Richie does an amazing job playing both the solos. He obviously is a big fan of his playing and definitely plays with precision and feel. It is not easy to capture the feel that goes into both Murray and Smith's playing. In my opinion, they are one of the greatest guitar duos of all time.
Any good guitar player doesn't need to look at his hands when playing. Check out some of doug Blair's work from wasp, live in concert, he plays his solos with his eyes shut. You'd be impressed
janko gvs - well you know that if you don't rely on looking at your hands, you will be that much more accurate to land on your feet 100% of the time. It's like Jeff Healey, he could see the fretboard in his brain despite having lost his sight in his childhood. It's incredible how fluid and confident his playing comes across compared to almost anybody.
When he was still in Lauren Harris's band, Steve Harris told him that he was his first choice to replace any of the guys in Maiden if something were to happen.
Same thoughts! I have an old black Strat that I would like to make more of a 'metal' guitar. It probably has the right basic sound, it's beefy rather than sweet and chimey.
One of the most underrated all time great songs by Maiden. The solos in this song are some of my favorite. Wish you would of posted more of the song. Sounds great!
Richie is insanely capable at hearing lead guitar parts and knowing how to effortlessly pull them off (no pun.) he makes me want to dive in and study lead playing. I could watch him all day. The second / Dave part of the solo section is very unusual, Nicko plays (I think) 3 1/2 bars of 3/4 time, then he shifts to half a bar of 4/4 time, so naturally it feels like a lag. I can't tell if the drums here are quite on or not. It may be Richie is jumping the gun slightly when he comes back in there because there is a slight difference in the length of that last half bar. It's confusing! But generally these guys groove their timing VERY well and I'm impressed. Up the Irons!
It's really sad because their set list is so effing predictable. Nicko is intimidated by the difficulty of these shifting time signatures... So they should just fake their way through it and simply it slightly just like every band that has an 'unplayable' song (like Metallica with "blackened.")
It's not that Adrian is a better soloist. I believe it's the different style of solos are what make Maiden so great. Two of the best metal guitarists period!!!
In my opinion, Maiden's guitar lines aren't as technical as Judas Priest's. Any Maiden's lines are generally playable to anyone. Nevertheless it doesn't mean their songs aren't good. Maiden is a pack you don't just listen to the guitar but all of them.

The fact that he doesn't even need to look at his hands to see what he's playing just blows my mind.
1991ClarkJames its just practice

@@giannisvar4414 tell that to Dave Mustain, 40 years of playing live and I have yet to see him perform once without looking at his hands LOL
E Medel a player who doesnt look his fretboard doesnt exist

He could easily join maiden as well.
I think he would give maiden a more heavier touch as well
Hey!!. We got more than enough guitars!!!
Maiden doesn't need any more guitar players.
When he was still in Lauren Harris's band, Steve Harris told him that he was his first choice to replace any of the guys in Maiden if something were to happen.
@schef61 he said it in an interview
Love it, and on an old Strat with humbuckers, as Dave Murray as it gets. Just awesone.

This is the shit. I really look forward to these Maiden covers with Richie's personal flair added. Superb choices!
How does he get the solo to sound so friggin similar to the original? Amazing.
Yeah, same fact crossed my mind
Because he's got a shit lot of old Marshall's and some old Strats too
It's really mostly in his hands, as pickup builder Seymour Duncan would tell you.
'90% of tone issues can be solved with practice.' - SD.
TheD6667 - hey I thought Maiden were trying out those silly Gallien-Krueger amps on this album and tour.
talent

One of the best Maiden guitar solos that still gives me chills every time I hear it 👍
Fucking love Richie for so many reasons.... It simply doesnt get better than Priest and Maiden!!! Awesome short video!!!!
These maiden covers are making me cry. God this is what I've always wanted
This dude LOVES what he does!
Great !!!solo
Great tone! Such a great tune and my favorite Maiden record.
We need the full song! This is just perfect!
Awesometastic
Epic solo!! Im so impressed by the ease of Richies playing!
Just imagine if he joined maiden. I think that would be the best thing ever
This solo is fantastic.
Just 1 word needed -- EPIC👍👍👍
Epic performance !!! 🎸🎸♠️♠️
Goosebumps!
Joe, you are amazingly talented. I really like the vibe and the additional groove you put in the songs you cover.
We all love some soulful, melodic Adrian Smith solos. Richie too apparently
Love the solo in that song!
Awesome stuff!!! Always loved that song!
Grandi
hell yes amazing.........
Thanks!!
Fantastic guitar sound and playing
,,,,,,,nailed it !!!!...........w
grande Richie!!!!
Richie please teach this solo to Adrian 😁 so Iron Maiden can play the song...
@@grieverr3 Adrian once joked that they couldn't play the song live because he forgot the solo.
@@grieverr3 It was a joke, don't you think that Adrian would easily learn it again if He forgot about it?
Too bad there wasn't a full version of this song.
Please make full song, not only the solo (which is great anyway)!
Awesoooommee...
The new Randy!😃
Thats awesome - Up The Irons!
Awesome...!
we want a full cover came on..
Sad that Maiden never plays this song, such a good one, in the same ball park as Rime of the ancient mariner imho.

Excellent, thanks to both \m/
Hopefully he plays a couple of songs with them on the new tour !
The question that is as old as the bands themselves. Does Ritchie think Maiden are better than Priest?
Get it fellas
Is Richie trying to tell us something with all these Maiden videos? B)
Full version where? Please!!!
Holy shit. Do you happen to have the full version? xD
🤘😝🤘
I want to see the strat
Wish I could see your fret hand man...
I reckon he's setting himself up for a Maiden spot just in case!
It would be funny if they just added a fourth guitar player.
Entire vídeo?
Can we see the whole thing by any chance?
Philip Bowdler He only played along to the solo on this one. It sparked us to do To Tame A Land
@@JoeLazDrums Ahh, ok, that was excellent btw. You're the best Nicko aside from the man himself 🤘
Philip Bowdler Ah thanks a lot. I appreciate that 🙏🏼
🤘😆🤘
Anyone know where he got his shirts from? I think it says 'Old Bone(s) Society.
Going to iron maiden?
Complete vídeo?
You should be in maiden when the next vacancy comes up....
Don't think there will ever be one.
Adrian’s solo is so much better than Dave’s, as per usual. 😆
It's not that Adrian is a better soloist. I believe it's the different style of solos are what make Maiden so great. Two of the best metal guitarists period!!!
Are you serious? Adrian is not the better soloist. Not by a long shot.
@@cflowers69 Thanks man, needed a laugh tonight. 🤣
