All in around 3k and will give me another 200k miles) 👌
I drive a 97 Lincoln Town Car. Far from being embarrassed. I am proud to drive a beautiful, comfortable, reliable car with a monthly payment of zero dollars. This past weekend two guys approached us at a gas station and wanted to buy the car right there and then. Two weeks prior we came out of Target to find someone taking pictures of it. Proud to stand out!!!
@Lucille69caddy I'm thinking 80s. My bad. My 1988 Mark VII had the 5.0 HO but my 1997 Lincoln Continental had that modular engine. Still not a bad motor but the original 5.0 was a great engine.
@@traceybiles2061exactly this! I bought my 2007 Toyota off the lot brand new. I’ve followed all of Toyotas recommended routine maintenance schedules & she runs like a champ. I’m driving her until the wheels fall off - and with only 120k on her, I’ve got like another 200k+ to go - knock on wood 😂
RIght? I still drive my 1990 and 1997 Accord, both at about 350k. They never break and if anything needs replacement, they're still popular and in junkyards everywhere still and cheap/easy to fix.

A car is a car! I’m glad she takes pride in her vehicle. If it gets you from point A to point B, it’s just fine. If you can afford and brand new one, that’s great too! Always be thankful like this girl.
If you're 'into cars' and watch a lot of that content here on YT you'll see that cars made in the last ten years, at least, just don't seem to be as well designed and built as older designs. This is for all makes. A lot of it is driven by governments forcing manufacturers to use troublsome design features, like direct injection, in the name of getting cars to run .002% cleaner (not worth it!).
Buying brand new cars, even paying cash, is not a wise money choice. Unless you have a positive net worth of over 1million… but even then, most millionaires buy guys that are a couple of years old. You lose so much money the day you drive it off the lot
That entirely depends on country. What I mean is that, that entirely depends on the laws of the country but either way you should never buy new unless you are rich and can truly afford it. But for countries like mine after your car reaches a certain age it becomes more expensive to tax and insure it every year right up until it reaches 20 years old and then it is classed as classic or after 30 it becomes classed as vintage and from my understanding the insurance and tax becomes cheaper when it is classed as either. Also instead of being able to test (I think the right name for it is NCT) a car only once every 2 years it then has to be tested once every year at a minimum to still be roadworthy

@@Callsign_SturmThe problem is that most people don't know and aren't curious to learn how to deal with car problems or don't have the time, and, often, labor and parts, when you need them, end up being expensive! However, I went to the USA and found the public transport service to be poor compared to Brazil, São Paulo, which is underdeveloped, so I think a car is a necessity there, even! In Brazil I have a 1995 car, which no longer pays taxes, only licensing fees, I already had a 2011, in 2020 until 2023, but you have to be interested in mechanics and electrical to solve specific problems! Otherwise, I think the older car is perfect. Here in Brazil I use it more on weekends, I think public transport is good for weekly commitments!

honestly, my partner & i were recently very fortunate to get a new car. it was my first ever car & his first new car. he owned his last car but it was old & incredibly worn out after having lived in it for a year with no maintenance. it was a disaster inside & those experiences stick with you so we still struggle to keep our car clean. i hope no one ever feels bad ab their own personal cars, it’s your space & no one has any right to judge you for it. sorry for the rambling if you read this far, i just know it can be rough.
@@metooo-zo6dd I mean 14 years old is nearly at the bottom of it's depreciation. Almost all non collector cars have lost 80% of their value in the first 10 years of ownership. 2010 might not be a classic, but considering the lifespan of most cars is around 10 to 20 years before they end up in junkyards, it qualifies as an "older" car. It obviously depends on factors like how much you drive, where you live, and how well it is maintained. But most people don't do engine rebuilds on a Toyota Camry when it reaches the end of its lifespan (in the west) because it would cost more in labor and parts than the car is worth. I live in Canada so the only cars that last more than 20 years are ones that are exceptionally maintained or just driven at a below average rate.

Never get rid of the 03 Dodge! Goes without saying but the newer ones are NOT built the same. The newer rams stay visiting our shop! I have two 2018s right now that need transmissions (like a $9k repair bill) and my shop foreman just finished timing chains, tensiners and guides on a newer 1500 that was showing cam lobe wear at 102k miles absolutely pathetic 😂 At the other end of the spectrum, we've gotta 06 Dodge ram in for 300k mile fluid services. 2005 toyota camry here. Cars been in my family since i was a child passed on to me as an adult now by my parents, i remember when my dad first bought it. He passed away in 2020. I absolutely love this car besides the heavy sentiment it carries, truely an amazing car. I will never be ashamed of it. It holds a special place in my soul. ❤
I loved my old Toyota Camry. It was the same model and was golden! It was my family’s first brand new car and adored it, and then it was given to me to use. But poor baby wasn’t so reliable anymore so had to sell it for a new car

Bought it for $23,000 dollars. When it gets to $100,000 dollars I will sell it. Only has 79,000 miles on it. I never feel embarrassed about driving my old car because I own everything I have and have plenty of money stashed to pay for us to have a great retirement.
Not necessarily impress. I decided to buy a newer 2021 used car because I don’t want to deal with the headache of buying an older one that already has over 60,000 miles and potential out of pocket repairs .. Plus I want a car that came with warranty so I went with certified pre owned.
I drive a 2000 Mazda Protege DX I got for $1800 with 68,000 miles on it in 2019. I’ve had no issues with it and if it’s saving me from a minimum $400-600/month car payment, I will never complain about it.
I bought my '02 camry with the 2AZ-FE engine for $2k outright. which had 190k mi. at the time. It had been neglected by the previous owners, So I spent another $1k for replacement fluids & parts which included a full set of new tires. After doing the maintenance myself, It regained 90% of it's Torque & Horsepower output while still achieving great gas mileage. after 3.5 yrs of ownership, it's given me absolutely no problems, and the registration & insurance has been dirt cheap! The odometer now reads 239k mi. I still drive it everyday, and it still performs as though it has far less mileage. The oil changes are so easy, there's no excuse for going past the change interval. I've owned many cars, and my old camry is one of the best cars I've ever owned in so many ways. I don't care if that's the last car I drive for the rest of my life. And I'm in my mid 40's
Same here...I'm in my late 40s and my daily is a 97 Explorer Sport with about a quarter of a million on the clock. My weekender is a 91 Civic hot hatch. I'm not a fan of these newer "smart" cars...I like to drive, not be warned by some sensor every 5 damn minutes.
Toyotas from that era (90's-00's) are great. My '93 Corolla has just 78k miles (a time capsule), while my daily '94 has turned 173k miles. Absolutely great cars overall. I also own a '94 Suzuki Sidekick with 226k miles and a '94 Hyundai Excel with 118k miles. I'll die before I get a car payment.
How do you know the horsepower and torque? I would bet you didn't dyno it. Also, never buy a neglected car; you can't undo the damage just by changing fluids unless you literally tear down and rebuild the engine.

One could argue that it isn't really about how clean the interior is: longevity is all about maintenance and rust mitigation. ALL the fluids need periodic changing....and lack of maintenance is the cause of most engine issues.
Yeah usually how well ppl maintain the interior of their car shows how well they keep up on mechanical maintenance too. Cars that look like hers usually don’t get the attention they need under the hood either
I love how she says she hates having a messy car, yet the whole video is about her cleaning the mess in her car. Even though she had all her belongings in her car, it could have been more organized. For example; in boxes or suitcases rather than on the floor and in the seats.
Put it on a storage place or sell it. If ppl really loved their cars, they would keep it clean. They’re literally like a child, the maintenance, gas, insurance. If you pay for that keep your car baby clean
She also tosses it all in the trunk 😂. I think if you have an older car you'd have every car fluid in the trunk to keep it topped off. Of course she probably takes her car into a mechanic or has a boyfriend who keeps the car maintained.
I have a 2011 Toyota RAV4. I got their premium model and I love it. It has seat warmers, a moonroof, leather seats and the best part is that it has amazing JBL speakers all over the car. Bought my 07 Toyota straight off the lot in 2006 & I’ve been driving her ever since. I baby her, I’ve done nothing but routine maintenance & followed Toyotas guidelines for everything (oil, brakes/rotors, spark plugs, timing belt at 100k, etc.). She has low mileage and I plan to drive her until I can’t anymore. She may not be the newest or most aesthetically pleasing car on the road, but she’s reliable and she’s paid off.
I used to drive an 05 Ford Focus. It was my first car and I loved it. It had some electronic issues, but I was able to easily get around those things. No car payment was well worth it! Made it to 216,000 miles. I miss it.
Ours is 18 years old this May and every time "she" needs to go to the repair service or check up, we pray that we can keep her since she is paid off, normally very reliable and since we bought her when I was pregnant with my first, she is the only car the kids know and part of our history (you know, all the exploding diapers, the vomiting kids etc. - our car faced it all with us).
I love my old car and my older car even more! I have a 1989 5.0 Mustang 5-speed, that I bought when I was 19... in 1992 I painted if a hot pink custom paint to match my favorite nail polish. Over 30 years, bringing me joy, I love working on my car, I do my own mechanics and tune ups, oil changes, etc. and she's still badass and going strong! It brings me so much joy driving it. The heater core is shot so no heat 😱 but in a few weeks it will be warm enough for me to install the new one. It's a big project I have to drop the steering wheel and pull the dash to get to the heater core which is behind the glovebox. So yeah sometimes older cars need maintenance, but true all fixable not disposable like new really plastic cars! 🤷🏼♀️ My other car is a 2006 Ford Explorer, I also bought brand new and still love it, my husband did something to my radio 🤦🏼♀️ but last week he finally put in the replacement radio that I bought, finally. I bought it a year before I got married. We found out we were pregnant with our son at our one year anniversary! Next month we'll be married 17 years and this fall our son will start driving! So many memories! I'll be teaching him to drive in the Explorer and then when he's good enough and I think he can handle the power, I'll teach him how to drive stick on my Mustang! #BultFordTough
Your Mustang and I are the same age! No worries though; my 2008 Jeep is the same age as my younger cousin that I care for...and it's the same car I am going to use to teach her how to drive!
I love oldies, I own a 76 gmc truck. Camper special. 7.4 454 long block. It was sitting for a while in a yard. Trying to find a 70s el Camino to swap the motor in.
2006 Toyota Yaris. Had it since 39K. Its now done 247K. I have just kept fixing it over the years because I have all the tools and its cheap. Plenty of parts in scrapyards. I even put a used engine in it recently and it only ever let me down once when the engine was worn out. Its taken me to 23 different countries and always got me home. So many times I was travelling for work, commuting long distances every day or doing deliveries with it and I had no money and it never let me down.
@@MaxCroat It is their smallest engine - 1KR-FE which only has 3 cylinders. They are in a lot of cars in Europe. They are cheap and made to a budget. The Yaris is probably at the limit of what it can cope with an I have used the car for hauling around a lot of weight over thousands of miles. The main reason mine got swapped out was because the head gasket had failed and start to leak coolant into Cylinder No. 3. Believe it or not a used engine is almost as cheap and less work than changing the headgasket. My engine was also low on compression. It was an oil burner and the cylinder walls were getting quite smooth. It needed a hone and maybe oversized pistons as well as rings. So when you can get a low mileage engine for £300 delivered why bother repairing it? I also installed a new clutch while I was at it. In a way it was sad. I stripped it down after taking it out and the top end, timing and bearings on the bottom end were all immaculate. It was just the rings and bores which were bad and the head gasket had failed.
@@zoidberg444 yes I am also from a european country so I am well aware of the push with three cylinder engines in cars. I dont know where exactly you are from, but that amount of money for a used engine is very cheap. I am very surprised to hear that, as usually it is hard to find even an engine in bad/unknown condition with unknown odometer and no warranty for that cheap.

I own a 2005 Ford Crown Victoria P71 interceptor. Paid $1600 for her and I’ve dropped about $10k in repairs and upgrades which most I did myself. Stage 2 transmission, rebuilt performance suspension, performance brakes, etc etc. Shit I just installed brand new premium calipers and rotors just a couple weeks ago along with a new master cylinder. I’ve had this car for over 6 years going strong and I still see no reason to have a car note just because it’s a “new” vehicle. I think it’s how too many people live way beyond their means and get into extreme debt. Only things I’ve spent money on my car were ways to make her even better than the way I found her, not to dig myself out of a massive debt mountain. These interest rates today are pretty scary.

I have a 2016 Ford Fiesta with almost 160,000 miles on it. Paid $4300 cash for it because the check engine light was on and the shop wanted to charge the owner $2000 to fix it. At the time I got it the car had 99k miles. After I diagnosed it, I determined I needed a new catalytic converter and a fuel purge solenoid valve. $230 in parts and 1 day labor, I was done. No high monthly payments, no high insurance, no high registration, maintenance is cheap. I’m running this into the dirt before I get another fixer upper.
When did you buy it? I’m pretty sure we got our ford fiesta in 2016 and it was 30k new 😅 we had to get the fiesta because our other fiesta from 2013 was a lemon and all ford would do was loan us another fiesta.

Older car. She 2010. Some people are out of touch with the rest of us
@@metooo-zo6dd I mean 14 years old is nearly at the bottom of it's depreciation.

2002 Ford Explorer V8. Absolutely indestructible car, and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. I’m never getting rid of it, no matter what happens.
Back then, they had far less complex shit in them. Thats what made them last.
You got them Firestone tires
@@mikeross111 nah, I got 20 inch wheels with Toyos. Those Firestones already exploded lol.
My daily is a 2011 Subaru Liberty. My first car too. This beaut is so reliable, never in the year of owning it have I had issues. Love the power it provides and the AWD system. Such a comfy car.
Camry is the GOAT!!! I miss mine so much. A deer jumped out in front of it and totaled it. Best car I’ve ever had. Drove it for ten years😢
Love the humbleness and honesty.
Camry’s are awesome! Our ‘96 2-door Camry that’s a manual is forever fun. I Love my ‘06 Nissan Xterra it’s a manual very rare in my town I love it! I keep a mechanic on call in 3 different cities for any emergency repair when my hubs isn’t near. Older vehicles are just well loved gems 💎 ❤
06 nissan xterra manual is not rare the supercharged ones are rare tho
At this point anyone who drives a manual transmission is ok in my book.
I loved my 06 Xterra with a manual. And yes, it is a rare care compared to automatic Xterra.
My mum owns a manual 2010 Xterra.
Whenever I valet park, I’m usually the last to leave because nobody can drive a stick. Makes a car a little more theft proof!😁
Love my 2005 Dodge van has over two hundred thousand miles I've been blessed beyond measure. It's been the best used vehicle I've owned, no problem's. Takes me from A to Z keeping in mind to give it oil changes, checking all mechanical stuff is in order and it's all good.
Highly recommend AAA. They saved this old lady a few times! Loved my 1999 Honda Accord w/ 195 k miles! ❤️
Have it!
#BultFordTough
painting a car to match your favorite nail polish is absolutely iconic.
Your Mustang and I are the same age! No worries though; my 2008 Jeep is the same age as my younger cousin that I care for...and it's the same car I am going to use to teach her how to drive!
I still see incredibly nice 5.0’s in the summer. Actually saw a 7up edition the other day, which is mega rare and mega cool.
I love oldies, I own a 76 gmc truck. Camper special. 7.4 454 long block. It was sitting for a while in a yard. Tore the motor apart cleaned it inside and out, my best friend did the transmission in his shop for a good deal. Amazing truck with lots of torque. Trying to find a 70s el Camino to swap the motor in.
85 camaro here still kickin after 39 years
2006 Toyota Yaris.
Engine worn out at 247k? That doesn't sound right. What exactly happened?
I have a 2010 camry to. If you take care of it, it runs smooth. Love that thing.
Just cleaned my 2008 corolla….I’m so grateful for what I have
Toyotas are so awesome! And I'm proud of you for being content with your car. The peace that comes from having reliable transportation without a car payment is one of the greatest joys of adulting that doesn't get talked about enough 🙌
I drive a Saturn Ion2 stick, with 101K miles. I feel ya, Leah, I may NEVER give up this car!
Good to see a young person loving their older car.
2010 is older? My 2011 truck is new to me. My last car was a 95 and that was properly old.
@@Luke357 Older is a relative term, so I guess it depends on who you ask. What was your 95 car? The last 90s era car I owned was a Pontiac Grand Prix, I miss that thing.
@@tamanebp I had a 95 Sierra. Single cab, short bed, SL trim. It was about as basic as it got but I loved that thing. The only reason I stopped driving it was because the transmission went out and for a little over double the price of a rebuild I could have a newer truck that was similar but had a V8 and 4x4.
2012 Ford Escape XLT with 165km on it. Love it, it has mostly basic features but less to go wrong.
I'd rather have an old car or truck than a new one. No payments , easy and cheap to fix and maintain , durable , and they last longer. I drove a 1986 Chevy square body. It's my daily driver and I love it !
If you treat your older car like this guys will really appreciate your intentions and your commitment! You’re a keeper too!!
Our 2005 Chevy suburban and Silverado are great, reliable and paid off. 370k+ miles on the Silverado and still going strong.
2012 Dodge Avenger owner here and I’ve had her since I got my license in 2016. 175k miles later and still going strong. Not ashamed one bit and THANKFUL to not have any car payments
Just change the oil and keep an eye on the transmission and it should last a bit longer
But don’t expect 300,000 miles
Start saving up now
👍
I have a 2016 Ford Fiesta with almost 160,000 miles on it. Paid $4300 cash for it because the check engine light was on and the shop wanted to charge the owner $2000 to fix it. At the time I got it the car had 99k miles. After I diagnosed it, I determined I needed a new catalytic converter and a fuel purge solenoid valve. $230 in parts and 1 day labor, I was done.
No high monthly payments, no high insurance, no high registration, maintenance is cheap. I’m running this into the dirt before I get another fixer upper.
I don’t believe you
Cats aren’t only $230. They run anywhere from $1000 to $3000 easy.
Bullshit u got a catalytic converter for that cheap u lie much
When did you buy it? I’m pretty sure we got our ford fiesta in 2016 and it was 30k new 😅 we had to get the fiesta because our other fiesta from 2013 was a lemon and all ford would do was loan us another fiesta. We’re in a class action lawsuit for it. The fiesta and focus’s were all crap from 2011 to 2016.
@@Callsign_Sturm depends on how old we are talking. They have changed cats so much and this guy talked about changing his cat for $230. That is no cat swap. It’s something else we not told.
I drive a 2009 Mazda 6 top of the line model that I bought with 54,000 original miles, previous owner drove it very minimal and was garage kept, it drives smooth and has sunroof, fog lights, Bose surround system, ice cold a/c, I was lucky to find this car. I’m happy I don’t have to deal with car payments. I do pay full coverage insurance with progressive that’s only $140 a month w/ car rental and 500 deductible. I do the synthetic oil changes, the regular maintenance and I’m all good!
I have a 99 Jeep Wrangler 4.0-and it’s so much fun to drive around and go 4 wheeling in. It’s not my only car I have a Highlander for the kiddos & extra space but the Wrangler is my favorite one to drive and the kids love when I pick them up in that.
I have a 2008 528i BMW...love it! It's a manual transmission and fun to drive. Best all, it's been paid for. It doesn't have the new bells and whistles, but guess what, I learned to park and reverse w/o a camera!😮😮
I drive a '99 Camry!
My 1989 Chevy Van 6,2d, just love it🤩
My '08 cars radio is blown too. Portable bluetooth speaker for the win! Lol😅
Yup! I drive a 2008 CRV and it’s still going strong. My ego doesn’t need to be fed by driving a new leased car every 3 years and having a $600 car payment every month lol
Oh snap....my crv hybrid touring payment is 740! I hate it but our car got totalled right during the leak of the mass fake COVID price increases otherwise we wouldn't have touched that car.
Crvs are the best!!!
@@catherineludlum4955 I'm sure they are but TBH....I hate the transmission. That cvt is junk to me. The design on this one is great and I suspect it will last a long time vs my daughter's CRZ that went out at 127k miles. That really pissed me off.
She ain’t got no ahh
@@johngatsby1473if your talking "CVT", are you meaning "continuously variable transmission" ? - The Honda CRV has standard transmissions - auto or manual, and it has an all wheel drive system that moves power to the back wheels only when needed - saves a lot of petrol and tyre wear, but kicks in if your in a skid, its awesome. CVT 's proved not reliable.
My first car in 2012 was a 1990 Opel Corsa, then a 2003 Ford Streetka in 2016, and now I drive my mom's 2008 Renault Modus (I inherited it). She's 16 years old, old enough to drive herself in America! I just had her completely cleaned inside and out. She's got a few more years left in her.
2013 Ford F-150. Love my truck!!! A few recalls but all in all I wouldn't get another vehicle.
I drive a 1991 Honda Civic daily. 39MPG average, 400K miles. Parts are cheap and it’s easy to work on with basic tools.
Same here, 1990 Accord and 1997 Accord. Both nearing 350k. I do my own repairs, easy and cheap cars to work on and nice to drive.
92 civic coupe (ej2) the base model. With a Frankenstein build. 00 ex motor, non v tech head, crower stage 2 cams also with springs and retainers, skunk2 valves, high compression pistons, ported and polished the intake. There's more but I can't remember much I built in high school back in 2018 all cheap. Don't know exactly how much hp it makes but I'm faster than my friends 2011 civic SI. That car makes about 190 hp and it's a dual cam however it's way heavier. I can push the car on my own from the steering wheel, anyone can really. Still runs strong to this day. Maintenance is key.
Awesome 😮
1985 chevy camaro here 39 year old car and still kickin
You must be in the south. Up here in Western NY state there is no way your car would still be around. It would have rusted out. Unless you did proper rust proofing every year.
She’s a keeper! Car ain’t too bad either…
She's neglectful.

I drive an 2003 pickup that was my Dad's, 151,000 miles & I still love her!
I've got an '03 with 180k that I paid a thousand for
Some cars are just built better
I also drive my Father's car. It is a Mitsubishi SUV that he bought brand new before he Died back in 2001! It has only 77k miles on it for a 23 year old vehicle. It still looks beautiful. I will NEVER give it up except for when it absolutely cannot possibly safely run anymore. I have never made a car payment in Life and I am going to keep it that way. Older and used, bought outright in Cash 💸 will always be the way I procure a vehicle.
