That look of disdain at the beginning of the video is GOLD!!! I'm not a fan of cart razors but I LOVE your reviews...keep up the exemplary work, bruh!!!
Hey, not sure if u still read comments but I wanna say you helped me out shaving my mustache. I've always nicked myself growing up so I ended up just switching to those pencil electric trimmers. Recently getting back into shaving and have a pack of Bic single blade disposables lying around and ended up with a total of 5 nicks above my lip. I didn't wanna make that mistake again so I looked up a video on how to use them and ur video was the first to come up. Great commentary btw, and after following what your saying about being whisper light and just letting technique work it, I shaved smooth with no nicks! Thanks a lot sir. I was never taught how to do shave and I'm 22 now and my mustache is growing fast everytime after a trim. so this is a lot more valuable to me than most would think. Such a little thing making a big impact.
Thank you for another great shave. What I really like about your videos is that you keep it simple. I use canned shaving foam myself, I know the shave snobs will turn up there nose at it. But I can't afford some of these 20 and 30 dollar soaps. Remember old school wet shaving was DE razor or a Schick injector, or maybe a Gillette Trac 2 with a can of Barbasol. I promise you my Daddy would never pay 30 bucks for a lather bowl. It was the Schick injector and barbersol or Gillette shave foam. Thank you for the great video and God bless you and your family.
The problem with DE shaving is the upfront costs. Although soaps vary in costs, they may seem expensive but an average soap will last roughly six months if you're shaving daily. From personal experience a can lasts about a month to six weeks shaving daily. On that basis the soap although upfront is more costly, over the course of six months it probably is cheaper compared to the costs of several cans. With this comment I'm not being a snob or trying to persuade anybody to change their mind. I certainly do agree that Tony keeps things simple and appeals to the everyday man and is a breath of fresh air within the wetshaving community.
@@acfnugget7880 you can DE wet shave with whatever soap or canned foam you want....there are no "rules"...a tub of Proraso soap in the green tub will set you back maybe $8 and will last you a year
Never would I pay that much for a soap. Been DE shaving for years and always use either Arko, Proraso, Vitos 1kg brick and since recently Nivea canned or cream. Affordable stuff works just as well imho.
This one makes me wonder, should I try Bic Metal razor again. I tried an old, old copy that I kept for maybe 20 years. I tried it again maybe a couple years ago when I was just learning to use a brush and soap. This razor seemed to give good results, and I do not remember any irritation, but I believe I only understood the one-pass shave idea. These Bic Metal are easier to clean than other disposables and cartridges. I should try one of these again.
Another great video! I tried these blades in the 90s, and had the similar experience. I tried the new BIC Made for You Razor. Five-blades are at least two too many for me. But I was impressed by the razor and blade. I understand BIC is developing an expensive cart razor that uses artificial intelligence to face map. BIC is Europe is valued more than US. Even had its own shave club. I'm interested in seeing how serious BIC is about challenging the big boys.
Even with having a few facial hair all I felt was multibladed become stuck with hair bits between them. But, Single blade razors will not, But they get less sharp after 3 shaves. Had the best feeling when the barber used the straight razor.
Have caught your videos before, first time commenting. Really enjoyable video. I really like this razor for what it is, but I can understand it’s very low budget, no frills, and theres alot of better stuff out there. Enjoyable to see you review these old school disposables.
Oh man! I’m glad you had a better shave than I did unscathed with the Metal. I had several nicks when I used it. But my face and head does not get along real well with Bic products.
The bic metal razor works real good . I really like them . Its quick smooth and fast. You just have to glide the razor like conductor controling a orchestra ..
i tried that, its like you did throwaway 1 shave only per razor no more...the other orange can do up to 15 shaves so.... the orange 1 blade by BIC is better imo, stay safe, cheers...Peter
Couple of observations here. I found Bic metal to be an extremely mild shaver. Similar to a DE. I think your problem with irritation came from doing a 2nd pass against the grain. Especially since you mentioned you shaved the day before. Not to familiar with the foam you used but barbasol is # 1 as far as cushion goes. There wasn't a need to go against the grain for a 2nd pass. I do 2 passes with the grain. A man's face isn't supposed to be soft as a babies butt. Never understood the need for that
I use the one with single blade and yellow handle / white head . For when I have gone days without using my gillette excel razor . As whiskers can be rinsed out easily .
Sorry to see they don't seem to work for you. But I get excellent shaves with it every time. It's a lot sharper than the yellow BIC and lots of people like the BIC METAL. But ymmv and what works for me doesn't mean it has to work for thee.
Hey, man. Cool video. If you are trying disposable razors I've been curious for a while about the BIC flex 3 i think it would be fun to compare the low end BIC to the "high end" BIC
@@averageguytested never heard of that one maybe we don't have that one here in Brazil. I'm a DE guy but I flirt with cartridges and disposables from time to time. It seems like it will be fun. Cheers man 👍🏻

Oof. Tough shave. I’ve never had any luck with Bic products. Good on you for trying it. Sorry you had a rough one. Let’s get back on track with Gillette! Day 3!
If you ask me Bic razors are not even in the same sentence as Gillette and Schick but rather a bottom feeder razor like Dorco. You're more brave to shave with it than I am. Glad you didn't get a nick or a weeper.
Actually the Dorco Pace 6 and the Bic Hybrid 5 are great razors , better - much better than the Hydro. The Fusion proglide powerball is still my choice. It is a great one !!
Bic invented the cart razor, if that means anything. All designs to follow were in direct competition to these guys and the sensitive single blades which were released at the same time. In a way, these are part of history following the industrial revolution, much like the Bic Cristal ballpoint pen. I won’t say they’re great or anything, but their history is interesting.
For the price you pay for Bic it's not a bad deal. Schick & Gillette is between double & five times the price of Bic. For cost effectiveness Bic is the best
Cringe, they barely make a good pen let alone a razor. If I had a nickel for every pen that was bic ball point that didn't want to work after years of storage I would have at least 2 bucks back.
Idk, I love Bic ballpoints. You can leave them uncapped for years and they’ll still write consistently in my experience. Bic invented the ballpoint and they also invented the disposable razor. Won’t say these are great or anything but its gonna vary between two people. I’ve met people who say they get a great shave with these, and people who just nick their faces up trying to shave with these. It’s awesome if they work for you tbh, because these are dirt cheap! Personally I dry shave with a Philips Oneblade, my grandfather though used nothing but these.
