Raag Bahar is a very popular springtime raag. During the spring, it may be sung at any time of the day. There are a number of film songs which use this rag; "Chham Chham Nachat Ayi Bahar" and "Sakal Bana Gagan Chalat Puravai" are two examples.

The use of MPDNS'' in 'Phool rahi sarson' (in simple Bahar) around 8:00 is interesting. One hears this otherwise not-so-commonly-associated-with-Bahar phrase also in the ashtapadi 'Priye charushile' that Pt Ulhas Kashalkar and others sing. (Also, it is interesting to hear this version of 'Phool rahi sarson' with 'Aashiqrang' in the antara; the version I had learnt featured Niyamat Khan aka 'Sadarang' in the antara!)
