This is so confused. The dude teaching has no idea what he’s saying. I imagine it could sound attractive if you don’t actually read the Bible. I’ve wonder who UPPER ROOM are but now it’s pretty clear. Zeal without knowledge.

I was a little thrown off by the "resting his head in our mess" thing too, but I can't think of any Scripture that contradicts it. In fact, John 13:23, John 14:2, 1 Corinthians 6:19, and Revelation 3:20, come to mind. Also 1 Thess 5:20-21 for you, friend.

P.S. Been thinking about this more over the past hour: the point of the Sabbath day--the day of rest--is restorative communion with our Creator. When the Lord enters and takes possession of something, that thing becomes clean, by definition. There may still be things to put in order and/or beautify, and there's dirt that may be tracked in that will need to be swept out (all aspects of sanctification), but the Lord is not afraid of any of those things. And He's patient, and He's wise: wise enough to lower Himself to eye-level, so that we would become Marys, not Marthas.
His humility didn't make sense 2000+ years ago when He stooped to wash his disciples' feet; and it often doesn't initially make sense to us today; but praise the Lord that He's after our hearts, not our perfection. Praise Him that He is not ashamed to call us brothers and sisters, or even to make our earthly bodies His royal residence (John 14:23)

Alyssa Pirocchi Please examine what Michael Miller is saying (13:12-17:24). I have attempted to transcribe it so that you can reflect on it without the mood of the music or other atmosphere. Do you see any internal inconsistencies? Does it actually agree with the Bible?
      Transcript of inspirational sound bite.
      Start: 13:12
You know, in Matthew 8 there’s this passage where these people come to Jesus. And they tell Jesus I want to follow you. And Jesus responds and he says, “The birds of the air have nests and the foxes have dens but the Son of Man doesn’t have a place to lay His head.” No place to lay His head. We’re singing about Him coming and finding a resting place and making a dwelling place here. And I saw this picture of Jesus and He took His head and began to lay His head here, at the UPPERROOM. He was laying it here, like [hand over speaker’s heart.]
I think like when John laid his head on Jesus’ chest, but I saw Jesus laying His head here saying, “I found a resting place for my head.” But I started getting overwhelmed and I was like, “Wait, lord! Wait a minute. Like, I’m messy! I want to clean myself up a little bit and then you can come and rest. Like I’m messy, lord.”
And I heard the lord say, “There was no place for me in the inn. There was no place, like, there was no room for me in the place that was tidy and kept, swept together. There was no room for me in the inn.” But where he was laid was in the manger. He was laid in the manger.
And I heard Jesus say, “I want to...I’ll rest my head in your mess if you’ll let me. I’ll rest my head in your mess if you’ll let me. If you just let me.”
I hear the lord. He’s declaring it tonight, “I’ll rest my head in your mess if you’ll let me.”
And we’re singing this and it’s not about sweeping ourself together and like getting the room tidy and neat for the lord to come. Like if you give him your mess, watch what he’ll do if he rests in your mess. Truly if you make yourself a resting place for him, “Come on, lord! Come on.” Then you’ll find out that we’re not really singing this to him - he’s singing it to us. He’s saying, “Come on! I’ve made a resting place for you. I made a place for you. Come on! Come on!”
But we get so bent out of shape about...”it’s not this” or “I had this argument and this conversation...”
And I hear the lord saying, “I’ll rest in your mess if you let me. If you let me.”
So, can we all get on our knees? If that’s you, if you relate to that and like, man, I see this picture of us coming to this place of rest. Of, like, really sobering our hearts and saying, “Lord, come. Come. Come.” Because we’ll never find...he’ll never force himself to rest on you.
PRAYER: So, Jesus, lord, come on! Come on, lord! Come on! Lord, I just declare over anyone in the room that’s wrestling with their mess that the words that I hear you saying that you’ll rest in their mess if they’ll let you. If they’ll let you. If we’ll let you, Jesus! If we’ll just give our hearts over to you. Like fully, not the front part of our heart that looks so good but the backside that we like to hide and we like to keep secret. Lord, come on! Come have it all!
Come on Jesus! Brick by brick and praise but praise, come on!
      End 17:24

I hear you and love your heart for truth, and the diligent way you evaluate potential prophetic statements. Whether this particular statement was directly, verbatim from the Lord, is not a hill I would necessarily die on, as it's not quite as testable as some of the others I've heard. The only thing I'm sure of, is that we shouldn't despise it offhand; and also that a fairly solid scriptural case can be made to support it.
I think where I initially got thrown off, and where I imagine you possibly were too, is in the "1. Jesus doesn't lazily rest while there's work to be done. He cleanses us. And 2. He himself said "the Son of man has nowhere to lay His head." So regarding #1, That Mary-ish intimacy of quietness and rest, is one way He meets us and begins a work of healing and cleansing that we don't initially see. In that way, resting (believing on, fellowshipping with, not striving to impress) the Lord Jesus is doing "the work of God;" and when we do that, he doesn't ignore us because he's busy Martha-ing. He communes with us. And re #2, in that passage, I think Christ was saying, "I'm homeless in this world--I don't belong here--and if you follow me, you will be too." *But* if Christ is our life and home, and he makes His home in us, we are both "sojourners" and at home with Him (though of course, the best is yet to come there).
That said, please let me know if you discerned anything I missed. Thanks again for your heart.
