utter mess. Obviously there's no optical zoom lens involved here, it's simple magnification of the image. And it sucks!
The question becomes: if the camera components can't handle zooming, why even bother including the function in the first place? The only possible reason I can think of to have it is if I wanted to create a special effect.
So, unless there's a camera trick I haven't discovered, the A78's zoom function is an utter fail.

My son just bought this it’s an awesome phone. Does everything my 1000 k phone does and some things better. His last oppo has lasted 4 years flawlessly

Paid 259.$.. & The front camera is at the left IN the screen....not a drop in the middle...😮....
All I wanted was an affordable, basic phone. I've only had my one for a couple of weeks and am still getting used to it, but it seems to be fine for what I need (what I don't need is games, movies. streaming, internet etc, so "basic" with a cap. B!) Haven't tried video, but general photos seem adequate. Portraits are nice, though the colour is on the cool side. Actually colour for every mode seems to be cool; I'm not sure if that's adjustable in-device or not. I add warmth in simple photo editing in my laptop and that solves the issue. I was told it didn't come with a charger, but it did! For phone aficionados, this gadget won't make the grade, on any level, but for someone like me, it's fine and will hopefully go the distance.

You can expand 4gb Ram to upto 8 GB ram. Go into settings and up the top type Ram expansion. Look for RAM expansion 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Does this have the thing where the 4gb memory can use 2 GB of the storage to make an effect 6gb?

I have the same phone. I can confirm it does have expandable RAM functionality. You can expand it over to 8 GB RAM which is what I have done. So it comes with 4gb RAM+ 4 GB RAM expandable. Hope it makes sense
4gig ram. If you go to about phone you can dedicate some of the rim to the ram up to 12gig.❤
I'm confused why NZ and Australia has 4GB when online I've seen 8GBs which you can dedicate it up to 16
