What I like most about the sneaker world is that there is always room for creativity and innovation with new shapes and materials. I definitely see the whole influencer frenzy/virality as a secondary effect, even though for MSCHF that may be their key focus. What annoys me more than the fake social media marketing is the "offended" "How could you possibly wear that?!" snarky comments of people who see neither the art of the design nor the quirkiness of wearing something like that. I personally think they look really awesome, I love clothes/fashion that just does whatever it wants, regardless of what the general public might think. However, knowing that these are made by MSCHF, and that they were made with the explicit purpose of garnering hype and attention, they loose some of their value for me. If they were coming from a small brand, who's entire range was based on these wacky, out-there ideas it would be so dope. These boots aren't made by people passionate about fashion, and it's not like this is their big break and we can look forward to new collections filled with fun and experimental fashion. I wouldn't wear them cause its not my style. however, in my opinion the modern world has, in most design aspects, just gotten really... boring. Everything plain, whites and greys, even architecture or logos for example have gotten dulled down. Most things look borderline dystopian by design. If we had more crazy experimental things like this the world would be a more fun place.
And really it only looks weird because it isn't popular. I mean look back at the 90s when jeanco jeans were popular. They're pretty similar in their exaggerated over the top design. But people liked them! They were fun. I want more clothes that aren't afraid to be weird. If designs are too scared of being weird to be unique, they're doomed to be boring and unoriginal.

Isn't that sometimes fancy 'edgy' techwear stuff? Like jackets with 70 functions, cool design, etc? Simply because of what fancy stuff like acronym can do it lends itself to being shown off right?

The abbreviation of the Big Red Boots, BRB (Be Right Back), is something that is generally used on the internet to describe you getting off of the internet and coming back a while later (thanks Mr. Holmes). The Big Red Boots themselves are something that you will log off the internet to wear, only to post you wearing them on the internet without actually wearing them for a _long_ time outside, thus completing the cycle of "be right back". This adds layers to the possible satire and it's funny. I assume it was done on purpose.

I first saw these boots on insta with that dude doing what looks like to a tre-flip, no idea the boots were a thing. and as I'm watching the insta short, I'm thinking about how, wouldn't it be funny to film myself in slow motion, in army fatigues, special Fx bullets zipping past, explosions all around me, climbing out of a trench, assault rifle in hand screaming my death cry, while wearing a pair of MSCHF's Big Red Boots...
