  • If you get a new keyless entry remote (key fob) or change the battery in your remote you may need to reprogram your vehicle to accept the remote. This procedure works for a lot of 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, and some 2008, and 2009 GM (Chevtolet and GMC) vehicles. See below for vehicles that the procedure should work on.

For anyone who's having problems, 3 things. Make sure to let go off the unlock on the door quickly after switching the key to off the 2nd time, make sure to hold the remote up over the steering wheel for the signal to work. Make sure to press the lock button on the fob a milisecond or two before pressing down the unlock button and holding them both down....
And of course make sure the fobs have working batteries.. which can be tricky because these fobs have no light indicators. If it's not working try replacing the 3v battery with a new, fresh one. They're cheap.

After turning the ignition key on and off twice, while holding done the unlock button on the door panel, the door locks cycle, then the horn beeps. Then I hold both buttons on the fob. I've waited close to a minute and nothing happens. I tried this with two other fobs and nothing happens. I cycle the ignition on and off to en the program cycle. Any ideas what's wrong?
