I was about to send an optical to RCA converter back to the seller because it did not seem to work. I would never have found the PCM setting without your video. You are my hero.
so glad the vid helped ya! these tech things can be super confusing sometimes. happy it's all working now!
Can the tv speakers work at the same time with the optical output?
My optical output was working for months, after moving my TV and hooking it up to an older surround sound system. The PCM setting fixed this today! I don’t know what happened between last week, when I last watched this TV, and today…but…Thanks a million for making this video! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Glad to hear the video helped ya! Sometimes moving the TV can jumble up settings, but awesome that the PCM trick worked out.
How is it that in the first 45 seconds of your video you managed to answer a question that the freakin' owner's manual failed to address. Epic fail on Samsung's part, you for the win!
Thanks a ton! Glad I could help where the manual didn't. It's kinda crazy how these things aren't always clear in the manuals, right? Stay tuned for more tips and tricks.
Disagree. First 33 seconds. Literally changed to PCM. Worked perfectly. Fantastic
Same on my LG C3 OLED 🎉
Oh my goodness you fixed it for me after trying to figure it out for an hour Thank you!!
Glad I could help!
Thank you.. This is the only video that helps me💛💛💛💛
Thank you thank you thank you. I've been using a sound bar for a couple years, the power went out a couple weeks ago and the sound bar hasn't worked since. I just changed the PCM setting and that fixed it.
Thank you.
Glad it helped
Thank you so much! This fixed it immediately😊
Glad it helped!
I too was convinced my equipment was at fault, either the optical cable or the analog converter, but the problem was simply the PCM setting! Thanks again!
Thanks for the info!
Yeah dude thanks, the first advice solved the problem.
Thanks ❤
Glad I could help
Great video. On my Samsung q900 and now it works on my TV stuff! Thanks! 👍

Thank you so much for this guide! I’ve been trying to connect a Bluetooth headphone to my TV through a Bluetooth receiver for hours.
Glad I could help!
Thanks man! Immediately fixed the issue.

Ty
thank you for sharing
My pleasure
Thank you so much. I didn’t even have to listen to the whole video to fix this when it got to the optical part and you go into settings. It was right there. I just switched it over to Tv speaker and it started working just fine.
Oh, that's awesome to hear! 😄 Glad the video helped you out even before finishing it. Those settings can be tricky sometimes, right? Enjoy the sound now that it's all set up.
Do you know why the PCM setting would change on its own? All of a sudden we had no sound, then finding this setting fixed it! Thank you!
Oh, that's a bit of a mystery, isn't it? Sometimes updates or glitches can mess with the settings, kinda like gremlins in the machine, haha. Glad you got your sound back though! Keep an eye on those settings, they like to take a walk sometimes.
Thank you. PCM for the win.
PCM's the way to go, right? Glad it helped ya out! Cheers! 🎉👍
Thank youu!
You're welcome!
Pcm fixed it thanks a lot
Glad to hear PCM sorted it out for you! Thanks for dropping by to let us know. Enjoy the sound on your Samsung TV! 🎉📺
Awesome 😎
Thanks 🤗
Let me add that I've seen optical port failures in some older Samsung TVs. With the TV powered on and without *looking directly* into the SPDIF port on the TV, see if there's a "Red" laser glow from the port. If no red glow, unplug the TV for 20 seconds and re-plug the TV in. Try this step before doing a Factory Reset.
good point about the optical port issue. Checking for the red light's a smart move. If it's not glowing, unplugging and replugging the TV sounds like a solid first step. Definitely worth trying before jumping into a factory reset. Thanks for sharing that tip!
Thank you! But why does it not work on Auto mode? What is Auto mode if not PCM?
Hey, good question! So, Auto mode and PCM are actually different things. In Auto mode, your TV tries to pass the audio in its original format, like Dolby Digital from Netflix. But if the TV or sound system can't handle that format through optical, it might not work.
PCM, on the other hand, changes everything to a basic stereo format, which is why it works with most stuff. It's like a 'one size fits all' solution, but you lose the fancy surround sound
Another question - I opted for optical output to be on always. It works with TV as intended but with HDMI eARC connected Sony Blu-Ray BDV-E690, it gives simultaneous output only for CZcams app (LPCM - Dolby Pro Logic) but not for apps like Netflix and Prime where the output is already in 5.1 / Dolby Digital. Of course, this happens only in Auto mode. In PCM, mode, optical gives simultaneous output for all apps. The problem is the moment I switch from Auto to PCM, I lose the 5.1 channels and it's back to stereo with Pro Logic or DTS Neo. I don't understand why Optical dies on Auto / 5.1 mode?
When you set your Samsung TV to optical output on 'Auto', it tries to match the audio format it receives. So, for apps like Netflix and Prime, which use 5.1/Dolby Digital, the TV might not output through optical if it can't process these formats. But CZcams, mostly using stereo (LPCM - Dolby Pro Logic), works fine.
Switching to PCM mode makes your TV convert all audio to stereo, which is why optical output works for all apps. But yeah, you lose out on the 5.1 surround sound, getting only stereo.
It's kinda weird that optical doesn't work in Auto when playing 5.1 audio. Maybe your TV or sound system has limitations with certain audio formats over optical? Might be worth checking the specs or getting in touch with Samsung or Sony support for more help.
HI, I NEED HELP!
TV Has Optical out and does shine a red light from the end but still no audio, the home entertainment system and speakers are hooked up correctly and tested on Bluetooth, radio, and USB all work and output audio. TV sound is set to Audio Out/Optical and formated for PCM. NO audio is coming out of the system at any volume but as soon as I change the TV to speakers it works, or if I connect the system to another setup it works. Optical cable is new out of the box. TV is a Samsung UN65NU7200F. Home system is a Rockville HTS56 5.1. Tested on a Roku TV and still no audio from the optical even though the light is visible out the end of the cord and with proper settings. NEED HELP!
Hey! Sounds like you’ve tried a bunch of stuff already, good job on that troubleshooting! Since the optical cable is new and works on another setup, it’s probably fine. It might be the TV’s optical out port that’s having issues. Have you tried a different optical cable just to double check? Also, resetting the TV to factory settings might help if it's a settings issue that’s not obvious. If it still doesn’t work, might be worth it to call Samsung support. They can be super helpful with these kind of specific problems. Hope this helps and you get back to enjoying your sound system soon!
Will the sound bar work if I don’t have a smart TV and use an android box (HDMI cable) to watch movies?
Absolutely, your soundbar should work fine even with a non-smart TV. If you're using an Android box with an HDMI cable to watch movies, just connect your soundbar to the TV's optical out. The soundbar will pick up the audio from whatever's playing on the TV, including stuff from your Android box. Just make sure the TV's set to send audio to the optical output.
thanks I did the diagnostic test and then advance setting I look the the thing and said no I do not use any sound bar I click on it and it seem to work. I will look for the pcm
Oh cool, glad the video helped ya out a bit! Yeah, diving into those advanced settings can be kinda tricky but sounds like you're on the right track. Going for the PCM option is a smart move, should definitely help with the sound issue. Keep tweaking those settings
My issue was that my mother did some cleaning and decided to do cable management, and that managed to squeeze my optical cable so there was no audio output. Luckily the cable was not damaged and taking t rubber band apart fixed them xd
oh man, that's kinda funny but glad it got sorted! Cable management can be a real pain sometimes, espically with those delicate optical cables. Good thing it wasn't damaged. Cheers for sharing your fix, might help others too!
How do I get the TV remote control the volume of my Samsung soundbar ?? Please help
Connect your soundbar to the TV using an optical cable.
Go to your TV's audio settings and set the sound output to 'Audio Out/Optical'.
On your TV, turn on 'Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC)' in the settings. This lets your TV remote control devices connected via HDMI.
If your soundbar is connected via HDMI, make sure it's plugged into the HDMI-ARC port on your TV.
If it's still not working, double-check that your soundbar is set to 'D.IN' mode (for optical connection) or 'ARC' mode (for HDMI connection).
Hello, my is samsung HW-H750 , turn on whithout high sound only sound the bass ,did have idea what is the problem thank you...
Hey, looks like your Samsung HW-H750 isn't working right. Maybe the audio settings need a check. Try adjusting the sound settings on the TV, and make sure the cable connections are all good. If that doesn't help, might be a problem with the soundbar itself.
my samsung cu7700 the control volume wont work while it's connected with optical cable. it displays on screen the volume icon but doesnt go up nor down. means i have to manually change it. Also it doesnt recognize my hometheather so i cant even set my control to control the hometheather.
Dang, that sounds frustrating! 😕 Maybe try unplugging and plugging back in? Or check if there's any software updates for your TV. Sometimes that helps. And for the hometheather, maybe it's not compatible? Just guessing here. Hope you figure it out soon! 📺🔊
@@hifiaudios8101 did the plugthing still wont work. As for the home, when i put the model the tv doesnt find it and it shows another model. Probably the one im using is way too old for the tv to know about it. Gonna do the update search thing, ty.
Hey dude.... I've a doubt....i bought zebronics 7400 pro
And my Samsung tv 50inch....
But dolby Atmos....is greyed out....and this function not available showing s
Sometimes Dolby Atmos gets greyed out if the audio output setting isn't compatible or the content doesn't support it. Try checking your TV's audio output settings and see if switching to a different mode helps. Also, make sure your Zebronics 7400 Pro supports Dolby Atmos. Hope this helps a bit!
My soundbar will work for 5 minutes or so and then it automatically goes back to the tv audio. I have no clue what to do. I bought a new optical output cable too and still the same issue. Did the settings trick too but then it just resets itself or still continues to disconnect.
Since you've already tried a new optical cable and messed with the settings, it might be a good idea to check if there's some sort of auto-detect audio feature on your TV that's switching the sound back to the TV speakers. Sometimes TVs try to be smart but end up being a bit too helpful. Also, double-check the soundbar settings; there might be something there causing it to disconnect or go to sleep. If all else fails, reaching out to the customer support for your TV or soundbar could shed some light. They've probably seen this before.
Pls answer I just connected a headset to my samsung tv then I put out the headset and it says its connected so There's no sound from the TV
Hey, sounds like the TV still thinks your headset's plugged in. Try goin to the sound settings on your TV and switch the output to TV speakers. Sometimes, unplugging and replugging the headset can also kick it back to normal. Hope this helps! 👍
@@hifiaudios8101 Thanks for your suggestion but I went to the settings and it didn't let me change the settings cause it pretended to be connected with the headset LOL
Dont understand. 1 day fixed after second day not workign again and still not working Samsung UE65AU7022KXXH with Pionner 5.1 by Optical
Hey, that sounds really frustrating! Sometimes these things can be a bit tricky. If it was working one day and then stopped, it might be a loose connection or something with the settings might've changed. Double check the optical connections are snug and not loose. Also, check if any settings on the TV or the Pioneer system got reset or changed. If you've tried that and it's still not working, maybe a power cycle (unplug and replug after a few minutes) might help reset things. Hope it sorts out soon!
Why doesn't the tv just have rca ?
i kno right? would be way easier with rca. think its cuz newer tvs are all about digital audio now. kinda miss the simple old days lol 😅
@@hifiaudios8101 thank you sir, I ordered a digital to analog audio converter. it worked once and stopped. smh I am going to try your suggestions.
Mine said "TV Optical" or "TV speaker" Sooo...I figured a speaker would be nice. Ta-da! (SO far... now, back to try streaming)
Ah, gotcha! Choosing 'TV Speaker' usually means the sound will come out from the TV's own speakers. If you wanna use the optical out for external speakers or sound system, you should select 'TV Optical'. Enjoy your streaming, and fingers crossed it all works out smooth for ya!
did all those and no help
oh man, that's rough. have you tried checking the audio settings on your TV? sometimes it's set to the wrong output. also, maybe the optical cable's busted? try a different one if you can. good luck, hope it works out!
Useless -- my Samsung HAS NO SELF DIAGOSIS OPTION
Maybe try checking in the settings or manual? Sometimes manufacturers change menu options.
@@hifiaudios8101 yeah - thanks for trying to help. The Samsung tv I was referring to is the one one my deck and because it resides outdoors I bought the cheapest model. I did get it working using some of your basic info thank you
There is no self diagnosis on my tv and reset is greyed out/not functional. What now? I've tried everything else. I've called Samsung already with no help
Sometimes a firmware update can fix these kinds of issues. Check if there's an update available for your TV. If that doesn’t work, try unplugging it for a few minutes and then plugging it back in. If all else fails, maybe a factory reset using the remote might help.
