Awesome wood paneling and an arcade w retro galaga oh hell yeah! If I only had a delorean w a flux capaciter I would travel to 1985 and just be a mallrat like the good old days!
Very familiar with Holyoke Mall. Two weeks before the Mall opened. I worked with a team of window cleaners to clean all the glass banisters on the 2nd & 3rd level of the mall The worse was having to hang over the top edge to clean the outside of the glass. Especially the Food Court area being 5 stories down. NOW, You need to GET To Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro before it closes. It's less than 50% full now!!
Filene’s Basement was on the bottom level back in the 80s. Once we got our licenses we hopped up from Enfield JUST for Filene's Basement. Then it went out of biz. Loved that place.
Another excellent video and as others said I'm glad the owners respected and kept the original decor (the wood is an excellent natural touch with the great lighting) with the modern touches. Holyoke seems more bright and alive than, lets say, Simon mall owned properties. Maybe Holyoke is successful because of the mix of stores: everyone loves Target, many shop Burlington and Old Navy and there's big stores like Macys. It's well designed and I bet is busy opening hours. The JC Penneys and Macys look 80s classic blending with another exploding Forever 21 becoming a junior anchor. Thanks for doing this. FYI I'm loving that opening music. I can imagine listening to it if I'm flying cross country to LA or overseas to London, Paris and berlin.
I remember I was 8 when this Mall opened and I spent alot of weekends here and at Enfield Square. How this Mall is STILL doing ok is dumbfounding, considering the state of the malls in the area, and the fact Sears, Macy's and Penney's are shuttered at Holyoke currently. Thank you for doing this video!
Grew up close to this mall, worked there in college, and it is still one my favorite malls. Still go there every Christmas when Im home. Its very much an alive mall still.
When I lived nearby years ago this place was my go to shopping destination. The parking lot/garages were so huge the used to run shuttle buses from the lots to the mall entrances. There have been numerous anchors that are no longer there including, Sage Allen and Stieger’s. Both local favourites. This mall has always thrived and there’s no reason why it wouldn’t continue to do so. I’m glad they’ve kept the wood paneling!
Nice video, since I doubt I'll ever get to this area(due to the fact I live in Chicago) to see Holyoke Mall. Had always seen pics of this mall in the past, and nice to see it still has a nice inside look even with its more recent renovation. The mall logo is nice as well, and I love how they kept the wood paneling on the wall between the floors.
Omg it still has the arcade!!!! That’s precious rare! I remember. One of my two teen malls I hung out at. Yay! So happy to see that arcade. The mall has changed so much but it’s still got the vibe.
This is about 2 hours southwest of where I live (New Hampshire). I don't think I've ever been to this mall - I like how they married some of the original aesthetic with the current aesthetic. If you ever make it to New England again at some point, you should check out the Steeplegate Mall in Concord, NH - it's small, but trapped in the early '90s aesthetics-wise and is around 70% vacant. The other three malls here in southern NH are all thriving due to MA residents taking advantage of the lack of sales tax here. So, if you were to make a trip to see Steeplegate, I'd combine it with some more MA malls in the Boston metro area - I think there may be a few dead ones around there, if I recall.
Been watching your videos for ages, was in glee when I found out you visited my personal favorite mall! I’m just sad I didn’t realize you did a tour of it until now!
At my local mall, seats closed awhile ago, Macy's just closed, now Carson's is closing, the only anchors left are JC Penney, and Target Sears not seats.
Just heard they are going to be adding movie theatres to this mall once again(it originally had them, but they closed over 20 years ago). BTW, Sears and JC Penney were the original anchors for the mall. Target replaced the Service Merchandise when that chain folded, the Macy's came when the late 90's south addition was put on and Best Buy and Forever 21 came during the last east/west north expansion of the mall in the early 2000's.
The Service Merchandise space is actually where Hobby Lobby is now and of course before that H&M before they moved to the upper level. There was no real expansion of the mall on the north and west sides, Forever 21 just went into part of the space that was Lord & Taylor and previously Steigers. Same with Best Buy, it occupies part of a former anchor with Xmas Tree Shops on the lower level. Where Target is was originally G. Fox and I think Nobody Beat The Wiz for a time in the 90s.
I think this might be the only mall I've ever been to that had both an Apple Store and a Burlington Coat Factory. Usually a BCF is an indication of a mall at risk of sliding into dead mall status, but you generally only see Apple Stores in top tier malls.
This has both an Apple Store and Burlington Coat Factory?!? MAJOR shocker to me, since yeah that's generally right of any mall that they'd have one or the other, but never both. Burlington like you said, indeed often does anchor malls that are struggling, or at least heading towards dead mall status.
Ace! Good to see you in my home state of MA! I used to drive on I-90 a lot and was always curious about the Auburn Mall in Worcester. Worth checking out?
I look forward to videos with commentary. I'm one that loves that stuff, and personal experiences at venues gives a snapshot of the legacy then-and-now of different places.
Great video tour of my hometown mall. It looks like it hasn't been totally immune from the retail shakeout but is still mostly holding its own. Someone mention further down in the comments how Apple and Burlington Coat Factory can exist in the same mall but that is the way things have always been. A little something for everyone. Sometimes though they try to bring in too many high dollar stores (for instance, the space that is where 110 Grill is going was previously a Williams-Sonoma) and it ends up not working out. This mall draws from a large geographic area but mostly a blue collar and middle class demographic so this mall is at its best when they have mostly mid-tier mainstream retailers with a few high-end stores and some discount stuff. Of the original anchors, Penneys and Sears are the ones still there. Where Forever 21 is now (well, before they move to their new spot) was a Lord & Taylor which never really did well and closed in 2005. But again, great job on the video tour.
I hope you can film a video of Thornes Marketplace in Downtown Northampton, Wilson's Department Store in Downtown Greenfield, and Eastworks in Easthampton sometime soon.
Ace, you missed a good opportunity while you were u this way to film three other malls, The Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro, MA, the Hampshire Mall in Hadley, MA, and the Auburn Mall in Auburn MA
actually - it was always known as Ingleside - but everybody just started calling it the Holyoke Mall - I have some flier from around when it opened .....
The Arcade. The Comic Book-Store, The curio headshop, the glass elevator. The Jelly Belly store. The Record store, the Book stores, The Movies, the girls....
what day or time did you visited this mall? how come all stores seemed close? even the food court was isolated, only Mcdonalds seem open. Is this a dead mall too?
I'll guess even though I'm not sure, that he filmed it sometime before all the shops opened for the day. During the early part of the mall walking hours, right after that period began in the morning.
.....It reminds of the former Mall at The World Trade.....The one that got destroyed in the attacks.....BTW, I was in Pittsburgh this past week for my Fiance's murder trial.....I seen a lot of new mini-malls and even new schools and police precincts.....They are really cleaning up down there.....
Yeah, but most of our malls are dead or dying. :-( Other than Ross Park, South Hills Village, Robinson and (arguably) Monroeville, the rest of them (and there are a ton - too many, even) are suffering (Beaver Valley), closing (Century 3) or already gone (Parkway Center).
Man In Magenta Wig .....I went by Parkway center....More businesses are there including a new bar, Starbucks, and another police HQ, Of course, it's not the former mall....And, they really need to do the area around that Giant Eagle super market....It looks abandoned....
Awesome wood paneling and an arcade w retro galaga oh hell yeah! If I only had a delorean w a flux capaciter I would travel to 1985 and just be a mallrat like the good old days!

I practically grew up in Holyoke Mall. Lived down the road off of Route 5.
nice
Life in the 413 deadass
That is a beautiful mall. Nice to see one thriving. I love both tracks of music that you put in! 💜 so cool to see a mixture of old and new. 😀
Another excellent video and as others said I'm glad the owners respected and kept the original decor (the wood is an excellent natural touch with the great lighting) with the modern touches. FYI I'm loving that opening music. I can imagine listening to it if I'm flying cross country to LA or overseas to London, Paris and berlin.
I love the wood paneling mixed with the modern touches. Gorgeous mall!
I love how they didn't take out the vintage parts. Mall's now are to white and clean cut.
Love the music in the introduction.
It looks so clean.
Well now Macy's and Penny's are open I wish I could say the same for Sears. Thank Eddie Lampert for Sears committing hari Kari!
Grew up close to this mall, worked there in college, and it is still one my favorite malls. Still go there every Christmas when Im home. Its very much an alive mall still.
Did you go to HCC?
When I lived nearby years ago this place was my go to shopping destination. The parking lot/garages were so huge the used to run shuttle buses from the lots to the mall entrances. G! Worldwide During Christmas from the white lot out front. I remember them offering shuttles from there.
lol remember kahunaville?
Great shooting, Ace!
I grew up in Connecticut. Haven't been to this mall since 1994 when I moved to Florida. I remember it was 3 floors and the biggest in our area
Nice video, since I doubt I'll ever get to this area(due to the fact I live in Chicago) to see Holyoke Mall. Had always seen pics of this mall in the past, and nice to see it still has a nice inside look even with its more recent renovation. You definitely should go if you ever have a chance I go here all the time and the whole place is cool
My hometown, hey!!
Omg it still has the arcade!!!! That’s precious rare! I remember. One of my two teen malls I hung out at. Yay! So happy to see that arcade. The mall has changed so much but it’s still got the vibe.
It isn't the original, as I was there a few years before he was, and it was gone.
Old video, it’s been gone a while now ):
I like the flooring in this mall.

Lee Dubay yeah Burlington mall does well. He should check out Woburn mall, small but a travel in time worth it.
Want to go see a living dead mall go to brass mill in Waterbury Connecticut
Been watching your videos for ages, was in glee when I found out you visited my personal favorite mall! I’m just sad I didn’t realize you did a tour of it until now!

This channel always shows me some awesome 80's styled synthwave to check out!

A Burlington Coat Factory and a Cheesecake Factory is another combo I wouldn't expect to see, but I'm sure it exists somewhere
Well my dude let's put it this way Holyoke Mall at ingleside is basically a top-shelf mall if any there be that deserve that title! 😊
I was there in 2003. They had a Games Workshop that was kinda neat to visit. My favorite place to eat was the place with the Gyros...
This is incredible.
seriously your videos get better and better!! Great soundtrack!
Marisa Michaels thank you! Music is so key to me
Great video. Thanks alot for filming. I love your channel.
Great upbeat music!
i used to go to that mall back in the early 2000s. its in a good place because the area was never oversaturated with shopping either.
🎶🎶🎶I always find the best songs in your videos 👌🏻😃🎶🎶🎶
Hey Ace happy memorial day weekend thank you for the new footage 👍👍 brotha ✌😁✌
It's beautiful!
That opening tune was so amazingly 80's!
This mall does have decent upkeep. I was last here when Compusa was open -- a long time ago.
Love that interior! 👍
Love the video, always do
I love your channel, Anthony!
Awesome video
Great video!
There's days I've never gone in months to that mall
Grew up on this mall and east field thanks for showing them off

I've been to a mall in GA that looks similar.
I go there sometimes, I go there for the Pokestops and Cluster Spawns
Oh, goody. Another channel from, YOU!! I can't wait. Another great video, but too short.
I like both Dead Malls and any indoor mall. I want to see them all YO!
This is a great mall.
Thanks!
Sears in Holyoke mall will be closing by the end of the year
YESSSSS I GREW UP IN THIS MALL, I STILL GO TO IT EVERY WEEK, (I live like 5 mins away from it lol)
Great video tour of my hometown mall. It looks like it hasn't been totally immune from the retail shakeout but is still mostly holding its own. It would be nice to see the rest of Holyoke like this
I hope you can film a video of Thornes Marketplace in Downtown Northampton, Wilson's Department Store in Downtown Greenfield, and Eastworks in Easthampton sometime soon.
Very cool
Very awesome mall, I’d love to see in person
Nice to see thriving malls still. Though it doesn't look busy when you were there. Was it really early?
Hotel Traveler yes just me and the mall walkers 😂
Cool :)
Ace, you missed a good opportunity while you were u this way to film three other malls, The Berkshire Mall in Lanesboro, MA, the Hampshire Mall in Hadley, MA, and the Auburn Mall in Auburn MA
Evan Weiner i was on a time crunch and limited budget
I miss not going inside the Disney Store. =P
Well i have been in one once
A lot of stuff changed there damn
you have to hit the Woburn mall
It's always been the Holyoke Mall at Ingleside. Never just the Holyoke Mall.
actually - it was always known as Ingleside - but everybody just started calling it the Holyoke Mall - I have some flier from around when it opened .....
hellomcflyy ahh good to know
The Arcade. The Comic Book-Store, The curio headshop, the glass elevator. The Jelly Belly store. The Record store, the Book stores, The Movies, the girls....
You’re in mass? Go to the lilac mall in Rochester nh. That place is beyond dead and somehow open
Or go to the Burlington mall which is a total success
i want in 60fps
what day or time did you visited this mall? how come all stores seemed close? even the food court was isolated, only Mcdonalds seem open. Is this a dead mall too?
GLI Flyer not dead at all as stated i the video, i film before they open to avoid issues
No I go here all the time and it's not dead at all. He just went when the stores were closed
PLEASE.NAME.ALL.YOUR.AWESOME.SONGS!
Amy Maow i did, the titles right on screen
was the place open?
I'll guess even though I'm not sure, that he filmed it sometime before all the shops opened for the day. During the early part of the mall walking hours, right after that period began in the morning.
works for me! looked rather spaerse...
I shop here pretty often. The mall doesn’t usually look like this when all of the stores are open, so I’m assuming he went hella early or something.
It's not a dead mall.
.....It reminds of the former Mall at The World Trade.....The one that got destroyed in the attacks.....BTW, I was in Pittsburgh this past week for my Fiance's murder trial.....I seen a lot of new mini-malls and even new schools and police precincts.....They are really cleaning up down there.....

I love the older pyramid malls but Bob Congel was an a$$#ole.
This mall looks very dead!!! Not thriving
