Hi Gina, been following you since I am saving up for my dream piccolo. It has been a real education since 1980s when I played in high school and college. I have a Yamaha 3O which was a gift, and the sound is quiet piercing. This is a beautiful sounding piccolo so I totally get why it's your dream piccolo. You have totally inspired me to start practicing again. I have arthritis and have heard about vertical flute head joints. Perhaps you could do a review on them. I can not longer finger a flute and this may help. Although, I am a piccoloist at heart. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing your story with me Darcy! Yeah, there's definitely nothing worse than playing on a shrill piccolo (which I have definitely done in the past!). I hope that you find a piccolo that you love. I'm so sorry to hear about your arthritis. I have heard that the verticle headjoints are really helpful. I'll have to see if FCNY has one to try for you!
I'm buying a second-hand Miguel Arista head joint with my new Flute.

Did you not want the multi-trill option? I've seen it on their website, but haven't seen one in the wild quite yet.
What I heard is it's not really made with that option anymore :( otherwise I would have definitely chosen one with that option!
Tiene un timbre genial. Lástima que comprar una piccolo de ese tipo excede con creces mi presupuesto (con suerte dispongo de unos $80 mil en pesos chilenos al mes).
Sería mucho más fácil (dentro de lo difícil que es) que un piccolista me obsequie su piccolo (pensando en que adquirió otro que se ajusta más a la interpretación que quiere), aunque en Chile no hay tantos piccolistas, y menos que tengan alguna piccolo que no usen.

Betsy Ross No she’s originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. She moved to LA to become a session musician and she studied with Jim Walker (first at Colburn where she did her undergrad and then at USC where she did her masters)
