Custom Marin Trials Bike Build - The Inverness

- Since signing with @marinbikesofficial back at the start of 2021, we have been working on this project.
I would never in a million years expect to get the opportunity to get my very own Custom Trials Bike from such an iconic MTB brand so needless to say I am absolutely delighted to get the chance to work with the awesome crew at Marin on this,.
I am so stoked on how it has all came out and although I know the paint job might not be for everyone I think it looks sweet.
Big thanks to everyone involved for making this a reality. Cannot wait to get out on this thing and see how she holds up on the streets.

Stoked on this, the crew on the trials discord were wishing so hard this wasn't an April fools joke when the first shot was posted and Marin delivered! Excellent bike Duncan, I think everyone is excited to see what you will do with it!
Such a nice build ! The Hydra Hub seems perfect for trials. Normally I love steel frames the most, but this one looks sick. Better than those oversized carbon tubes nowadays. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Little assembly tip for the Sram cranks is to put loctite 609, bearing retaining compound on the spider bolts and the interface between the crank arm and spider. Keeps things stuck together and avoids the dreaded mystery creak!

I used to use a red grease for my bikes way back in the 90's, can't recall the brand or name. Way back when my little work shop constantly smelt of GT85 lol 😆

Looks awesome! Interesting to see the little details where trials bikes differ from mountain bikes (cable routing, threaded bottom bracket, derailleur/chain tensioner thing, foam insert in the back tire, etc).
What's the difference on the bottom bracket? Didn't see any to my MTBs with treaded bottom bracket. And you can ride with tire inserts on a regular MTB too, just most people won't cause it's hard to get them in and they're heavy. And I even know some people having the front brake cable routed this way on a Enduro, just the ahead cap looked a little bit different than those I know. But yes the derailleur mount looked really interesting
Chain tensioner is needed as there is no adjustment for the axle (fixed position)
Cool bike! But why are the spokes silver at the front and black at the back?
I may be wrong, but it looks like the spokes on the rear are double butted and the spokes on the front are plain gauge.
Awesome work Duncan, I’m looking at getting a new bike for trails and DJ. I can’t find the perfect blend so would you put preference into geometry (BB & Chainstay) or weight?

After cutting the brake cables, you only opened the lever bleed port (with a few brake taps)?

Man I cant stand that muc off lube, went back to hpg.
The stuff started giving off a putrid smell. And it didnt work very well for me.
