Dmitri is stunningly handsome in that uniform/costume. The makeup and hair stylist for him in this production gets 5 stars from me. The tied-back hair is so flattering to Dmitri's face. He is the most striking, handsome DiLuna I've ever seen, and after that monumental kiss? If I were "Leonora," I would have regretted swallowing the poison. 😂❤

Le revoir dans ce grand rôle du Comte de Luna, qui lui allait si bien me brise le cœur .... je ne peux croire qu’il nous ait quitté. C’était un artiste qui avait tout ... une voix superbe et émouvante, la beauté virile, un charme fou et cette présence exceptionnelle sur scène. What a wonderful performance this was. It's not often Il trovatore makes me cry. Also, that epic kiss at the end? That should be mandatory for this duet.

Dima's last opera performance at hte Metropolitan. He was magnificent, the audience gave him a standing ovation with tears in their eyes. He had been diagnosed few months before with cancer. We miss you, handsome Conte di Luna!.

What a magnificent performance of this duet. Of course, we expect this from Dmitri but Anna her is absolutely his equal. What a shame that so many people simply want to dismiss because she "dared" to sing some of Callas' great roles. Callas would have applauded her for taking these roles on and would have defended her from her stupid critics. She made some problematic role choices early on because Gergiev want to be the "discoverer of the next Callas" not realizing that there will never be a "next Callas". Fortunately, she escaped from his Svengali manipulation and began running her own career properly. Let us applaud her for this and her beautiful voice and commitment to real opera performing.
To any who still downgrade Netrebko, this proves them wrong. This performance with Dmitri [who is magnificent] demonstrates both vocal perfection and the emotive power that Verdi, especially in his middle period, demands of a soprano. Brava Anna!!

Both Hvorostosvski and the gorgeous Ana Natrebko are perfect for this terrible moment of Il Trovatore. ‘M’avrai, ma freda anima spoglia’ ‘You will have me but as a cold inanimated corpse’ is her final threat. Few times you will find this perfection of Verdian performance. Moves me to tears.

An incredible performance. Can see that Hvorostovsky was already looking sicker but his voice was still sublime. Music is a very powerful thing.
