Yamaha YBL-835D Unboxing Video

When Yamaha's new YBL-835 bass trombones were announced at NAMM 2023 we were understandably excited; while Yamaha trombones have been a staple for many years it has been a while since we have seen new designs from them. While their introduction certainly indicated that they were approaching their new bass with modern conception (offering bell material and cut bell options), how all of their external and internal tweaks would actually affect the trombone was hard to evaluate until we had the trombone in hand.
After unboxing our first 835D we were very impressed; due to a number of airflow changes in the bell section it had a very different blow, stability, connectivity and presence then it's predecessors, as well as offering a full, resonant and open sound with a combination of stability and color! We enjoyed our first experience but let us know what you think!

I bought my first bass in 1993, a Bach 50GO which was the model number at the time. Gold brass, indie, open wrap. I hated it, but folks said at the time "If you want to be a pro, you have to play Bach. Well, I fought tooth and nail with that horn until I retried from my day job and as a present to myself, I got the maker I'd wanted way back then: a Yamaha Xeno 822g and haven't looked back. Night and day difference. The local trombone professor bought my old Bach for his studio - he loved it. Good on him. I love my 822g.

Mouthpiece is pretty close to a Douglas Yeo mouthpiece ,very deep cup I think 🤔

Does Yamaha make any basses with G-D valves any more? I have a 613 Which I am considering replacing for several reasons but I do not wish to relearn how to play the second valve!

Does the Lake City 412 gen 2 come with a case and mouthpiece?
