The Old Gods are the strongest creatures in the world of Fear and Hunger and serve as final bosses in endings for both games. While the Eldritch creatures are unimaginably strong, the versions we fight are only mere traces of the beings' true power and even the tiniest fragment of their power is enough to easily wipe out your party. We see 2 other Old Gods in the game of Vinushka, the God of Nature, and the mysterious God of the Depths, but these 2 don't have fights in the game as of now. However, the ones we can fight are Gro-goroth, the God of Destruction and human sacrifice, Sylvian, the Goddess of love, lust, and creation, and Rher, the Trickster Moon God.

I can't find the right words to describe my reaction to that phrase and its implications
I find it hilarious that the goddess of creation attacks you directly but the god of destruction at least talks to you at the end lol
I think this is due to the fact that the trace of Gro-goroth is not only stronger, but also more sane. At this time, Sylvain's trail is just a powerful mindless monster.

And this is just a lil theory I thought of when I saw this thread, but what if the reason Sylvian just slowly went away without a word is cause she was hurt the party rejected her in her eyes?
Grogoroth is not inherently evil just because he is destructive. Sylvian hates her creations@@MathisR412

What is crazy is what was considered a battle to you was nothing more than a passing, minimal acknowledgement to Rher. In the end you didn't kill it, you didn't defeat, you didn't even harm it. All that happen was that it grew bored and just walked away, which implies all you did before that point didn't even register as pain to Rher, not even slight discomfort. It was like a caterpillar that a person looks at, only for the person to walk away for no real discernable purpose.
I mean he's literally the moon. It would be strange if we could defeat the Moon with our fists)))

And it's not even Rher, only his trace, like the other two. Your analogy refers to a tiny amount of Rher's full power.

Man, the Gro-goroth fight is such a good, tough battle. Probably my favorite in the series
I love the old god designs in Fear & Hunger. They're much more intimidating and unique compared to godly characters I've (personally) seen in other games. They are threatening and provide nothing that would necessarily bring someone comfort when following a god/religion but still have an air of power that only a god/eldritch being could possess. In the grand scheme of things, humans are inevitably going to lose against the old gods or, at least, the influence they have permanently left behind.

Yeah they make you understand by their look alone they wasn't, aren't and never will be a person in the first place.
Worst than that, you actually talk to traces of them, like a physical form that is one billionth of them yet not even close to what they are : an intangible concept.
@@maxminota9921 Yeah, things like that in games, movies, books, etc. are why lovecraftian/eldritch horror is one of my favorite genres
What’s interesting is that in different places the Old Gods are depicted differently. Either it’s just “I’m an artist, this is how I see it,” or different people have already repeatedly encountered the traces of the Old Gods and each trace looks unique.

Как известно, следы Гро-горота самые сильные. Тоесть, его следы больше всего похожи на самого Старого Бога. Следы Сильвиан и Рхер же намного слабее и из-за этого являются более бездумными существами.

I don't understand why they have to instantly attack you. Especially Sylvian, why would she kill her own creation, her own children she loves?
They are all distorted in a way. Sylvian left the world since humans couldnt respond to her love. So i imagine that if she doesnt attack you, the alternative will not be too great. Similar to how you can lose your mind in the sylvian cult

As I understand it, the old gods do not exist at all. They are so powerful that their shadows have left worms similar to the old gods on planet Earth. All the gods that we see in this game were either people and became gods, or just an imitation of incredibly powerful creatures that can probably destroy the universe. But even if they were on planet Earth, there is not a single old god left now. All the old Gods disappeared somewhere, but they definitely did not stay on Earth.
