If "attributes disk" command in cmd DiskPart is showing Current read-only state as "Yes" but Read-only as "No" then it's over, you can't remove write protection. Buy a new card.

i watched many tutorials and it didnt work. the only thing i did different here was, when running command prompt to add "attributes" to "clear disk readonly". thanks alot!! nice calm voice and good tutorial quality btw.

Much appreciated, altering the registry and a reboot was the only thing that worked for me.

Option 2 command prompt to add "attributes" to "clear disk readonly, solved the problem, and although i knew locking/unlocking slider, people also have to know, sometimes the slider seems to work, but inside may be faulty due to wear and tare, or damaged without showing on outside, try another SD Adapter.
Most appreciated, Now 3 Cards are now working again thanks to your clean teachings, You the Guy..
All my life I fought when you put it down it literally just wouldn’t fit into the SD card reader so when I looked at it when I saw that and it fit I didn’t think that was a problem then when I switched it, it worked just fine. thank you very much for the advice.

I tried resetting my 3ds with an SD card that wouldn't format. I had two. After long processes like this and no luck I was surprised when it formatted when resetting the device with the card in it. Try it on another device. You might have some luck

Use rufus and burn a random iso to the sd card that will force to wipe the drive and bypass it then you should be able to format it after and will be like new
@@itsreece22 tried that and it gives me an error saying it couldn't be done due to an I/O error with the device

I bought three mini SD cards, they were `write protected` How I wept?! These measures ^ looked difficult to me, but i prepared to have a go.
Before doing so, I put one in the slot, and it formatted itself. I was jubilant from then on.

I formatted the SD card using my phone. It's quick and easy. It works nicely. You can insert it directly to your phone or USE OTG adapter or format it with your camera.
After the second step, we have to reinsert the memory card. It worked for me. Thanks man.

A week ago I picked a portable hdd from trash and it showed write protect.
Tried all the above method but failed.
On diskpart, the hdd was not even showed up on list disk.
It displayed on "my computer and disk management" but unable to access it.
Then I tried list volume, it showed up.
After removing the readonly, it worked normally.

So if these methods don't work, what should one do? I have a good quality card that was not used for long but it's full of video files and I can't delete them, format the disk. What is keeping this from formatting. Should we try from another computer or Operating System such as Linux?
