- This IITian is taking on Google, with his AI startup Perplexity.
Aravind Srinivas studied engineering at IIT Madras before getting a PhD in computer science from the University of Berkley.
And before starting Perplexity, Arvind worked at Google’s Deepmind and OpenAI, which is where his love for ‘search’ started.
Arvind was convinced that the future of search would be to give the users answers to their questions, not a bunch of links.
To make it happen, he started Perplexity.
He got together a great team that wanted to work on the future of search and cold-emailed two potential investors, who invested 3.1 Million dollars just on the idea.
Since its launch, Perplexity has taken off and is today being used by over 10 Million monthly users.
The company is backed by investors like Jeff Bezos and Nvidia, who have put in over 100 Million dollars, valuing the company at 520 Million dollars.
Finally a guy with real tech knowledge.
What! U never saw anyone with tech knowledge? Do u live in forest?
Really love the pvz nostalgia, my god it was a banger back in the day , ea bought and ruined it all
Ok bro you're a real one👍🏻

I can't say about replacing Google, but it is definitely a better tool when looking for answers.
If it grows big enough google will just buy it. That's what they(big cos) have done alot of times and it works.
I can replace it. After using chat gpt i cant go back to google
And this can grow big into other fields
@@AbhishekSingh-nq4rhit's worst when openai api merges with Microsoft search nobody will use it then and Google is mostly preferred for many answers not single. Also Google antropic search engine will come😅😅
nope it isn't google's gemini does what perplexity does also it uses the help of copilot which uses bing for search (wrong infos) plus how can an ai model can certainly replace a tech giant like google like if you use apple you still have to use some google products
Worked at OpenAI and Deepmind 🚀 Bro lived our dreams mannn
even just time passed there and left for perplexity may be.

I use perplexity for research. It also attaches the sources from which the result has been drawn.

It's difficult to replace Google, the giant it has become.. But if they do replace Google that would be phenomenal..
At a time, yahoo was also irreplaceable but got replaced by Chrome. Everything is temporary
google is not. Yahoo was never better than google and intrnent was at soft phase back then. Now the interent has fully taken over. This startup aint going anywhere@@rishabhshuklaa1

Partnership with Perplexity is something damn amazing. Perplexity is not a bullshit AI. IYKYK
I don't think it will replace Google but this is 10 times better alternative for Wikipedia
Idk why are people so obsessed with IITB when Madras and Kharagpur are the real G.O.A.T
I tested chat gpt, perplexity, Gemini ai with same prompts.
And I can say for a fact perplexity is just so so overhyped. It's just a chatbot which can answer question like a robot. Whereas gemini gives real human like answers and was really helpful
True chatgpt gives best answers but for current infos Gemini's answer is better also perplexity uses copilot whose ai model is gpt😂😂

it actually uses Google for the results..Perplexity is actually enhancing Google results.
Every AI does that😂😂😂 what you talking about?
Ouh
Bro,
STOP
Stop discriminating on the basis of iitian and non-iitian. Others who have to potential to do something big, put their hand a little down after listening this. You can mention by taking the name also.
So Please.
he is a content creator, he gets more views if he mentions IIT, he wont make more money if he starts being considerate of other people's feelings. Besides if someone really was going to do something big, they would 100% not be demotivated by watching something done by an IITian. Always remember, successful people and unsuccessful people both have obstacles, only difference is that an unsuccessful person uses the obstacle as an excuse
But this startup is not Indian. It is based in the USA. 😢
Better in USA
No, tax ab usa ko milegaa
He deserves USA. USA is the best best platform for flourishing such startup. If try to do so in India, heavy taxes and restrictions would put on him. USA is too better than India

Well those top guys who are invested in this will take over one fine day they are all hand in hand inside.
Seems OpenAI CEO triggered indian ego 😂 and it worked nicely.
Google will buy the Perplexity Technology 😂
Where knowledge begins
Neega Please ! He can't even take on my backyard .
In this day and age, perplexity has captured my interest.
Seems more like a useful tool more than a replacement for everything that google offers (yet)
Honestly, i haven't gone to google in a while. Perplexity is so good. It gives very relevant answers and good resources attached to it.
I do use perplexity and it is really the most useful ai tool I found as a student, in-fact I have used it many times instead of google for various research projects from my school and it truly makes my job simpler by giving the exact info that I want and not bombarding me with unnecessary extra stuff.
He can't overtake Google since the resources are summarised from Google 😅
You seem to have less knowledge of web dude
Google is not controller & dictator of web. It's just a search engine.
Web is a complete world and Google is just a torch to help you see it.
@@just_a_curious_thinker I accept my pov maybe wrong with what I observed, I observed for getting to know more about something shown in perplexity even deeper we had to click those links which led us to Google Chrome. Doesn't it ?
Please correct me and let me know where I went wrong in observing. So I would be happy I learnt something today.
You simply came here to judge someone without even knowing why they said that. As they way some people usually do.
@@just_a_curious_thinker and to ur last point if Google is a torch of it, without which you cant see, it then in no ways they can overtake Google, they can develop Google into a better and easier way to handle maybe
@@lakshmananparthasarathysub9873There are other search engines beside google too. and about your point on links taking you to google chrome, chrome is just a browser. If you had some other browser like maybe firefox it would open firefox. But I agree with you on it not being a google killer
@@lakshmananparthasarathysub9873Though it may be correct that they may never overtake Google but your argument isnt necessarily correct.
Web is free to access for all, even if Google completely shuts down, you will still have alternatives like duck duck go, bing search etc.
It is possible for them to build a better search engine than Google, as explained in the short perplexity's goal is to create a different kind of search than traditional search that provides links to websites
It is basically asking AI to generate search answers for you, since it's relatively new there's a chance they overtake Google here, still google and other big companies probably have a better chance due to their sheer size and networks.
He looks like Nikhil Kamath
It's really cool
It gives very easy and less lagging answers
Means less response time

Microsoft and openai are also making a collabe to takeover Google's search engine these days

As a perplexity user myself, it is fantastic.
It helped on a MBA project. I used it before chatgpt
