As a South African I have loved watching your videos of SA. I have been in Cape Town for about 3 years now, lived in Joburg for about 10 years before that., so it's been really nice so see a foreigner's perspective on those 2 cities. I actually just wanted to thank you, because honestly your optimism about of SA is refreshing. I'm sure you might have similar experiences with America but when you've spent your entire life in a place you are all too aware of the dark underbelly of that place. It's nice to be reminded every so often of the goodness of my country, and of Cape Town in particular.

Bunny chow is from where I am from DURBAN. Its a traditional meal made famous by the Indian migrants who were brought to work in the suger cane plantations by the British in the early 1800's. India as well as SA was a colony of the british. The Malay people are tradionaly from CT so the currys etc are different than from Durban.

Joe-cq It is really sad to see that after nearly 30 years of "democracy", the majority black population is still confined to the "townships" the Afrikaners built to keep them, and most of them are not even trying to get out. It is like Rosa Park enjoying riding in the back of the bus. In the meantime, the nice cities the white folks built for themselves are decaying at rapid rate ever since the whites left them to build their own bunker neighborhoods. They are the only ones that can afford to fly in or out of the country. If you do not believe me, just go to any airport in SA.

From what I've seen/heard, it seems like they love Cape Town's beauty, but prefer staying in Johannesburg because:
      - Joburgers are fast moving go-getters. We Capetonians like to chill. It seems many of these African Americans are here to hustle and make money. Joburg is the place to be for that mindset.
      - Property is apparently much more expensive in Cape Town.
      - They feel more comfortable with the demographics in Joburg and Durban. I've often heard Cape Town described as "cliquey" and more racist compared to Joburg. I've lived in Cape Town all my life, so maybe I'm blind to it, but that's what I've heard.
So ja, it seems like they treat Cape Town more as a holiday destination.

Black Americans who are in SA on a tourist visa are vacationing.

The Western Cape with its beauty is breathtaking with its vineyards, views and historic buildings etc. I hope you will visit SA again in the future. There is so much more to explore. Don't miss my hometown, Port Elizabeth, which has been renamed Gquebera ( not a popular name with the people living here. We were not consulted by the government so that we could choose a new name ourselves) The Metropol of our city has been called Nelson Mandela Bay for years, so the name ought to have been Mandela Bay.
