  • In this video i visit the Palace of Ooni of Ife. The Yoruba consider Ile Ife to be both the birthplace of their civilisation and the spot where the gods first came to earth. Ile Ife literally translates as "place of dispersion." The Yoruba people believe that when the gods Oduduwa and Obatala created the universe, they also founded Ife. We all Meet Ooni Of Ife 1st Daughter recently and she was so pretty.

I've always had this issue about what and why people celebrate certain people and things. Moremi is one of them. And as excise people will say domt judge the last by modern standards. No. Im judging the last, present and future by AFRIKAN standards. These standards are ancient.
That being said, i know it was supposed to be considered a noble act, but how do we celebrate a woman who sacrificed her son? Also, where was her husband in this? What type of husband allows his wife to be captured, marry another man to het secrets, and accepts her back in his house as his wife? There are men here in the united states who allow their girlfriends to sell their bodies for money with full knowledge of it. This story of Moremi bears great similarity to that. Moremi was pimped out. Plain and simple. It's time we have a new paradigm as Afrikan people. It's time we Afrikans reassess our last and what we praise.

Are you saying we should not celebrate Jesus for sacrificing his life for us? His life is precious too. I think you you do something bad for good reasons. You deceive to be celebrated. Personal opinion tho but we can discuss this if you have the time. Like you said don’t judge the past with the present. Women then are submissive in nature and for her to make that though decision for the people of ife is worth celebrating.
